  • Browns' Tyler Huntley: Lands with Cleveland

Huntley agreed to a contract with the Browns on Sunday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Huntley will stick in the AFC North after serving as one of the primary backup quarterbacks behind Lamar Jackson in Baltimore over the past four seasons. The 26-year-old is set to join Cleveland on a veteran minimum deal, according to Tom Withers of the Associated Press. With four accrued seasons under Huntley's belt, this veteran minimum deal should carry a base value of one-year, $1.13 million. He'll likely compete with Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson (hip) for the primary backup role behind starting quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder).

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Capable showing in contract year

Huntley finished the 2023 regular season having completed 21 of 37 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns over five games. He added 15 carries for 55 yards.

The bulk of Huntley's production came in his lone start during the final game of the regular season, when he went 15 for 28 for 146 yards with one touchdown. His other appearances came in blowout wins over the Browns, Lions, Seahawks and Dolphins. Huntley could be heading toward an impasse with the Ravens, as he's set to become an unrestricted free agent just as Lamar Jackson's $260 million contract extension kicks in, Baltimore may opt for a more cost-efficient backup quarterback as a result. The fact that the team traded for rookie quarterback Malik Cunningham during the season only strengthens that notion. Should Huntley hit the open market, he'd be a strong option for any team looking to bolster its quarterback room. However, it's unlikely that he would be brought in anywhere with a serious expectation to start.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Modest output in Week 18 loss

Huntley completed 15 of 28 pass attempts for 146 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 40 yards on eight attempts in Saturday's 17-10 loss to the Steelers.

The veteran backup made his first start of the season with the AFC's No. 1 seed opting to rest superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson for an inconsequential Week 18 matchup. Huntley was harassed in the pocket by T.J. Watt (knee) and Co. to the tune of four sacks for a combined loss of 28 yards. Huntley wound up throwing the Ravens' only touchdown in Saturday's defeat, adding 40 rushing yards with no turnovers to produce a modest fantasy score. The 26-year-old will report back to the sidelines when Jackson starts for Baltimore in the AFC divisional round.
