  • Lions' Chase Lucas: Back at practice

The Lions designated Lucas (hamstring) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic reports. Lucas, who's missed each of Detroit's last four contests while on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue, had his 21-day elevation window opened following his return to Wednesday's practice. Unless both the Lions and Seahawks win their respective matchups this weekend, the Week 18 contest versus Green Bay would be the rookie's last chance to suit up this year.

  • Lions' Chase Lucas: Heading to IR

Detroit placed Lucas (hamstring) on its injured reserve list Saturday. Lucas apparently sustained a hamstring injury Friday during practice, and he'll now be forced to miss at least the Lions' next four games as he recovers. Detroit will need to try to find a way to replace his production on special teams in the meantime.

  • Lions' Chase Lucas: Out with hamstring issue

  • Lions' Chase Lucas: Full participant Wednesday

Lucas (ankle) was listed as a full participant on the Lions' injury report Wednesday. Lucas has not played since suffering an ankle injury during Detroit's Week 7 loss to the Cowboys. However, the rookie appears to be healthy again after logging a full session during the Lions' first practice of Week 11. Expect Lucas to reprise a core special-teams role against the Giants on Sunday.

  • Lions' Chase Lucas: Out again

Lucas (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Packers, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports. Lucas will miss a a second straight game due to an ankle injury. He's played primarily on special teams this season, so his absence shouldn't impact Detroit's defense.

  • Lions' Chase Lucas: Secures backup role

Lucas made the initial 53-man roster as a backup slot cornerback, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. The seventh-round rookie had an impressive summer, beating out incumbent starting slot cornerback AJ Parker for the backup job at nickelback behind free-agent acquisition Mike Hughes. It is possible that Lucas's versatility won out, as he not only contributes on special teams, but Lucas can move over to safety, too.
