Titans rookie WR Kendall Wright spent several minutes on the ground after injuring his left knee in Sunday afternoon's practice.

Wright suffered the injury when he was hit by CB Tommie Campbell on a crossing route. The injury proved to be minor, and Wright returned shortly after. The Titans' first-round pick didn't harbor any animosity toward Campbell for the hit. Wright said afterward he's just experiencing soreness in his knee.

“He just made a play on the ball, it was a good play,” Wright said.

Ball remains out: DE Dave Ball missed his second straight practice Sunday after being excused earlier in the week for personal reasons. Ball is suffering from concussion-like symptoms, The Tennessean reported.

Ball nearly retired last season after suffering a concussion in Week 9 vs. Cincinnati. Ball missed the following two games but had two sacks against Tampa Bay upon his return Nov. 27.

“He's not contemplating retiring,” coach Mike Munchak said. “He has personal issues that he's dealing with, and that's all I know.”

Williams honors former teammate: WR Damian Williams and TE Jared Cook returned to practice after being excused Saturday to attend the funeral of former teammate O.J. Murdock.

Murdock died July 30 from an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound in Tampa, Fla. The former Titans' second-year WR roomed with Williams for several months during the offseason.

Williams spoke at Murdock's funeral and plans to dedicate the upcoming season to his close friend. Murdock's name plate from his old locker hangs from the wall of Williams' compartment inside the Titans' locker room.

“It was a wonderful service, it was beautiful,” Williams said. “I just told them how infectious he was around this building. With a guy like O.J. the first thing that comes to mind was his smile. If you ask anybody in here they'll probably tell you the same thing.”

Several starters dealing with injuries: DE Derrick Morgan and RT David Stewart were held out of Sunday's practice. Both are experiencing knee soreness, coach Mike Munchak said. Munchak expects Morgan to appear in Monday's joint practice with the Falcons, but Stewart is questionable. DT DaJohn Harris fell awkwardly on his leg near the end of practice but is fine, Munchak said. RB Darius Reynaud (ribs) returned to practice after missing Saturday's scrimmage.
