  Cubs selected 2B Hayden Cantrelle from the Giants’ Double-A roster in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft. Cubs lost Double-A Tennessee IF Andy Weber to Diamondbacks, Double-A SS Levi Jordan to Reds, High-A LHP Adam Laskey to Marlins and High-A RHP Sheldon Reed to Twins.

  Jed Hoyer wouldn't get into specifics about Shohei Ohtani's free agency. When asked whether the Cubs have received an update from Ohtani's camp, he said, "None, zero." Does he think Cubs are still in it? "I'm not going to comment on it but we haven't been given a status check."
