Wes Saxton: Joins Seattle's practice squad
Saxton was signed to the Seahawks' practice squad Tuesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
With three tight ends already on IR, and Jacob Hollister (foot) and Luke Willson (hamstring) banged up, Tyrone Swoopes is currently the only healthy option at the position the Seahawks have on the roster. Saxton provides depth in case of an emergency after seeing some time with the team in training camp.

The Seahawks waived Saxton on Saturday, John Boyle of the teams official site reports.
Saxton was a longshot to make the roster initially, considering when he signed the team was facing a laundry list of injuries and was added for depth. Now that he's done in Seattle, the South Alabama product could get claimed off waivers as early as Sunday, but he is more likely a practice squad candidate.

Seahawks' Wes Saxton: Joins Seahawks

Saxton joins a crowded Seattle tight end room and faces long odds to make the 53-man roster unless Will Dissly (kneecap), Ed Dickson (knee) and Jacob Hollister (groin) are unable to get healthy. He'll work to stand out during the preseason.

Saxton, who went undrafted out of South Alabama in 2015, has appeared in just one regular-season contest throughout his career in the league. The 49ers are pretty much set at tight end with George Kittle and Garrett Celek at the top of the depth chart, so Saxton will be a longshot to make the 53-man roster.

Wes Saxton: Waived by Detroit
Saxton was waived by the Lions on Thursday.
Saxton's time with the Lions will essentially be over before it even started, as the team waived him exactly 10 days after his signing to make room for the acquisition of fellow tight end Sean McGrath. Saxton will now look to catch on elsewhere, though a practice squad seems to be the most likely destination for the fourth-year player.

Lions' Wes Saxton: Signs with Detroit
Saxton signed a contract with the Lions on Monday, Justin Rogers of the Detroit News reports.
An undrafted free agent back in 2015, Saxton has struggled to find his niche in the NFL, bouncing around between practice squads much of the time. His lone action in the regular season came in 2015 with the Jets, though he didn't reel in a catch during that contest. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end will look to impress throughout minicamp and potentially training camp if he remains on the roster for that long, but he'll have a tough time making the final roster.

Bills' Wes Saxton: Signs with Buffalo
Saxton was signed Wednesday with the Bills, Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com reports.
Saxton, who participated in a 10-player workout for the Bills on Tuesday, will provide the offense with additional size at tight end, as the South Alabama product checks in at 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds. The 23-year-old has previously spent time on the Jets' practice squad, but has yet to record a single catch in the NFL. The Bills don't have any proven options at tight end beyond Charles Clay, so even though Saxton will be a long shot to make the roster, he should at least receive a long look during training camp.

Wes Saxton: Cut by Jets
The Jets let Saxton go on Saturday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Saxton was competing for a backup role at tight end with the Jets. Both he and Zach Sudfeld have been released by the team, which leaves Jace Amaro and Brandon Bostick to back up Kellen Davis. Saxton recorded 24 yards on three receptions in the team's final preseason game.

Saxton, a preseason All-Sun Belt choice, will provide blocking and another receiving option for the Jaguars, the Mobile Press-Register reports. The junior had 26 catches for 336 yards, but just one touchdown in 2012.The Sun Belt is not a tight end-heavy conference, but Saxton came on in the second half of 2012 and could be a nice contributor in 2013.
