Player Outlook
Moore failed to live up to his Fantasy hype in 2022 and even finished outside the WR2 range (WR33 overall) while dealing with arguably the worst quarterback play of his career. You can look no further than Moore's catchable target rate (90th-best) to know what kind of quarterback play he dealt with last season from Baker Mayfield to Sam Darnold. However, there is no certainty he'll get a major upgrade with Justin Fields. It remains to be seen whether Fields can take a big jump as a passer, and these two will have to build rapport from scratch. Even then, Chicago figures to be a run-first offense. It will be very important to monitor how fast Fields and Moore get on the same page in camp. If they can develop chemistry early, Moore could emerge as a high-end WR2 and pay off in Rounds 4-5.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Monster primetime performance

Moore brought in 11 of 13 targets for 114 yards in the Bears' 12-10 win over the Vikings on Monday. The veteran wideout was the epitome of a No. 1 receiver in the low-scoring win, accounting for well over half of Justin Fields' 217 passing yards while leading the Bears in receptions and targets by a wide margin as well. Moore also saved his best for last, recording 16- and 36-yard grabs on what would turn out to be Chicago's game-winning drive. Moore's catch total was a season high, and his yardage tally was his first over the century mark since Week 5. Following the Week 13 bye, Moore gets a crack at a Lions defense he posted a 7-96-1 line against during the first meeting between the division rivals.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Rekindles chemistry with Fields

Moore caught seven of nine targets for 96 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-26 loss to the Lions. Moore's production picked back up with Justin Fields (thumb) throwing him the ball for the first time since Week 6. After failing to get into the end zone in any of Tyson Bagent's four starts, Moore scored his sixth touchdown in Fields' seven starts. The score came on a 39-yard deep ball in the third quarter. Moore fell four yards short of his fourth 100-yard receiving performance in Fields' last five full games, so Chicago's No. 1 receiver will have plenty of Week 12 fantasy appeal on Monday Night Football against Minnesota's shaky secondary.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Team-high receiving yardage in win

Moore secured five of nine targets for 58 yards and rushed once for one yard in the Bears' 16-13 win over the Panthers on Thursday night. Moore set the pace for the Bears in receiving yards and targets while tying Cole Kmet for the team lead in receptions. The talented wideout wasn't able to come close to a top-end performance against his old squad, but Moore's receiving yardage total was his highest since his breakout 230-yard effort Week 5 against the Commanders. The veteran could see a boost in production again in a Week 11 divisional clash against the Lions on Sunday, Nov. 19 that should mark Justin Fields' (thumb) return to action.

  • Bears' D.J. Moore: WRS to Start

This is a revenge game for Moore, who spent the first five seasons of his career in Carolina before the Panthers traded him to Chicago this offseason. It would be nice if Justin Fields (thumb) were active for this game, but he's listed as doubtful, meaning Tyson Bagent will start again. That's been a bad formula for Moore since he has three games in a row with 55 yards or less and no touchdowns, and he's scored 9.5 PPR points or less in each of his past two outings against the Chargers and Saints. I'm going to count on the Bears coaching staff to put Moore in position to make plays this week against his former team, and the Panthers have struggled with No. 1 receivers for the majority of this season (see Chris Olave in Week 2, DK Metcalf in Week 3, Justin Jefferson in Week 4, Josh Reynolds without Amon-Ra St. Brown in Week 5, Tyreek Hill in Week 6 and Michael Pittman in Week 9). Look for Moore to get his revenge on Thursday night.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Another modest performance

Moore secured three of five targets for 55 yards in the Bears' 24-17 loss to the Saints on Sunday. He also lost a fumble. It was a ragged day all the way around for the normally reliable receiver, who finished behind both Cole Kmet and Darnell Mooney in receptions while also losing a fumble in Bears territory early in the third quarter that led to a Saints field goal. Moore has now been under the 100-yard mark in four consecutive contests after a stellar two-game stretch in Weeks 4 and 5, but he could have Justin Fields (thumb) back under center in a Week 10 home matchup against the Panthers on Thursday night.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Quiet game in Week 9 loss

Moore secured three of five targets for 55 yards in the Bears' 24-17 loss to the Saints on Sunday. He also lost a fumble. • Bears' D.J. Moore: Sit Him (Lineup Decisions)

If the Bears had more offensive creativity, or if Tyson Bagent was a better passer who used Moore a little further downfield, there would be enough there to confidently start Moore. But the worry is that Bagent won't have the time to focus on longer passes for anyone in the Bears offense, much less the one guy the Saints are likely to try and take away. Moore is OK as a flex play, more so in PPR, but he's not a must-start guy like he was a few weeks back. I'd rather go with Nico Collins, Chris Godwin or Gabe Davis.

  • Bears' D.J. Moore: WRs to Sit

I'm still starting Moore in three-receiver leagues in Week 9 at New Orleans, but I'm not expecting a big game in this matchup. Moore has struggled with Tyson Bagent starting for the injured Justin Fields (thumb), and this is a tough matchup on the road. Moore has 55 receiving yards or less in his past three games, with Bagent starting two of them, and Moore hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 5. In Week 8 at the Chargers, Moore was held to four catches for 55 yards on six targets. The Saints are No. 14 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers, and Marcus Lattimore and this secondary should make things tough for Moore. Also, in his past three games against the Saints, Moore has combined for five catches for 41 yards and no touchdowns.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Eight catches in win over Vegas

Moore caught eight of nine targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 30-12 win over the Raiders. With undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent under center in place of Justin Fields (thumb), the Bears' passing game was limited to short, safe tosses, but Moore was still the team's top option through the air. The former Panther has exactly eight catches in three of the last four games, amassing a 29-466-4 line on 36 targets over that stretch, but if Fields isn't able to return in Week 8 against the Chargers, Moore will likely be more of a floor than a ceiling play.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Modest output in loss

Moore brought in five of eight targets for 51 yards in the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Vikings on Sunday. Moore did lead the Bears in receptions, receiving yards and targets, but his numbers were a far cry from his standout 8-230-3 line against the Commanders in a Thursday night Week 5 win. Moore's output was naturally affected by Justin Fields' early exit from the game with a hand injury and undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent replacing him. Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports X-rays on Fields' hand were negative and that the third-year quarterback will undergo an MRI on Monday, and Moore's near-term fantasy prospects will likely hinge largely on how soon Fields can get back under center.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Explodes for career-best showing

Moore brought in eight of 10 targets for 230 yards and three touchdowns in the Bears' 40-20 win over the Commanders on Thursday night. The prized offseason acquisition was coming off his most productive game in a Bears uniform yet in Week 4 against the Broncos, when he'd posted an 8-131-1 line. Moore managed to outdo himself by a wide margin on the same number of catches Thursday, hauling in touchdown grabs of 20, 11 and 56 yards, with the last two coming in contested situations. Moore's third scoring catch, which saw him run free 48 yards down the sideline into the end zone after the reception, sealed the game for Chicago by extending its 30-20 lead. Moore now has five touchdowns in five games after recording seven across 17 contests with the Panthers a year ago, and he'll next get a crack at a vulnerable Vikings defense in a Week 6 home matchup Sunday. Oct. 15.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Best game of season Sunday

Moore secured eight of nine targets for 131 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 31-28 loss to the Broncos on Sunday. Moore comfortably set the pace for the Bears in receiving yards while tying with Cole Kmet for the lead in targets as well. The veteran wideout's touchdown grab was a thing of beauty along the right sideline in the end zone in the first quarter from 29 yards, and all of his receptions, receiving yardage and target totals were his best of the season. Moore will certainly be a primary beneficiary if Justin Fields can continue to perform as he did for most of Sunday's four-touchdown effort, and the duo will look to remain hot in a Week 5 Thursday night matchup on the road against the Commanders.

  • Bears' D.J. Moore: WRs to Start

It hasn't been pretty for Moore to start his Bears tenure, but he has scored at least 13.1 PPR points in each of his past two games. He has a great matchup in Week 4 against the Broncos, and much like I'm trusting Justin Fields against Denver, I'll do the same with Moore as a No. 2 Fantasy receiver. The Broncos have already allowed five receivers to score at least 12.6 PPR points in three games, and Moore has the chance for his best game of the season in this matchup at home.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Scores TD in garbage time

Moore had three receptions on six targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-10 loss to Kansas City. Moore cashed in his first touchdown with the Bears on the team's final offensive drive of an ugly loss Sunday. Garbage-time scores count all the same in fantasy, giving the wideout his second consecutive quality line after going for 104 yards last week. He did leave a chunk of yards on the table on a deep pass attempt from Justin Fields that was dropped by the normally sure-handed receiver. Moore will draw a tough matchup against shutdown corner Patrick Surtain when the Bears face the Broncos next Sunday.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Quiet Bears debut

Moore finished with two catches on two targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Packers. Moore was held in check in his Bears debut, with five teammates garnering more looks than him in the passing game. To his credit, Moore hauled in the only pair of throws his way, but he nonetheless failed to make a meaningful impact in his first game with quarterback Justin Fields. Chicago's top offseason addition will strive to make a bigger splash in Week 2 while facing a Tampa Bay secondary he knows well from his time in Carolina.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Makes another big play

Moore caught one of two targets for 40 yards in Saturday's preseason game against Buffalo. Moore had his second long catch-and-run of the preseason, following a 62-yard TD on a screen pass a couple weeks prior. QB Justin Fields also has familiar teammates WR Darnell Mooney and TE Cole Kmet as receiving weapons, but there's no doubt about Moore being the top option heading into a tricky Week 1 matchup with a Green Bay defense that has the option of using CB Jaire Alexander (groin/foot) in shadow coverage.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Scores in Chicago preseason debut

Moore caught his only target for a 62-yard touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against Tennessee. Moore was an after-the-catch monster both at Carolina in the NFL and at Maryland in college, so the skills he demonstrated on his 62-yard screen pass touchdown were nothing new. It certainly is something new for the Chicago offense, however, and provides a direct example of how the Bears offense could be significantly improved in 2023. Plays like that are a reminder of why Moore will likely be Chicago's lead target in 2023, and with considerable distance between himself and whichever second-leading pass catcher emerges.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Chemistry with Fields improving

Bears QB Justin Fields said Thursday that his chemistry with Moore has "come on quickly" in recent weeks, ESPN's Courtney Cronin reports. Moore called the connection "a work in progress" at the start of OTAs in May, two months after the Bears traded for him as part of a deal that sent Carolina the No. 1 overall pick. It sounds like he and Fields have made progress this spring, with the QB mentioning Thursday that he's been impressed by Moore's ability to recognize different coverages. The 26-year-old wideout joins an offense that was last in the league for pass attempts and passing yardage last year, but there's hope for a big step forward with Fields entering his third pro season after the Bears added Moore and rookie OT Darnell Wright (10th overall pick) this spring.

  • Bears' DJ Moore: Bound for Chicago

The Bears agreed Friday to acquire Moore and four draft picks from the Panthers in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Along with Moore, the Bears will receive the Nos. 9 and 61 overall picks in this year's draft, a 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 second-round selection. Moore, who caught 63 passes for 888 yards and seven touchdowns in 17 games for the Panthers in 2022, should serve as Chicago's top wideout this coming season, while Carolina is now in position to take a quarterback first overall next month.

  • Panthers' DJ Moore: Quiet in finale

Moore caught one of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 10-7 win over the Saints. Moore closed with another underwhelming output due to Carolina's poor quarterback play, as Sam Darnold completed merely five passes for 43 yards while throwing a pair of picks. After three straight 1,000-yard campaigns, Moore finishes this season with just 888 yards in 17 games. While his 63 catches and 117 targets both marked lows since his rookie year as well, Moore at least compensated by scoring a personal-best seven times. Although it's unclear who will be throwing him passes next season, Moore figures to remain atop the Panthers' wide-receiver depth chart, giving him a solid floor despite dealing with Carolina's quarterback carousel the past couple campaigns.
