Weaver (oblique) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
Weaver didn't suit up for the Cardinals' season-opening loss to the Bills this past Sunday after failing to participate in any practices leading up to the contest. He was at least able to participate in a limited capacity Wednesday, which boosts his chances of making his NFL debut Week 2 against the Rams.

Cardinals' Xavier Weaver: Could return Week 2
Head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Monday that Weaver (oblique) is expected to be back on the field this week, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
After missing the Cardinals' Week 1 outing with an oblique injury, it appears Weaver is nearing a return to the field. The undrafted wideout from Colorado surprisingly made Arizona's 53-man roster after an impressive preseason, and he's expected to serve as a depth piece in the team's wide receiver room once he moves past his oblique issue.

Weaver's oblique injury prevented him from practicing in any capacity this week, so it's not surprising to see him ruled out. The undrafted rookie wide receiver's next chance to make his NFL debut will come Week 2 versus the Rams.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Wednesday that Weaver will remain out of practice due to an oblique injury, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
The undrafted rookie wide receiver out of Colorado "nicked" his oblique earlier in the week, and it appears he's still in the recovery process based on Gannon's comments Wednesday. While Weaver continues to battle his oblique issue, expect Zach Pascal and Chris Moore to see increased reps in the Cardinals' WR room.

Cardinals' Xavier Weaver: Sits out practice
Weaver "nicked" his oblique, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon, and did not practice Monday, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports.
Weaver's injury comes at an inopportune time, as the 23-year-old was able to make the 53-man roster despite going undrafted out of Colorado. Likely aiding his inclusion on the active roster was the five-game suspension of Zay Jones for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. Any missed time for Weaver could be lost opportunity with Jones on the sidelines. However, Weaver will work to get back on the field sometime this week ahead of the team's season opener Sunday against the Bills.

Cardinals' Xavier Weaver: Gets long look in preseason finale
Weaver caught two of four targets for a team-high 56 yards in Sunday's 38-12 preseason loss to the Broncos. He added 71 yards on two kickoff and two punt returns.
The undrafted rookie out of Colorado got a chance to make an impression in the Cardinals' preseason finale and took advantage, showing his ability as a return man and also connecting with Clayton Tune on a 43-yard reception in the second quarter. Weaver is a long shot to crack Arizona's season-opening roster, but with Zay Jones set to miss the first five games after the league handed down a suspension Friday, the 23-year-old at least picked a good time to have a strong performance.

Xavier Weaver: Lands with Arizona
Weaver intends to sign with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Weaver will get $255,000 guaranteed, according to Pelissero. After spending four years at South Florida, Weaver transferred to Colorado for his 2023 campaign and had his best statistical season with a 68-908-4 receiving line. He led the team in receiving and added a pair of rushing scores. Arizona used first- and sixth-rounds picks on wideouts Marvin Harrison and Tejhaun Palmer. Weaver will look to win a job this summer.
