Player Outlook
Jones wasn't the highest profile acquisition the Jaguars made last offseason, but he immediately developed a rapport with Trevor Lawrence that led to 121 targets, good for 18th-most in the NFL in 2022. With Calvin Ridley added to the mix, you can expect Jones' targets to tumble in 2023, but how fast Ridley can establish himself in the red zone might be the key to Jones' continued success. Last season, Jones drew the 12th-most red zone targets in the NFL. If Ridley eats into that share as well, Jones will settle into more of the WR5 range. Look for Jones starting in Round 12.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Won't play Sunday

Jones (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Texans. After gathering in five of seven passes for 55 yards and one touchdown in a Week 1 win at Indianapolis, Jones was blanked on six targets this past Sunday against the Chiefs. On Monday, coach Doug Pederson revealed that Jones was dealing with a knee injury, leaving the wide receiver day-to-day. Jones proceeded to log no practice reps Wednesday through Friday before the Jaguars made a ruling on his Week 3 availability, so his status may be more of a week-to-week proposition at this point.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Still not practicing

Jones (knee) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Jones didn't practice Wednesday, so what the wideout is able to do Friday will be pivotal with regard to his chances of suiting up Sunday against the Texans. If he's out or limited this weekend, Jamal Agnew and Tim Jones would be candidates to log added snaps at wide receiver behind Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Won't practice Wednesday

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Wednesday that Jones (knee) won't practice but remains day-to-day, John Shipley of SI.com reports. Jones sustained a knee injury during Jacksonville's loss to the Chiefs in Week 2, though he was able to return to the contest after initially leaving in the first half. In the event that Jones isn't able to suit up for Sunday's game against the Texans, Pederson confirmed that Tim Jones will be the next man up to serve as Jacksonville's No. 3 wideout behind Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Dealing with knee injury

Coach Doug Pederson said Jones is considered day-to-day with a knee injury and will undergo further testing Monday, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Jones briefly left Sunday's game against the Chiefs in the first half with a knee issue but returned and ended up playing 66 percent of the team's offensive snaps. However, he failed to record a reception on six targets. Further clarity on Jones' injury should surface Wednesday, when the Jaguars have to release their first injury report of Week 3.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Nothing on six targets

Jones failed to record a catch on six targets during Sunday's 17-9 loss to the Chiefs. The 28-year-old left the contest during the first half with a knee issue but returned to the field, and he ended up playing 66 percent of Jacksonville's offensive snaps after he played 88 percent Week 1. Jones couldn't get on the same page with QB Trevor Lawrence, and the veteran finished without a catch for the first time in 20 games (including playoffs) since joining the Jags. Jones remains a key piece of the offense but is likely to be a volatile fantasy option with Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk operating as the top targets in the passing game.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Back for second half

Jones (knee) is on the field for the Jaguars' first possession of the second half of Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Jones failed to corral either of his two targets before he exited the game in the first half due to a knee injury. Though he briefly returned to the sideline in the second quarter before retreating to the locker room again, Jones has been given the green light to return to action coming out of halftime.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Hurts knee Sunday

Jones exited Sunday's game against the Chiefs due to a knee injury and is questionable to return, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports. Before his exit, Jones didn't record a catch on two targets. In his absence, Jamal Agnew and Tim Jones are candidates to log added snaps at receiver behind Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Week 2 Waiver Priority List

Jones had an incredible touchdown catch against the Colts in Week 1, and he's clearly not going away despite the addition of Calvin Ridley. Jones had five catches for 55 yards and a touchdown on seven targets against Indianapolis, and he played the most snaps of any Jacksonville receiver (89 percent compared to 81 percent for Ridley and 60 percent for Christian Kirk). By adding Jones you're attaching yourself to Trevor Lawrence, which is a great thing to do in 2023. Jones is worth adding for 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Week 1 Waiver Priority List

While it seems like the Jaguars replaced Jones with the addition of Calvin Ridley, don't be surprised if Jones still plays plenty of snaps and sees plenty of targets. The Jaguars still value Jones as a starter, and they are likely keeping Christian Kirk in the slot. While Jones' production should decline now that Ridley is active, he can still have a lot of quality performances while playing in an explosive offense with a quarterback on the rise in Trevor Lawrence. I have no problem drafting Jones with a late-round pick and adding him for 1 percent of your remaining FAB in all leagues.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Converts two-point play

Jones did not record an official reception in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys, but he teamed up with Trevor Lawrence to complete a two-point attempt in the exhibition win. Jones was active with the starters despite not being targeted, all but confirming his status as the third wideout on the depth chart behind Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk to begin the year. The 28-year-old posted his best fantasy output after joining the Jaguars last season, but the addition of Ridley this offseason could cut into his targets. Jones will look to get more involved in the team's next preseason game against the Lions on Saturday.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Continues to provide big plays

Jones recorded five receptions on seven targets for 83 yards in Saturday's 27-20 loss to the Chiefs. Jones was doubled in targets by Christian Kirk, but he still managed to lead the Jaguars in receiving yards. His 37-yard reception early in the fourth quarter was the highlight of his performance, and it also marked Jones' seventh reception of 20 yards or more in his last nine games. Jones enjoyed his best season in the NFL in 2022, and he remains under contract with the Jaguars for the 2023 campaign. However, he is likely to lose some opportunity as the team welcomes Calvin Ridley (suspension) into its receiving corps.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Catches long touchdown

Jones recorded eight receptions on 13 targets for 74 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 31-30 wild-card round win over the Chargers. Jones had only 17 yards on eight targets in the first half, which was representative of the Jaguars' offensive success. However, that frustration disappeared late in the third quarter when Jones broke free from the Chargers' secondary to catch a 39-yard touchdown. Contrary to past seasons, Jones has emerged as a big-play threat of late by recording six receptions of at least 20 yards over his last eight games.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Quiet showing Week 18

Jones caught four of six targets for 21 yards during Saturday's 20-16 win over the Titans. Jones had a slow finish to the regular season with just eight receptions for 59 yards across the past three games. Still, it was a successful first year in Jacksonville for the 27-year-old, and he closed the regular season with career highs in receptions (82) and receiving yards (823). He should continue to work as the Jags' No. 2 wideout for the playoffs.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: WRs to Start

Since Trevor Lawrence is the Start of the Week, I like the setup for Jones, Christian Kirk and Engram in Week 18 against the Titans. We'll tout Jones here because he's due for a big game after being limited the past two weeks against the Jets and Texans for a combined seven PPR points. Prior to that, Jones had a five-game stretch where he scored at least 14 PPR points in four games, with 51 targets over that span. He also faced the Titans in Week 14 and had eight catches for 77 yards and a touchdown on 12 targets. Kirk only had five catches for 45 yards on seven targets in that first meeting, but he should do better in the rematch. And Engram went off against Tennessee in Week 14 with 11 catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns on 15 targets. This should be a big week for the Jacksonville air attack.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Slow day in blowout victory

Jones caught three passes for 24 yards on five targets against Houston on Sunday. It was Marvin Jones who saw the most opportunity Sunday (six catches on seven targets), but given that it was a 31-3 blowout in a meaningless contest, it's difficult to make any grand conclusions based on the game's numbers. Zay will likely be counted on for more when the Jaguars attempt to take down Tennessee for the AFC South title in Week 18.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Sit Him (Lineup Decisions)

Unless the Jaguars defense falls apart and the Texans find a way to put up some points, the worry is that the Jaguars won't need a huge game from Jones in order to walk away with a win. Also, the game is pretty much meaningless for Jacksonville -- their easiest path to the playoffs is winning over Tennessee next week. So who knows how aggressive the Jaguars will get? I'd rather start Brandin Cooks, D.J. Chark and Gabe Davis.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Bust Alert (Start/Sit)

It seems like a dumb idea to consider sitting Jones, and I don't plan to do that in a three-receiver league. But this could be a down game for him against the Jets, who are No. 2 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. The Jets have allowed just two touchdowns to opposing receivers since Week 8, and only three receivers have scored more than 10 PPR points against New York in the past six games. We've been hyping up Jones for weeks now, and he's been awesome with at least 14 PPR points in four of his past five games, including 55 PPR points the past two games against Tennessee and Dallas. He also has 51 targets over that five-game span as well. I hope he does well against the Jets, but this could be a matchup to avoid, especially if it's raining Thursday night. I would only start Jones in three-receiver leagues in Week 16.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Major downturn in Week 16 win

Jones secured one of four targets for 14 yards and rushed once for minus-3 yards in the Jaguars' 19-3 win over the Jets on Thursday night. Jones' numbers were a major disappointment for fantasy managers counting on him to put together a successful encore to his three-touchdown breakout just four days prior against the Cowboys. However, Trevor Lawrence focused heaviest on tight end Evan Engram in what is typically a thorny matchup for wideouts, and he distributed his passes to eight players overall. Jones' catch total was a season low, so he'll have plenty of room for improvement in a Week 17 road matchup against the Texans a week from Sunday.

  • Jaguars' Zay Jones: Possible Bust (Lineup Decisions)

Jones has been the leading target-getter among Jaguars receivers, and he looked like a No. 1 receiver last week against the Cowboys, but he faces another tough matchup in what's expected to be bad weather on Thursday. I don't doubt Jones' chances to pick up short throws, but don't expect many splash plays. He should finish as a No. 3 receiver in PPR and a borderline bench guy in non-PPR -- and much higher if the wind and rain subside.
