  • Marlins' Kyle Tyler: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Marlins outrighted Tyler to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday. Tyler failed to draw interest while on waivers and will now report to Triple-A to resume his 2024 campaign. • Marlins' Kyle Tyler: Designated for assignment

The Marlins designated Tyler for assignment Saturday. A week after being selected from Triple-A Jacksonville, Tyler will now lose his spot on Miami's 40-man roster. • Marlins' Kyle Tyler: Headed to majors

The Marlins selected Tyler's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday. Tyler will return to the majors for the first time since 2022, when he appeared in two games for the Padres. He struggled in his last outing with Jacksonville on April 14, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks over 3.1 innings while striking out four. Tyler will provide bullpen depth for the Marlins after the team transferred left-hander Josh Simpson (elbow) to the 60-day IL on Saturday.

  • Marlins' Kyle Tyler: Inks minors contract with Miami

Miami signed Tyler to a minor-league contract Thursday with an invitation to major-league spring training, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Tyler spent the entire 2023 season with the Double-A affiliate of the Mariners and posted a rough 5.60 ERA and 1.59 WHIP across 135 innings. The soon-to-be 27-year-old will function as organizational pitching depth for the Marlins leading into the 2024 campaign.

  • Mariners' Kyle Tyler: Signs MiLB deal with Seattle

Tyler agreed to a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Wednesday. Tyler spent the majority of the 2022 season at Triple-A, struggling to a 5.68 ERA in 25.1 innings between the Pacific Coast League affiliates of the Padres and Giants. The 26-year-old right-hander has made only seven career appearances at the MLB level and will function as organizational depth for Seattle leading into the 2023 campaign.

  • Kyle Tyler: Cut by Giants

The Giants released Tyler on Sunday. After electing free agency in early July, Tyler caught on with the Giants on a minor-league deal and was assigned to Triple-A Sacramento. The Giants evidently didn't see much of a future in the organization for the 25-year-old right-hander, who was cut loose after giving up four earned runs on six hits and three walks over 3.2 innings for Sacramento. Tyler could be looking to move on to his fifth organization of the season after he was previously with the Angels, Red Sox and Padres before landing with the Giants.

  • Giants' Kyle Tyler: Inks deal with San Francisco

Tyler signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Wednesday. Tyler has now changed organizations five times this season, but his latest move was on his own accord after he elected free agency earlier this month rather than accepting an outright assignment to the Padres' Triple-A affiliate in El Paso. The 25-year-old right-hander will report to Triple-A Sacramento with his new organization and will hope to earn a call-up to the major-league club at some point in the second half of the season.

  • Padres' Kyle Tyler: DFA'd again

The Padres designated Tyler for assignment Sunday. Tyler has been a fixture on the transaction wire throughout the season, as Sunday marks the sixth occasion in which he's been DFA'd dating back to spring training. He'll be exposed to waivers once again but will remain in the San Diego organization if he goes unclaimed by MLB's other 29 clubs.

  • Padres' Kyle Tyler: Contract selected by Padres

Tyler's contract was selected from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday. The Padres need a fresh bullpen arm after Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies. Tyler is capable of going multiple innings and has a 3.31 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 19 strikeouts in 16.1 innings at Triple-A.

  • Padres' Kyle Tyler: Remaining with El Paso

Tyler will remain with Triple-A El Paso after he cleared waivers Thursday. Tyler was designated for assignment by the Padres on Monday, but he has since cleared waivers and will stay with El Paso. The reliever has produced a 5.51 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 16.1 innings in 11 appearances, including two starts at Triple-A. • Padres' Kyle Tyler: Designated for assignment

Avila was designated for assignment by the Padres on Monday. Tyler was optioned to Triple-A El Paso in mid-April, and he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster after posting a 5.51 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 16.1 innings over 11 appearances (two starts) with the minor-league club. It seems likely that he'll remain in El Paso if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

  • Padres' Kyle Tyler: Claimed by Friars

Tyler was claimed off waivers by the Padres on Tuesday. It's the second time in the past month Tyler has been designated for assignment by the Angels only to be claimed by the Padres. He also had a brief stint with Boston after previously being let go by San Diego. Tyler made his major-league debut last year and had a 2.92 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 6:6 K:BB over 12.1 innings.

Tyler was designated for assignment by the Angels on Sunday. • Angels' Kyle Tyler: Back with Halos

Tyler was claimed off waivers by the Angels on Friday. Tyler was designated for assignment by the Angels in mid-March, and he'll now return to the organization after brief stints with the Padres and Red Sox. The 25-year-old had a 2.92 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 6:6 K:BB in his first taste of big-league action last year, and he could be called up when the Halos are in need of some bullpen help.

  • Padres' Kyle Tyler: Cast off roster

The Padres designated Tyler for assignment Thursday. The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Jose Azocar, whose contract was selected from the minors in advance of the Padres' Opening Day game Thursday in Arizona. Tyler held a spot on the Padres' 40-man roster for only two weeks after San Diego claimed the right-hander off waivers from the Red Sox.

  • Red Sox's Kyle Tyler: Catches on with BoSox

The Red Sox claimed Tyler off waivers from the Angels on Tuesday and optioned him to Triple-A Worcester, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports. In a corresponding move, Boston designated infielder Hudson Potts for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster for Tyler. The 25-year-old righty reached the big leagues for the first time in 2021, making all five of his appearances for the Angels out of the bullpen while submitting a 2.92 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 12.1 innings. He's typically served as a starter for most of his minor-league career, but it's unclear in what capacity Boston plans to deploy Tyler as he heads to its Triple-A affiliate.

  • Angels' Kyle Tyler: Forced to IL with toe sprain

Tyler was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right toe sprain, retroactive to Wednesday. Tyler has allowed four runs on eight hits while posting a 6:6 K:BB across 12.1 innings since receiving his first big-league call-up in late August. It's not entirely clear how the right-hander suffered the toe injury, but it could very possibly end his season. Tyler will be eligible to come off the injured list for the final two games of the regular season, but it's unclear if he might be ready in time.
