  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Hot streak continues in win

Robles went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two stolen bases and a run in a win over the Rangers on Saturday.

After having gone 4-for-7 with three stolen bases in the first two games of the series Thursday and Friday, Robles showed no signs of letting up with Saturday's performance, when he displayed a bit more pop than usual for good measure. The 27-year-old early-June arrival has been quite the find for an otherwise frustratingly inconsistent Mariners lineup, posting a .325/.394/.469 slash line and perfect 25-for-25 tally on steal attempts in his 67 games with Seattle thus far. September is proving to be his best month yet, as Robles is now hitting .432 (16-for-37) across 12 games since the calendar flipped.

His offense has been boom or bust in that span -- this was the first game in September where Robles had exactly one hit, to go with five multi-hit efforts that have fueled his recent success. The outfielder is up to a .299/.380/.421 slash line with 27 steals, four home runs, 21 RBI and 33 runs scored over 79 contests between the Mariners and the Nationals this season, and the vast majority of that production has come with Seattle.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Continues producing Monday

Robles went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run in a loss to the Athletics on Monday.

Robles generated the only multi-hit effort of the contest for Seattle, accomplishing the feat for the fourth time in the last six games overall. The late-August/early-September surge has boosted Robles' season average 19 points to .299, and with current primary leadoff hitter J.P. Crawford now sitting on a .195/.301/.331 slash line for the season, Robles could conceivably retake the top spot in the order if both hitters' trajectories remain the same.
