Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Throwing and running
Canzone (shoulder) began a throwing and running program Friday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
General manager Justin Hollander added that the team hopes Canzone can begin a hitting progression sometime next week, though he is still several weeks out from full baseball activities. The 26-year-old outfielder sprained the AC joint in his left shoulder April 14, and Hollander's comments suggest he is not close to returning anytime soon. Luke Raley and Jonatan Clase should continue splitting time in left field while Canzone works his way back.

Mariners' Dominic Canzone: No timeline on return
Mariners manager Scott Servais said Monday that there is no set timeline for Canzone (shoulder), Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
Canzone was placed on the 10-day IL on Monday. He sustained a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder Sunday after colliding with the outfield wall. Servais added that Canzone will be down at least a couple of weeks. While Canzone is out, Jonatan Clase will see more starts in left field, beginning Monday against the Reds.

Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Doesn't have structural damage
Canzone does not have structural damage to his left shoulder and will not require surgery, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
He's dealing with a sprained AC joint, but an MRI cleared him of any additional damage. Canzone will be sidelined at least a couple weeks, but it sounds like the diagnosis was close to a best-case scenario. Jonatan Clase is expected to see the bulk of the at-bats in left field in Canzone's place.

Canzone went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in a Cactus League win over the Angels on Thursday.
He pushed his spring batting average to .231, while the stolen base was his first of the spring. The 26-year-old arrived via trade with the Diamondbacks last season and put in time in the corner outfield spots and designated hitter, but he limped to a .215 average and .248 OBP. However, Canzone was a stellar hitter in the minor leagues and struck out just 17.0 percent of the time with Seattle last season, lending credence to the notion he could be primed for much better production in 2024 now that he has some experience against big-league arms under his belt.
