Player Outlook
Hubbard was quietly efficient behind a Panthers offensive line that got into an excellent groove on the ground in the second half. Hubbard averaged 4.9 yards per carry and even showed an evolved ability to impact the pass game (sixth-best yards per route run). He could operate in a similar role in 2023 if free agent acquisition Miles Sanders operates in a similar role to what D'Onta Foreman was for them in 2022, but there's also a chance Sanders eats into his role - specifically on passing downs. Hubbard is a middling dart throw in the final rounds given Sanders' injury history.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Workhorse role to finish season

Hubbard rushed 23 times for 83 yards and brought in both targets for nine yards in the Panthers' 9-0 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. As has typically been the case during the latter portion of the season, Hubbard handled the clear lead-back role and furnished his fourth tally of more than 80 rushing yards in the final six games, which all came in conjunction with 20-plus-carry workloads. Hubbard set new career bests with 902 rushing yards and 233 receiving yards across 17 games on the campaign, sending him into the offseason with plenty of momentum.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Eclipses 70 total yards in loss

Hubbard rushed 11 times for 45 yards and secured four of five targets for 26 yards in the Panthers' 26-0 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. Hubbard didn't have anywhere near the opportunities he'd enjoyed in several recent games, with the Panthers' inability to keep up with the Jaguars helping to neutralize the ground game. Hubbard's carry total was his lowest since Week 11, and he'll have one more opportunity to put together a productive effort in what has been a solid 2023 campaign when Carolina hosts the Buccaneers in Week 18.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Cleared for Sunday

Hubbard (hamstring) was as full practice participant Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Jacksonville. The Panthers listed Hubbard as limited Wednesday and Thursday but apparently liked what they saw in practice and don't have any doubts about his Week 16 availability. He has a five-game streak with at least 64 percent snap share, 14 carries, 17 touches and 11.6 PPR points, piling up 446 yards and four TDs in that span.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Limited again Thursday

Hubbard (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Thursday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. As was the case Wednesday, Hubbard is operating with a cap on his reps due to a hamstring issue one day later, while fellow running back Miles Sanders practiced without limitations due to a toe concern. Hubbard thus has one more chance to get back to all activity this week before the Panthers potentially give him an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game in Jacksonville.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Dealing with hamstring issue

Hubbard was a limited participant in practice Wednesday due to a hamstring injury. In the wake of the Panthers' Week 16 loss to the Packers, Miles Sanders (toe) was the only Carolina running back who was reported to have sustained an injury in the contest. However, Sanders was able to log a full session to kick off Week 17 prep, while Hubbard operated with a cap on his reps. As such, the backfield situation will be monitored over the next two days of practice to see if Hubbard may be in danger of yielding snaps to Sanders on Sunday at Jacksonville.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Heavy workload in Week 16 loss

Hubbard rushed 16 times for 43 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for eight yards in the Panthers' 33-30 loss to the Packers on Sunday. Hubbard once again had the backfield work early mostly to himself, outpacing Miles Sanders by 13 carries. However, he found surprisingly tough sledding against a Packers defense that had been frequently vulnerable to the run, but he managed to salvage his fantasy day with a four-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that served as his fifth of the campaign and tied his career high. Hubbard next takes aim at a tough Jaguars run defense in a Week 17 road matchup New Year's Eve.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: RBs to Start

Hubbard once again had a solid outing in Week 15 against Atlanta with 22 carries for 87 yards and two catches for 16 yards on two targets. He's now scored at least 11.6 PPR points in four games in a row, and he's averaging 16.6 PPR points over that span. This week, Hubbard is taking on a Packers defense that has been awful against running backs since Week 10. Over that six-game span, seven running backs have scored at least 11.3 PPR points, with three in a row scoring at least 21.3 PPR points. Green Bay has allowed seven total touchdowns and five running backs to gain at least 95 total yards during that stretch. Hubbard should be considered a quality No. 2 Fantasy running back in all leagues in Week 16.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Over 100 total yards in win

Hubbard rushed 22 times for 87 yards and secured both targets for 16 yards in the Panthers' 9-7 win over the Falcons on Sunday. Hubbard outpaced Miles Sanders by 16 carries in the victory and parlayed the opportunity into his second straight 87-yard tally on the ground. The second-year back also recorded multiple catches for the seventh time in the last eight games, and he's now logged over 20 rush attempts in three straight contests. Hubbard heads into a Week 16 home matchup against the Packers' porous run defense with the lead job firmly in hand.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Sleeper RBs

The Falcons are the only team in the NFL yet to allow a running back to score a touchdown on the ground. We'll see if Hubbard can crack the code, and Hubbard should be considered a borderline starter in all leagues. He's scored at least 11.6 PPR points in three games in a row, including two outings with at least 20.2 PPR points. In his past two games against Tampa Bay and New Orleans, Hubbard has 48 carries for 191 yards and two touchdowns and two catches for 9 yards on two targets. With Thomas Brown calling plays for the Panthers, Hubbard has excelled, and that should continue in Week 15 against the Falcons.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Continues to lead team's offense

Hubbard rushed 23 times for 87 yards and caught both of his targets for nine yards in Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Saints. Hubbard had more than twice as many rushing yards (59) as Bryce Young had passing yards (29) in the first half. Unfortunately for the 24-year-old running back, the negative game script coupled with more touches for Miles Sanders (who finished with 10 carries for 74 yards) limited Hubbard's opportunities after halftime. Hubbard has built up some momentum with at least 92 scrimmage yards in three consecutive games heading into a Week 15 matchup with the Falcons.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Sleeper RBs

Hubbard has been great the past two games against Tennessee and Tampa Bay with at least 20.2 PPR points in each outing. Over that span, he has 39 carries for 149 yards and three touchdowns and five catches for 47 yards on five targets. With Thomas Brown calling plays for the Panthers, Hubbard has excelled, and the Saints have become a favorable matchup of late. New Orleans has allowed a running back to score in three games in a row, with David Montgomery and Bijan Robinson each scoring at least 12.5 PPR points against the Saints in the past two weeks. Hubbard is worth using as a flex in all leagues in Week 14.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Carries offense in Week 13 loss

Hubbard carried the ball 25 times for 104 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Buccaneers. Facing a stout Tampa Bay front seven, Hubbard punched home a pair of one-yard TDs en route to his first 100-yard game of the season and the third of his career. The 25 totes were also a career high for Hubbard, while Miles Sanders managed only 29 scrimmage yards on nine touches, a clear sign that interim head coach Chris Tabor isn't interested in maintaining the backfield timeshare Frank Reich had been deploying. Hubbard figures to see a big workload again in Week 14 against the Saints.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Effective in loss

Hubbard rushed the ball 14 times for 45 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Titans. He added five receptions on five targets for 47 yards. Miles Sanders saw an increased workload in the loss, but Hubbard's opportunity was largely undisturbed. He accounted for the Panthers' only touchdown on a five-yard run midway through the third quarter, but the majority of the rest of his production came as a pass catcher. That allowed him to rack up his highest yardage total from scrimmage this season. Despite fairly steady opportunity, Hubbard is likely to remain reliant upon receiving work and touchdowns to post significant performances.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Highly efficient outing Sunday

Hubbard rushed 10 times for 57 yards and brought in both targets for eight yards in the Panthers' 33-10 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday. Hubbard logged one less carry than backfield mate Miles Sanders, who saw a notable resurgence in rushing work Sunday, but the former outgained his teammate by seven yards on the ground. Hubbard has seen double-digit rush attempts in four of the last five games, falling just one short of doing so in Week 10 as well. Therefore, despite Sanders' reintegration into the ground attack, Hubbard should retain a significant role in a Week 12 road battle against the Titans.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: RBs to Sit

We'll see how much longer Hubbard remains in the lead running back role for the Panthers, but he's struggled just as much as Miles Sanders. In his past three games, Hubbard has averaged 6.0 PPR points against Houston, Indianapolis and Chicago, and he only has one touchdown on the season. The Cowboys are No. 7 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, and Hubbard and the entire Panthers offense will be tough to trust in this matchup. Hubbard is a desperation flex option at best in Week 11.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Sleeper RBs

We'll see if Hubbard remains the lead running back for the Panthers in Week 9 against the Colts, but he dominated playing time in Week 8 against the Texans after he played 67 percent of the snaps, even with Miles Sanders healthy. Now, Hubbard managed just 15 carries for 28 yards and two catches for 26 yards on two targets against the Texans, but he could be a flex if he remains in this role for Week 9. The Colts have allowed seven running backs to score at least 15.1 PPR points this season, including six in the past five games.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Named Week 9 starter

Coach Frank Reich confirmed Friday that Hubbard will start at running back Sunday against the Colts, Steve Reed of The Associated Press reports. Hubbard started the Panthers' previous two games, the first of which Miles Sanders missed due to a shoulder injury. Sanders returned in Carolina's 15-13 Week 8 win over the Texans, but Hubbard had 17 touches to Sanders' two. Reich said the two running backs will split carries against Indianapolis, so Hubbard may cede a larger portion of touches to Sanders despite maintaining his starting role.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Strong showing as lead back

Hubbard carried the ball 19 times for 88 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Dolphins. He added one reception for two yards. Hubbard accounted for 19 of Carolina's 25 rushing attempts in the absence of Miles Sanders (shoulder). He delivered consistent gains to keep the offense on schedule and also sprinkled in a long gain of 17 yards as well as a six-yard touchdown run. Hubbard was curiously disregarded as a receiver -- he had multiple targets in every game leading up to Sunday's matchup -- though his rushing volume left little to complain about. Carolina will head into a Week 7 bye, but there's at least a possibility that Hubbard will have the chance to lead the backfield again in a Week 8 matchup against Houston.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Sleeper RBs

Miles Sanders (shoulder) was ruled out for Week 6 at Miami, which means Hubbard will serve as the lead running back for the Panthers. He's worth using as a low-end No. 2 running back or flex option in the majority of Fantasy leagues. Hubbard has four games this season with at least seven total touches, and he scored at least 8.9 PPR points in two of them. Last year, Hubbard did well with an increased workload, and hopefully that happens against the Dolphins. He had five games in 2022 with at least 10 total touches, and he scored at least 12.5 PPR points in three of them. The Dolphins have allowed four running backs this season to score at least 14.7 PPR points with Austin Ekeler, Joshua Kelley, Rhamondre Stevenson and James Cook. Those are four of six running backs with at least 13 total touches against Miami this year, and the two who failed to succeed were Javonte Williams in Week 3 (8.5 PPR points) and Eric Gray in Week 5 (3.6 PPR points). I'm not expecting a huge game from Hubbard against Miami -- Sanders only has two games this year with more than 7.7 PPR points -- but hopefully Hubbard can dominate touches and post a quality stat line.
