Twins' Hunter Wood: Placed on injured list
Wood was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday due to a right forearm strain, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
Wood joined the Twins on a minor-league deal in May and posted a 2.08 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 8.2 innings over eight relief appearances with the Triple-A club. The severity of his forearm strain isn't yet clear, but he'll be unavailable for at least a week.

Wood spent the final three months of the 2021 campaign on the injured list after he underwent elbow surgery in late June. He recorded a 3.60 ERA and 0.80 WHIP in five innings across five relief appearances in 2021, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be ready for spring training in 2022.

Rangers' Hunter Wood: Shifts to 60-day injured list
Wood (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.
Wood hit the 10-day injured list in late May with an elbow issue which has since been diagnosed as a mild UCL sprain. The injury is evidently serious enough to keep him out for at least two months, so he won't return until late July at the earliest. The transaction clears a spot on the Rangers' 40-man roster for the team to claim Tyson Miller off waivees.

Wood allowed two runs on two hits and struck out one over 1.1 innings in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Astros.
Wood made his Rangers debut and pitched in an MLB game for the first time since 2019. He entered with the bases loaded and two outs in the sixth inning and got Yuli Gurriel to fly out. The right-hander then allowed a two-run home run to Kyle Tucker in the seventh. He can be a righty option in a lefty-centric bullpen, and manager Chris Woodward told Sam Blum of the Dallas Morning News that Wood could open Wednesday's game against the Yankees. The Rangers have not yet announced a starter for that game, which normally would be Kohei Arihara's (finger) turn.

The Rangers selected Wood's contract Saturday from Triple-A Round Rock.
The righty last appeared in the big leagues in 2019, when he pitched 45.1 innings between the Rays and Indians. Wood has allowed one earned run in 2.2 minor-league innings this season, and he takes the roster spot of left-handed pitcher Wes Benjamin, whom the Rangers optioned to Round Rock.
