  • Rockies' Jurickson Profar: Still awaiting visa

Rockies manager Bud Black told reporters that Profar is still awaiting for a visa, and he's hopeful he can join camp early next week, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Black mentioned that Profar has a meeting with the consulate in Curacao, which could help speed the process along. Signed in the middle of March to a one-year deal, once Profar joins the Rockies he's expected to be an everyday option for the club. There is a chance that he'll need to spend an extra few days in camp before joining the major-league roster, however.

  • Rockies' Jurickson Profar: Lands with COL

Profar agreed Sunday to a one-year, $7.75 million contract with the Rockies, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Heyman reports that Profar can earn another million in incentives if he reaches 400 plate appearances. Considered to be the top bat remaining on the market, the 30-year-old hit .243/.331/.391 with San Diego in 2022 over 152 games while adding 15 homers and five stolen bases. He's played all over the field and could be an option for Colorado in the outfield as well as at second base. Profar is a flawed option who is unlikely to hit for average, but the friendly confines of Coors Field does give him some potential fantasy relevance in 2023.

  • Jurickson Profar: Rockies interested

Colorado is showing interest in signing Profar, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Profar remains a free agent and is playing for the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic, going 2-for-7 with a home run through two games. The versatile 30-year-old batted .243/.331/.391 with 15 home runs and five stolen bases over 152 regular-season games for the Padres in 2022. Colorado could be interested in shoring up its outfield depth after injuries to Sean Bouchard and Randal Grichuk, and a landing spot with the Rockies would boost Profar's fantasy appeal significantly.
