This was just the second multi-hit game of September for Abreu, who is tailing off in the final month of his first full season in the majors. Abreu, who rarely starts against left-handers, was a late addition to the lineup when Rob Refsnyder (wrist) was scratched. After Danny Jansen tied the game to lead off the fifth inning, Abreu singled and stole second base, putting himself in scoring position, but got stranded at third after a wild pitch. Abreu is slashing .185/.241/.278 against left-handers this season.
