Player Outlook
After a slow start to his rookie season, Allgeier came on incredibly strong in the second half. Allgeier averaged just under 100 rushing yards per game (96) after Week 13 and scored inside the top 10 at running back in three of his last four games. Volume was certainly a factor in Allgeier's stretch run where he averaged 17.8 rushing attempts per game, and that number is going to collapse after the Falcons used a top-10 pick on RB Bijan Robinson. Despite the promising rookie season, Allgeier enters 2023 as a handcuff who could see some surprise red-zone and change-of-pace touches. He makes for a high-upside gamble for those who missed RB in the first few rounds starting in Round 10, and those who use a first-round pick on Robinson could look to handcuff Allgeier as soon as Round 9.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Back-to-back duds

Allgeier rushed seven times for 12 yards and caught two of three targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 20-6 loss versus Detroit. Allgeier stood out in Week 1 with two touchdowns, but he's submitted mediocre production in back-to-back games since then. In Week 2, he saw 16 rushing attempts, so there was still optimism about his fantasy outlook even though he didn't find the end zone. However, he saw his rushing attempts cut by more than half versus Detroit, as the Falcons surprisingly leaned on the pass. It's encouraging that Allgeier was still involved in the offense even though Atlanta abandoned the run, but it appears he may be a touchdown-dependent fantasy option moving forward.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Modest production in Week 2

Allgeier rushed 16 times for 48 yards during Sunday's 25-24 win over the Packers Allgeier saw three fewer rushing attempts than Bijan Robinson, who shined with 172 scrimmage yards on 23 touches. After a stellar season opener, the red flags in Allgeier's fantasy profile were on display against the Packers. The BYU product wasn't efficient. Last week, he averaged 5.0 yards per carry versus Carolina, but he was at just 3.0 versus Green Bay. He also wasn't involved in the passing attack after logging three targets in Week 1. Allgeier will presumably continue to carve out a role in Atlanta's run-heavy offense, but he's not a strong fantasy option unless he's handling most of the red-zone work.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Sleeper RBs

One of the more surprising stat lines from Week 1 was Allgeier against the Panthers. Even with Bijan Robinson now on the roster, Allgeier still led the Falcons with 15 carries, which he turned into 75 yards and two touchdowns. And he added three catches for 19 yards on three targets. It wasn't like Robinson was bad (10 carries for 56 yards and six catches for 27 yards and a touchdown on six targets), but it's clear the Falcons are going to lean on both running backs. Robinson played 63 percent of the snaps, and Allgeier was at 56 percent. Against the Packers this week, Allgeier should be considered a flex in all formats if he's going to continue to get that much work in tandem with Robinson, who remains a must-start option in all leagues.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Scores twice in Week 1

Allgeier rushed 15 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 24-10 win over the Panthers. He also caught all three of his targets for 19 yards. Allgeier finished with more rushing attempts and rushing yards than Bijan Robinson, and the two running backs accounted for all three of the Falcons' touchdowns. Overall, Allgeier recorded 18 touches for 94 yards, while Robinson finished with 16 touches for 83 yards. Robinson is certainly the more dynamic back, but Allgeier consistently gets the job done and figures to have a solid role in Atlanta's run-heavy attack moving forward. It's also extremely encouraging to see Allgeier involved in the passing game, as he caught three or more passes just three times across 16 appearances last year.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: One carry in preseason debut

Allgeier carried the ball once for -1 yards in Friday's 13-13 tie against the Bengals in preseason action. Allgeier was the first back on the field and carried the ball for seven yards on the opening play from scrimmage, though the gain was ultimately washed out due to a holding penalty. He touched the ball only one additional time, which resulted in a loss. Bijan Robinson led the backfield Friday and will do the same when the Falcons kick off the regular season against the Panthers.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Looking at reduced role

Allgeier will be joined by No. 8 overall draft pick Bijan Robinson in the Atlanta backfield, The Athletic's Josh Kendall reports. A fifth-rounder last spring, Allgeier set the team rookie rushing record with 1,035 yards but will have a hard time matching that number while competing for carries with one of the best RB prospects of the past decade. Robinson's combine weight (215) was just five pounds shy of Allgeier's listed weight, and the rookie ran a much faster 40-yard dash (4.46 compared to 4.60) than his new backfield mate. The two players had similar production their final two collegiate seasons, but Robinson did it at a younger age against tougher competition and with far more receiving production to boot. Allgeier may thus be reduced to a backup role as soon as Week 1, and at best he'll be splitting work in a backfield where 32-year-old Cordarrelle Patterson is also under contract and could get some touches. Even in Arthur Smith's run-heavy offense, Allgeier probably won't get enough work to be a fantasy starter if Robinson stays healthy.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: RBs to Start

Allgeier was great as the Start of the Week in Week 17, scoring 16 PPR points against Arizona with 20 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown and one catch for 12 yards on one target. He's now scored at least 15 PPR points in three games in a row, and he should finish the season strong against the Buccaneers, who aren't expected to play their starters for much of the game, if at all. Allgeier needs 100 yards for a 1,000-yard season, so hopefully he gets enough carries to make that happen, and I like him once again as a standout No. 2 Fantasy running back in all leagues.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Rushing score against Arizona

Allgeier rushed the ball 20 times for 83 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-19 win over Arizona. He added one reception for 12 yards. Allgeier continued his late-season breakout, and he saw a career-high 20 carries in Atlanta's Week 17 win. Though he failed to crack 100 yards, he still managed long gains of 17 and 14 yards while also plunging into the end zone from five yards away early in the second quarter. Since emerging out of a committee to serve as Atlanta's top back in Week 15, Allgeier has combined to rack up 348 total yards and two touchdowns across three games.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

The matchup is irresistible, and even though it's a certainty Cordarrelle Patterson will take work away, the Falcons have seemingly committed to Allgeier over the past few weeks and don't have a good reason to go away from him. He's expected to see the most work in a great matchup, which puts him in line to be a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB. Patterson is at best a non-PPR touchdown-dependent flex.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Strong showing against Ravens

Allgeier carried the ball 18 times for 74 yards and caught four of five targets for 43 yards in Saturday's 17-9 loss to Baltimore. The rookie has now topped 100 scrimmage yards in back-to-back games, and with Atlanta now eliminated from playoff contention, it's likely Allgeier will remain the top option in the Falcons backfield for their final two games ahead of 31-year-old Cordarrelle Patterson, who may not factor into the team's future plans. Heading into a Week 17 clash with the Cardinals, Allgeier has 817 rushing yards through 14 contests, giving him a shot at a 1,000-yard campaign with two games remaining.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Week 16 Adds (RB Preview)

If not for an awful matchup against the Ravens, Allgeier would be my favorite running back to add this week. He's played right around half the snaps in four of his past five games and has been very efficient with the touches he's received, averaging five yards per carry and catching 100% of the passes thrown his way. But the Ravens run defense is a juggernaut, so proceed with caution.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Week 16 Waiver Priority List

Allgeier just had a career game in Week 15 at New Orleans with 17 carries for 139 yards and a touchdown, along with one catch for minus-3 yards on one target. He's not someone I want to start in Week 16 at Baltimore, but I would like to potentially use him in Week 17 against Arizona. He's going to continue sharing touches with Cordarrelle Patterson, but the Falcons might start giving Allgeier more work to close the season to see if he's their potential starter in 2023. For this year, if he does anything of significance against the Ravens in Week 16 then he could be a flex option in Week 17 against the Cardinals.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Week 16 Early Waiver Targets (Add/Drop)

Allgeier didn't need an injury to become the Falcons lead back Sunday; he seemingly took the opportunity and ran with it. Cordarrelle Patterson was still plenty involved, but with Caleb Huntley leaving with an ankle injury, Allgeier led the backfield in carries and yards, while both he and Patterson found the end zone. The Falcons passing game was nonexistent with rookie Desmond Ridder making his first start, so Allgeier had to carry a very heavy load under difficult conditions, and he acquitted himself very well. There's no guarantee that he'll be the team's lead back in Week 16, but it wouldn't be surprising either. It's a tough matchup against Baltimore, but Allgeier will probably be in the RB3 range in my rankings for that one.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Sneaky Sleeper (Lineup Decisions)

Allgeier isn't expected to lead the Falcons in rushing, but he is coming off a game where he split snaps pretty evenly with Cordarrelle Patterson and was stunningly efficient. I always like to use running backs on Thursday nights, especially against tired defenses that got stomped four days prior. Allgeier is a good flex I'd use in non-PPR over Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Robinson, Taysom Hill and Brian Robinson.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Tallies first career touchdown

Allgeier carried the ball 16 times for 50 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-17 loss to the Bengals. After splitting work with Caleb Huntley in Week 6, Allgeier took hold of the lead back role against the Bengals by accounting for 16 of the team's 23 carries by running backs. He failed to tally a gain of at least 10 yards, though he did manage a pair of nine and eight-yard rushes, respectively. However, the highlight of his day came on a one-yard plunge into the end zone just before halftime -- the first touchdown of his career. Allgeier has at least 10 carries in five of his six games this season, tallying 50 or more rushing yards on three occasions.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Posts 15 carries in win

Allgeier recorded 15 carries for 51 yards during Sunday's 28-14 victory over the 49ers. Allgeier saw one fewer rushing attempt and totaled eight fewer yards than Caleb Huntley, though neither running back saw any work work in the passing game. With Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) sidelined, the rookie Allgeier has rushed 23 times for 129 yards while securing his only target for 20 yards over the past two weeks. Both running backs figure to see increased work as long as Patterson remains on injured reserve, but their overall potential will continue to be limited as long as they continue to split carries.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Stifled by Tampa Bay

Allgeier rushed 13 times for 45 yards during Sunday's 21-15 loss to Tampa Bay. Allgeier led the backfield in rushing attempts during the first game without Cordarrelle Patterson, who's set to miss at least four contests while on IR with a knee injury. However, the rookie fifth-round pick struggled to find any running room against Tampa Bay's strong run defense. Caleb Huntley was a little more efficient on the ground, rushing eight times for 34 yards, but Avery Williams syphoned the only rushing touchdown. Allgeier figures to be the No. 1 option with Patterson sidelined, but Atlanta certainly won't shy away from getting other players involved, though the Falcons' running backs face another stiff test against the 49ers in Week 6.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: RBs to Sit

Allgeier is worth adding in all leagues with Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) out, but you shouldn't plan on using Allgeier as a starting Fantasy option at Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers struggled with Clyde Edwards-Helaire last week, but he's the lone running back to top eight PPR points against this defense, including matchups with Ezekiel Elliott, Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon. Allgeier just had 10 carries for 84 yards and one catch for 20 yards on one target in Week 4 against Cleveland in the game Patterson was hurt, but it's doubtful he'll dominate touches with Caleb Huntley also a factor. I'm fine with Allgeier as a flex play if you're stuck, but for now just stash him on the bench in Week 5 given the opponent.

  • Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Week 5 Adds (RB Preview)

It will be a timeshare, but Allgeier appears most likely to lead the Falcons running backs for as long as Cordarrelle Patterson is out. He had great success in Week 4, producing 104 yards on just 11 touches and played more on third downs than Caleb Huntley. Both Huntley and Damien Williams are deep stash options as well.
