Raley (neck) won't be included on the Rays' active roster for their AL Wild Card Series with the Rangers that begins Tuesday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports. Raley was able to take batting practice Monday and seemed to come out of it with no issues, but the Rays have decided to hold him back for at least the first round of the postseason. The 29-year-old, who is dealing with a cervical strain, could rejoin the roster if the Rays advance to the divisional round.... See More ... See Less

Rays' Luke Raley: Could be left off WC roster
Raley (neck) could be left off the Rays' American League Wild Card Series roster, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Working his way back from a cervical strain, Raley took batting practice at Tropicana Field on Monday and felt good. However, he returned from the injury too quickly initially last month and had a setback, so the Rays want to make sure he's fully healthy before activating him. Because of that, it seems likely Raley will be held back until at least the ALDS, should the Rays advance. Raimel Tapia, Osleivis Basabe and Francisco Mejia are options to be included on the Rays' roster if Raley is indeed excluded.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Takes batting practice
Raley (neck) took batting practice Monday at Tropicana Field, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Raley has been on the shelf for the last couple weeks with a cervical strain but is trying to convince the Rays he's feeling well enough to be carried on their Wild Card Series roster. The 29-year-old hit .247/.337/.497 with 17 home runs in 363 plate appearances against right-handed pitching in 2023 and, if healthy, would figure to see regular action versus righties in the postseason.... Rays' Luke Raley: Nears swinging workouts
Raley (neck) is hoping to resume swinging a bat over the weekend, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports. Raley is recovering from a cervical strain and can probably be ruled out for a return in the regular season, but there's a chance he might be ready for the Rays' first postseason series. The 29-year-old had delivered an .824 OPS with 19 homers and 14 steals in 118 games prior to being diagnosed with the injury last week.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Placed on IL
The Rays placed Raley on the 10-day injured list Friday with a cervical strain, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports. Raley hasn't started a game since colliding with a staff member during batting practice last Saturday, and he reported numbness in his arm following a pinch-hit appearance Wednesday. Raley's move to the injured list is retroactive to Thursday, so he will still be eligible to return for the final game of the season Oct. 1, but the Rays could also keep him on the shelf until the postseason. Top prospect Junior Caminero was selected from Double-A Montgomery to fill Raley's spot on the active roster.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Will miss time with neck issue
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that Raley will miss some time due to a neck issue, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports. It's not clear yet whether Raley will be placed on the injured list, but at the very least it sounds like he will be unavailable for at least several days. He had been set to receive an MRI after his left arm felt numb during a pinch-hit appearance Wednesday. That the Rays are now calling it a neck issue suggests it could be some sort of nerve problem. It's an injury which stems from a collision Raley was involved in during batting practice last Saturday, and he hasn't made a start since the incident.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Absent from lineup
Raley (arm) is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports. Raley had been set to undergo an MRI on his left arm after it went numb during a pinch-hitting appearance Wednesday. The results of that exam haven't been revealed, but Raley at the very least will miss his fifth straight start. He was sidelined previously with an undisclosed injury after colliding with a staff member pregame Saturday, although it's not clear whether the two issues are related.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Getting MRI on Thursday
Raley will get an MRI on his left arm Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Raley said his left arm went numb after a pinch-hit appearance in the seventh inning of Wednesday's game. He hadn't appeared in a game since Saturday when he collided with a team staff member during pregame batting practice, and the Rays believe Raley's recent arm problems are likely a result of the collision. More will be known regarding Raley's status when his MRI results come back Thursday, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day until then.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Not in Wednesday's lineup
Raley (undisclosed) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels. Raley hasn't seen the field since Friday after he collided with a team staff member while catching flyballs ahead of Saturday's contest. The 29-year-old may not have been in the lineup Wednesday regardless of the injury since lefty Reid Detmers is pitching for the Halos.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Remains sidelined Sunday
Raley (undisclosed) remains absent from the lineup Sunday versus the Orioles. Raley was scratched Saturday following a collision with a staff member during pregame batting practice. There's no word yet as to the exact nature of the injury. Jonathan Aranda will fill the DH role for the Rays on Sunday as Randy Arozarena, Manuel Margot and Josh Lowe start across the outfield.... Rays' Luke Raley: Delivers decisive deep fly
Raley went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and an additional run scored in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Orioles. The 28-year-old reached on an infield single and scored Tampa Bay's first run in the third before blasting a seventh-inning solo shot, which ultimately proved to be the difference-maker Thursday. The long ball snapped Raley's 15-game homerless drought, during which he hit just .196 and struck out in 32.7 percent of his at-bats. Raley now owns a .251/.336/.494 slash line with 19 home runs, 49 RBI, 56 runs and 14 steals across 116 games on the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Idle against southpaw
Raley is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Twins. Raley will begin this one on the bench for the Rays as the Twins send left-hander Dallas Keuchel to the hill. Josh Lowe will handle center field in a rare start for him versus a southpaw.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Sitting against lefty
Raley is absent from the lineup Wednesday against the Marlins. Miami is throwing left-hander Jesus Luzardo, and Raley has batted just .222/.243/.389 in 37 plate appearances versus lefties this year. Randy Arozarena, Jose Siri and Vidal Brujan are starting across the outfield while Harold Ramirez takes a turn as the Rays' designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Swipes 13th bag
Raley went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored Saturday against the Yankees. Raley has popped three home runs in his last 10 games and has an outstanding .262 ISO on the season. However, he produced in a different way Saturday by swiping his 13th base of the campaign on 15 attempts. It's been a breakout year for Raley, who should maintain a large-side platoon role at DH for the final five weeks of the regular season.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Goes to bench Wednesday
Raley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The lefty-hitting Raley will retreat to the bench while the Rockies bring southpaw Austin Gomber to the hill Wednesday. The Rays will roll out a starting outfield of Randy Arozarena, Jose Siri and Josh Lowe from left to right while Harold Ramirez serves as the team's designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Sitting versus southpaw
Raley is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader with the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Raley will head to the bench as southpaw Patrick Sandoval draws the start for Los Angeles in Game 2. Harold Ramirez will take over at designated hitter and bat third in Saturday's nightcap.... Rays' Luke Raley: Legs out inside-the-park homer
Raley went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-1 victory over the Giants. Raley's 17th home run of the year was certainly his most unusual -- he blasted a Ross Stripling offering 425 feet off the top of the right-field wall before it ricocheted away from the Giants outfielders, giving Raley plenty of time to cruise into home standing up. The homer was Raley's second in his last four games following a 1-for-18 slump over his previous six contests. Overall, his slash line is up to .257/.340/.517 with 49 runs scored, 43 RBI and 12 steals across 288 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Returns to lineup Sunday
Raley (knee) will start in right field and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Tigers. Raley is back in action after he was on the bench for the Rays' previous two games with a bruised right knee. The fact that the Rays are deploying him in the outfield rather than at designated hitter suggests the team is comfortable with his health heading into a six-game week.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Out again Saturday
Raley (bruised knee) is not in Saturday's lineup against the Tigers. Raley exited Wednesday's game with a right knee contusion and has not played since then. Harold Ramirez gets the start at designated hitter while batting fifth.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Luke Raley: Out with bruised knee
Raley (knee) is out of the lineup Friday against the Tigers. Raley fouled a ball off his right knee in Wednesday's series finale against the Yankees and is considered day-to-day. Harold Ramirez will serve as the Rays' designated hitter Friday in Detroit as Randy Arozarena, Jose Siri and Josh Lowe start across the outfield.... See More ... See Less
