The Marlins peppered Peralta for nine hits, equaling his season high last given up April 15 against San Diego. The results Sunday were highly unusual as the Brewers starting pitcher had produced a 2.42 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 99:16 K:BB over 70.2 innings in the second half before this outing. Perhaps the Marlins were able to take advantage of Peralta's average fastball velocity sitting at 93.5 mph, down a tick from its normal 94.5 mph. Peralta is on a torrid four-game stretch at the moment. Since July 26, he is 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 39:5 K:BB in 25 innings while throwing four quality starts. He also recorded 64 whiffs over that span which is the most in all of baseball. When Peralta is at his best, he can be downright elite and has the potential to be a league winner down the stretch, but he'll have his work cut out for him when he faces the Rangers on the road his next time out.

The right-hander was mostly able to keep the Nationals in check, though they struck for three runs on three hits and two walks during the second inning. There was also an out at the plate in the third to preserve the quality start, which is Peralta's third in four outings since the All-Star break. The 27-year-old has a 3.52 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB across 23 innings during that stretch after he finished the first half with a 4.70 ERA in 17 starts.

Peralta stumbled against a strong lineup and was taken deep twice, accounting for four of the six runs. Peralta's next outing is projected to come at home against the Reds next week.
