Mathews took advantage of a rare uptick in minutes, converting on three three-pointers and eclipsing double figures in a big road win Monday. The 28-year-old saw regular minutes off the bench to start the season but has largely been phased out of the rotation, as he didn't appear in eight straight games to close February. With Georges Niang (illness) not playing, Mathews answered the call and had a very productive night.

Mathews scored in single-digits for the eighth straight game, continuing to play a limited role off the bench for Atlanta. In his first full season with Atlanta in 2023-24, Mathews averaged 4.9 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.3 three-pointers and 0.6 assists across 15.0 minutes in 66 regular-season games. While he doesn't project to see a major increase in playing time heading into Year 2 in Atlanta, Mathews' perimeter-shooting skills make him a valuable reserve. He connected on 44 percent of his attempts from downtown last season.
