Bazardo (shoulder) is set for a live batting practice session Saturday, SeattleSports.com reports. Mariners general manager Justin Hollander provided the update on the 28-year-old right-hander, who's been sidelined with a right rotator cuff strain since early in spring training. Hollander noted the team is being cautious with the pace of Bazardo's recovery, but he added the reliever was doing well overall and would be re-evaluated after Saturday's session to determine next steps.... Bazardo (shoulder) has begun throwing bullpen sessions, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports. He will need to throw handful of bullpen sessions and face hitters before being cleared for a rehab assignment.... See More ... See Less -

Mariners' Eduard Bazardo: Dealt to Seattle
Bazardo was traded from the Orioles to the Mariners on Tuesday for Logan Rinehart, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. This move is far from a blockbuster, as Bazardo was designated for assignment Sunday and Rinehart is a 25-year-old reliever at High-A. Bazardo has a 3.74 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 15 strikeouts in 21.2 MLB innings across the past three seasons. He logged a 3.05 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 43 strikeouts this year in 38.1 innings at Triple-A.... The Orioles designated Bazardo for assignment Sunday. Bazardo will cede his spot on the 40-man roster to right-handed reliever Joey Krehbiel, who was called up from Triple-A Norfolk ahead of Sunday's game against the Yankees. Though Bazardo has posted solid ratios at Norfolk this season (3.05 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 43:11 K:BB in 38.1 innings), he struggled mightily over his three appearances in the majors prior to being optioned to the minors July 17.... Bazardo spent the final month of the 2022 campaign on Boston's major-league roster and posted a 2.76 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in 16.1 innings over 12 appearances. However, he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster after Jake Reed was claimed off waivers from the Orioles on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -

The Red Sox optioned Bazardo to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. Bazardo didn't appear in a game after being recalled last Sunday. He's appeared in two contests this season for the Red Sox, allowing one hit and two walks while fanning three in three scoreless innings.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Eduard Bazardo: Pushes rehab to Triple-A
Bazardo (lat) transferred his rehab assignment to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday and gave up two runs on two hits and a walk over an inning of relief. Bazardo moved his rehab program to the highest rung of the minors after his strained right lat checked out fine following two appearances in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. The 25-year-old faltered in Sunday's appearance, and the Red Sox may want to see the reliever find success over multiple outings at Worcester before he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list.... Bazardo (lat) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Aug. 13 and has struck out seven in three scoreless innings across two appearances. Despite being shut down since mid-May with a right lat strain, Bazardo has looked strong in his first two outings back from the three-plus-month layoff. Bazardo currently resides on the Red Sox's 60-day injured list, but he'll most likely be optioned to Triple-A Worcester when he's activated at the conclusion of his rehab assignment.... See More ... Red Sox's Eduard Bazardo: Resumes throwing
Bazardo (lat) has resumed throwing, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports. Bazardo was shut down for several weeks after he sustained a right lat strain in mid-May, but it's encouraging to see him throwing again. The right-hander will likely need to build back up following his shutdown, so he could be held out of game action until sometime in July.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Eduard Bazardo: Facing three-week absence
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Sunday that Bazardo (lat) will be shut down for the next three weeks before resuming a throwing progression, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports. Bazardo is on the mend from a strained right lat, an injury he sustained during his appearance Tuesday at Triple-A Worcester. Since he'll still need time to build up once he's cleared to resume his throwing program, Bazardo is unlikely to return to action for Worcester until July at the earliest.... See More ... See Less
