The significant injuries for Week 17:

  • Though Eagles receiver Jason Avant ran into the tunnel to head back to the locker room, there are reports that he’s undergoing an X-ray for a knee/foot problem. UPDATE: Avant has returned to the game.
  • According to a report, Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson is being evaluated for a possible concussion. Not the news you want to hear as you head into the playoffs. UPDATE: Robinson is out for the rest of the game with his head injury.
  • Eagles linebacker Casey Matthews has a concussion, and his day is done.
  • Browns receiver Josh Gordon has an ankle injury, and he's been carted off to the locker room. His return is questionable. UPDATE: Gordon will not return to the game.
  • Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel has a knee injury, and he will not return to the game. His season will be over.
  • Falcons defensive end John Abraham has a left ankle injury, and he's been carted back to the locker room. Atlanta's game vs. the Buccaneers means nothing when it comes to playoff positioning -- the Falcons already have clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC -- so it's a little surprising they're still playing their starters. Including quarterback Matt Ryan. UPDATE: According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, Abraham is expected to be OK.
  • Panthers quarterback Cam Newton appears to have injured his left leg after taking a nasty-looking hit. He's receiving treatment from team trainers, and he's currently limping around on the sidelines. UPDATE: Newton is back in the game.
  • Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich has returned to the locker room with a leg injury. Reportedly, he could not put weight on his leg. He has a hip injury, and his return is questionable.
  • Rams linebacker Rocky McIntosh is being evaluated for a concussion. His return is questionable.
  • Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano has returned to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion.
  • Rams defensive tackle Michael Brockers has an ankle injury. His return is questionable.
  • Vikings receiver Jerome Simpson is temporarily out for the game while he's evaluated for a concussion. UPDATE: Simpson has returned to the game.
  • Dolphins guard Richie Incognito has a neck injury, and he's questionable to return.
