  • Lions' Zonovan Knight: Moved to IR

The Lions placed Knight (shoulder) on injured reserve Saturday. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Friday that the shoulder injury that Knight sustained in Week 5 against the Seahawks was season-ending. He joined the Lions on Sept. 20 after being waived by the Jets at the end of training camp. Knight played two games this season and registered 21 yards on four touches.

  • Lions' Zonovan Knight: Suffers season-ending injury

Knight (shoulder) sustained a season-ending injury versus the Panthers in Week 5, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Knight's injury specifics remain undisclosed, but his shoulder issue is expected to land him on IR for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. The second-year pro suited up for only two games with Detroit this season, in which span he carried three times for 13 yards and secured his only target for eight yards. His absence leaves the Lions lacking for backfield depth, especially if Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) remains sidelined any longer.

  • Lions' Zonovan Knight: Still not practicing Thursday

Knight (shoulder) did not participate at practice Thursday. Knight has now sat out of consecutive practices to begin the week, casting a heavy shadow of doubt over his availability for Sunday at Tampa Bay. Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) also missed a second straight practice Thursday, leaving Craig Reynolds as Detroit's only fully healthy backup at running back to David Montgomery heading into Week 6.

  • Lions' Zonovan Knight: Inactive with Montgomery healthy

Knight is inactive for Thursday night's Week 4 game against the Packers. With David Montgomery returning from his quad injury for this one, Knight is the odd man out as a healthy scratch. Craig Reynolds is more active on special teams and will serve as the third running back behind Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.

  • Zonovan Knight: Joins Lions' practice squad

Knight signed with Detroit's practice squad Thursday, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic reports. Knight failed to make the Jets' 53-man roster out of training camp, and rather than sticking around with New York as a member of the practice, he took the opportunity to join an organization with less running back depth. The only two running backs on Detroit's 53-man roster roster are Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, so Knight may be just one injury away from being called up from the practice squad, much like he was down the stretch for the Jets as a rookie in 2022. He appeared in seven games for the Jets last season, carrying 85 times for 300 yards and a touchdown and recording 13 catches for 100 yards.

  • Zonovan Knight: Cut loose by Jets

The Jets are waiving Knight on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Knight stuck with the team as an undrafted rookie last year and eventually made four starts, but he tumbled down the depth chart this offseason behind Breece Hall (knee), Dalvin Cook and Michael Carter. The Jets seemingly plan to keep fifth-round rookie Israel Abanikanda as their No. 4 RB.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Serves as main back Saturday

Knight rushed eight times for 33 yards and brought in three of four targets for 20 yards in the Jets' 13-6 preseason loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday night. He also returned one kickoff for 23 yards and lost a fumble. Dalvin Cook (shoulder), Breece Hall (knee) and Michael Carter were all given the night off, while Israel Abanikanda (thigh) suffered an in-game injury, all adding up to a busy night for Knight. The second-year back was reasonably productive on a per-touch basis, but his early second-quarter fumble did lead to a Buccaneers field goal. Knight is presumably battling Abanikanda for the No. 4 running back role, and he could well have sealed that job partly by default due the rookie's injury.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Outplayed by Carter and Abanikanda

Knight rushed four times for 13 yards and caught one of two targets for three yards in Saturday's 27-0 preseason win over the Panthers. Knight was almost charged with a fumble at the end of a three-yard catch on New York's opening drive, but he was ruled down on replay. He and Michael Carter both mixed in on New York's first two drives, but Carter was far more effective, with 53 scrimmage yards on six touches. Rookie fifth-round pick Israel Abanikanda played the majority of the game after that point and impressed with 87 yards between 12 carries and three catches. The Jets may keep only one of Knight or Abanikanda on the 53-man roster behind Breece Hall (knee) and Carter, though all four running backs could make the team if Hall's recovery from ACL surgery threatens to impact his regular-season availability.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Listed ahead of Abanikanda

Knight is listed second on the Jets' first preseason running back depth chart behind Michael Carter, Eric Allen of the team's official site reports. Breece Hall (knee) isn't listed since he's still recovering from a torn ACL, but he's the presumed No. 1 option when healthy. It's noteworthy that Knight is ahead of rookie fifth-round pick Israel Abanikanda. As long as he stays ahead of Abanikanda, Knight will be in good position to secure a roster spot, barring the Jets shaking things up by signing a veteran such as Dalvin Cook.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Healthy for start of camp

Knight (undisclosed) is participating in training camp, Eric Allen and Ethan Greenberg of the Jets' official site report. Knight missed most of OTAs due to an undisclosed injury, but he has healed up for the beginning of training camp. He rotated in on kick returns, as did fellow running backs Michael Carter and Travis Dye. The Jets also have Breece Hall (knee) -- who opened training camp on the PUP list -- and rookie fifth-round pick Israel Abanikanda in the backfield, so Knight will need a strong performance in training camp and preseason to secure a roster spot after appearing in seven games with the Jets as a rookie in 2022.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Battling injury in OTAs

Knight (undisclosed) has been banged up at OTAs and has mostly been working off to the side, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. The exact nature of Knight's injury hasn't been revealed, but he can ill afford to miss extensive time once training camp kicks off, as Knight will be battling for one of the final roster spots on the team. Heading into his second NFL season, Knight currently looks like the fourth running back on the Jets' depth chart behind Breece Hall (knee), Michael Carter and rookie fifth-round pick Israel Abanikanda.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

It's risky to trust Knight again given his production the past two games against Detroit and Jacksonville when he combined for just four PPR points, but that was with Zach Wilson under center. With Mike White back, the Bam Knight party should get back on track. In three games with White, Knight scored at least 12 PPR points, including two games with at least 100 total yards and three catches. He'll share touches with Michael Carter, but this is a great matchup for the Jets in Week 17 at Seattle. The Seahawks are No. 2 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, and Seattle has allowed nine total touchdowns to the position in the past five games. With White at quarterback, I'm trusting Knight as a flex option again in all leagues.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Active for Thursday's game

Knight (ankle) is listed as active for Thursday night's game against the Jaguars. Though Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site noted earlier in the week that Knight came out of a Week 15 loss to Detroit with an ankle issue, the running back wasn't listed on the team's first two Week 16 injury reports, before being listed as a full practice participant Wednesday and questionable for Thursday's contest. With Knight's active status confirmed, look for the 5-foot-10, 209-pounder to lead New York's ground game versus Jacksonville, with Michael Carter mixing in and Ty Johnson on hand in reserve.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Flex Starter (Lineup Decisions)

Knight makes me nervous. Jets running backs not named Breece Hall have mostly struggled with Zach Wilson on the field, and Knight's matchup isn't as juicy as it seems. But it's the bad weather that could force the Jets to lean on Knight, though the Jaguars would know it and plan accordingly. I would sit Knight in favor of A.J. Dillon, Latavius Murray, Raheem Mostert and Leonard Fournette, but he has appeal over lesser backs like Cam Akers, the Lions RBs and the Commanders RBs.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Expected to play Thursday

Knight (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Jaguars, is in line to play, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports. Despite being listed as a full participant at Wednesday's practice, Knight still took a designation into the Week 16 contest. Fantasy managers who are planning on using Knight this week will still want to ensure that he's officially cleared when the Jets release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. Knight has taken hold of the lead role out of the New York backfield, but after three quality performances to kick off his NFL career, the undrafted rookie out of NC State stumbled in last week's loss to the Lions. He carried 13 times for just 23 yards against Detroit and failed to draw a target across his 28 snaps.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Gets questionable tag for Week 16

Knight (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Jaguars after being listed as a full participant at Wednesday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site previously noted that Knight came out of the Jets' Week 15 loss to Detroit with the ankle issue, but he wasn't listed on the team's first two Week 16 injury reports. Per Cimini, Knight is trending toward playing versus Jacksonville, but the questionable designation nonetheless makes the running back's status worth confirming ahead of Thursday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Not listed on injury report

Knight (ankle) isn't listed on the Jets' injury report ahead of Thursday night's game against the Jaguars, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site previously relayed that Knight came out of Week 15 action with an ankle issue, but Knight didn't appear on the team's practice/injury report following Monday's walkthrough. Based on that, Knight is on track to suit up for Thursday's contest and thus in line to continue to lead New York's backfield Week 16, with Michael Carter mixing in.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Chance to play Thursday

Knight (ankle) could play Thursday versus the Jaguars, Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports. Knight is dealing with an ankle injury sustained during Sunday's loss to the Lions, in which he carried the ball 13 times for 23 yards and wasn't targeted. The undrafted rookie may have to practice as at least a limited participant prior to Thursday's contest to have any chance of suiting up. If he does play but is still hampered by the ankle issue, Knight may end up splitting touches with Michael Carter.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: Worst game as pro in Week 15

Knight rushed 13 times for 23 yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Lions. Knight was the only Jets running back to record a rushing attempt in the first half, but he was bottled up by an improving Detroit front, mustering only 15 yards on eight carries. He split touches with Michael Carter in the second half as New York continued to struggle on the ground. Knight's fresh legs gave him an edge over tired defenders when he first joined the Jets in Week 12, but perhaps the undrafted rookie out of NC State is starting to wear down himself as New York prepares to host the Jaguars on Thursday.

  • Jets' Zonovan Knight: RBs to Start

Knight has been fantastic as the lead running back for the Jets for the past two weeks, and I'm willing to trust him even against the Bills. In two games since Michael Carter hurt his ankle in Week 12 against Chicago, Knight has over 100 total yards in both outings and eight receptions for 62 yards on eight targets. The work in the passing game matters here since Mike White loves checking down to his running backs, and Buffalo has allowed 10 receptions to D'Andre Swift and Rhamondre Stevenson in the past two games. The Bills also have allowed a running back to score at least 12 PPR points in five of the past six games, including Carter and James Robinson each scoring 13 PPR points against Buffalo in Week 9. Even though Carter could return in Week 14, Knight is still worth using as a No. 2 running back in all leagues.
