Islanders' Adam Pelech: Hasn't found his game yet
Pelech has struggled over his last five games since returning from a concussion.
Pelech only has one point, an assist, in those games, but what is much more concerning is that he has a rating of minus-2 in those contests. That rating is even though the team has only allowed nine goals total in those five games. Perhaps a slow start from his return is to be expected as Pelech rounds himself back into form after missing 21 games due to the injury. Pelech will look to get back to the player considered to be the best defensive defenseman for the Islanders on Tuesday when they host the Kraken.... See More ... See Less

Pelech looks set to play for the first time since Dec. 6 versus the Blues, a stretch of 21 games on injured reserve. The Toronto-born defenseman figures to pair up with long-time partner Ryan Pulock on the Isles' top pair. Islanders' Adam Pelech: Skating with teammates
Pelech (head) participated in an optional skate with several other players Thursday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
This would be the next step in his progression toward a return to the lineup. Pelech will miss his 16th straight game Thursday versus the Wild. The team would like Pelech to take part in a full practice before returning to game action, but that could be difficult, as the Islanders have four games in the next six nights and nine games in the next 16 days before the All-Star break. Practice time will be limited for the team. Pelech won't play Thursday, and even Saturday versus the Canadiens would seem unlikely, but perhaps Monday against the Capitals could be a legitimate option.... See More ... See Less

Pelech has already been out of action for the previous nine contests and looks no closer to getting back onto the ice. Pelech assisted on third-period tallies by Josh Bailey and Kyle Palmieri as the Islanders pulled away from a Rangers team that showed its tired legs on the second leg of a back-to-back. A pair of two-assist efforts comprise the entirety of Pelech's point total through seven games, but don't expect the defensive-minded blueliner to pick up the scoring pace -- Pelech's 28 points last season marked a career high and he has yet to surpass five goals in a season....
