Devils' Jake Allen: Poor showing in second period
Allen gave up three goals on 19 shots in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Senators.
Allen allowed all three goals in a span of 4:39 during the second period, and it was too much for the Devils to overcome. This was Allen's first loss since Feb. 26 -- he had given up a total of four goals on 103 shots over his previous three wins, a stretch that has earned him a 50-50 split of playing time with Jacob Markstrom. For the season, Allen is at 12-14-1 with a 2.56 GAA and a .912 save percentage through 27 appearances. If the goalie rotation holds, Markstrom would face one of his former teams, the Canucks, on Monday, while Allen is in line for a road start versus the Blackhawks on Wednesday.

Devils' Jake Allen: Slated to start Saturday
Head coach Sheldon Keefe said Wednesday that Allen will start Saturday's home game against the Senators, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Allen and Jacob Markstrom have alternated starts in recent weeks, and that trend will continue over the next few games, as Markstrom will be between the pipes at home against the Flames on Thursday before Allen tends the twine against Ottawa. Allen has been sharp over his last three outings, going 3-0-0 with a 1.33 GAA and .961 save percentage during that time.

Devils' Jake Allen: Season-high 45 saves Monday
Allen turned aside 45 shots in Monday's 2-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
The veteran netminder faced a season-high workload and didn't blink, taking a shutout into the third period before Mathieu Olivier banged a shot past him midway through the final frame. Allen has won three straight starts, allowing just four goals on 103 shots over that stretch while working in a timeshare with the struggling Jacob Markstrom.

Devils' Jake Allen: Between pipes against Columbus
Allen was the first goalie off during Monday's morning skate, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports, indicating that he'll draw the road start in Columbus.
Allen has picked up wins in his last two starts, recording a 1.50 GAA and .947 across that span. The Blue Jackets will be a formidable opponent Monday, as they rank eighth in the NHL with 3.23 goals per game.

Devils' Jake Allen: Earns win vs. Edmonton
Allen stopped 31 of 33 shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Oilers.
Allen has won his last two starts and has looked brilliant in the process, stopping 54 of 57 shots faced in the process. The 34-year-old veteran has been limited to 25 appearances this season, and while his 11-13-1 record isn't eye-popping by any means, he sports a solid .910 save percentage and a 2.60 GAA.

Devils' Jake Allen: Slated to start Thursday
Allen was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate and is expected to guard the home crease versus Edmonton on Thursday, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.
Allen was stellar in his last start, stopping 23 of 24 shots in a 3-1 win over the Flyers on Sunday. Allen is 10-13-1 with four shutouts, a 2.62 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 24 starts. Edmonton is ninth in NHL scoring, scoring 3.23 goals per game this season.

Devils' Jake Allen: Back in win column
Allen turned aside 23 of 24 shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Flyers.
Allen rebounded with a solid performance Sunday after allowing a total of eight goals in back-to-back losses. The New Brunswick native improved to 10-13-1 with a .910 save percentage and a 2.62 GAA over 24 appearances in 2024-25. Now that Jacob Markstrom is healthy, the 34-year-old Allen is back to serving as the No. 2 netminder, though the former is winless in three starts since returning from a knee injury.

Devils' Jake Allen: Starting in Philadelphia
Allen will defend the road net versus the Flyers on Sunday, according to Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.
Allen has one win in his last five outings, allowing 15 goals on 163 shots and earning one shutout. He has a 9-13-1 record with a 2.70 GAA and a .906 save percentage across 23 appearances this season. Philadelphia is tied for 18th in the league with 2.83 goals per game in 2024-25 and lost 4-1 to Seattle on Saturday.

Devils' Jake Allen: Pulled late in loss
Allen allowed five goals on 36 shots in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Allen played nearly the whole game, but exited with 1:42 left in the third period after giving up the fifth goal, three of which came in a span of 4:04. There was no report of an injury following the contest, so it's safe to assume the 34-year-old netminder is good to go for the remainder of the road trip. Allen is now 9-13-1 with a 2.70 GAA and a .906 save percentage through 23 appearances. Jacob Markstrom (knee) is on the trip, but it's unclear if he'll be ready to go in time to start one of the Devils' next two games, which are in a back-to-back set this weekend with stops in Utah on Saturday and Vegas on Sunday.

Devils' Jake Allen: Slated to start Wednesday
Allen is expected to start on the road versus the Avalanche on Wednesday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Allen's time as the Devils' starter could be nearing a close since Jacob Markstrom (knee) has returned to practice. Over his last seven games, Allen is 3-4-0, with two of those wins being shutouts, but he's given up at least three goals in each of the other five contests. The 34-year-old will face a Colorado team with just 13 goals scored over its last six games, a span in which it has gone 3-3-0.

Devils' Jake Allen: Curious trend in recent performance
Allen made 22 saves in a 4-2 loss to the Stars on Saturday. He allowed three goals.
Allen played well enough, but Casey DeSmith was all-world at the other end of the ice. He has to tip his cap to that kind of performance. Allen remains the lead 'tender with Jacob Markstrom (knee) out for a couple more weeks. Since Markstrom went down, Allen is 4-4-0 with two shutouts in seven starts. Those SOs came against the Flyers and the Habs, two subpar teams, and his wins came against the Habs (two), Flyers and Bruins. He also lost against the Flyers and the Sabres. Allen has allowed at least three goals in every other start. Honestly, that raises our anxiety a bit with the Devils facing the powerful Avs, Golden Knights, Stars and Jets over the next six outings.

Devils' Jake Allen: Tending twine Saturday
Allen will be between the home pipes versus Dallas on Saturday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Allen has played very well since taking over the No. 1 spot from the injured Jacob Markstrom (knee), going 4-4-0 with a pair of shutouts, a 2.08 GAA and a .930 save percentage. Dallas has generated 3.27 goals per game in 2024-25, eighth in the NHL.

Devils' Jake Allen: Blanks Canadiens
Allen stopped 34 shots in Saturday's 4-0 win over Montreal.
Allen ended his two-game winless skid with a bang before the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off. Montreal outshot the Devils 14-6 in the second period and 12-7 in the third, but Allen shut the door for his fourth shutout of 2024-25. He has a 9-11-1 record with a 2.56 GAA and a .912 save percentage through 21 appearances this season. Allen has been superb between the pipes, and the Devils will continue to lean on him while Jacob Markstrom (knee) recovers.

Devils' Jake Allen: Overwhelmed by Vegas
Allen stopped a season-high 37 shots in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights.
Vegas dominated the game after a scoreless first period, and New Jersey wound up getting outshot 40-15 on the night. Given the circumstances, Allen did well just to keep the final score close. The veteran netminder has shouldered a heavy workload while Jacob Markstrom (knee) has been on the shelf, seeing action in six of the last seven games and going 3-3-0 with a 2.47 GAA and .921 save percentage. Markstrom may not be back until sometime in March, but Allen will be able to recharge his batteries during the break for the 4 Nationals Face-Off.

Devils' Jake Allen: Facing Vegas
Allen will guard the home goal versus the Golden Knights on Thursday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Allen will get the nod as he looks to bounce back from giving up four goals on 27 shots to the Sabres on Sunday. The 34-year-old netminder has won three of his last six outings. The Golden Knights have scored just 14 goals over their last six games, going 1-3-2 in that span.

Devils' Jake Allen: Blitzed early in road loss
Allen surrendered four goals on 27 shots in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres.
New Jersey almost pulled off the comeback Sunday, but Buffalo's three-goal first period was too much to surmount. Allen has lost two of his last three starts, but he was solid across six appearances in January, posting a .927 save percentage and a 1.81 GAA. Overall, the 34-year-old owns an 8-10-1 record, .905 save percentage and 2.68 GAA through 19 appearances.

Devils' Jake Allen: Facing Sabres on Sunday
Allen will be between the visiting pipes in Buffalo on Sunday, according to James Nichols of NJD Hockey Now.
Allen garnered his third shutout, and second in his last four games Wednesday, turning aside 24 shots in a 5-0 win over Philadelphia. Allen has taken over as the Devils' No. 1 goaltender because Jacob Markstrom is on the shelf for another 3-5 weeks due to a sprained MCL. The Sabres are averaging 3.10 goals per game, 11th in the NHL this season.

Devils' Jake Allen: Stymies Flyers for third shutout
Allen turned aside 24 shots in Wednesday's 5-0 win over Philadelphia.
It was the third shutout of the season for the 34-year-old netminder, but his first since Nov. 4. Allen has held down the fort well since Jacob Markstrom was sidelined by a sprained MCL, going 3-1-0 with a 1.66 GAA and .938 save percentage while appearing in four straight games. The Devils don't play again until Sunday and have no back-to-back games before the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, so Allen may not need to be spelled by backup Isaac Poulter during that stretch.
