Howard is expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing further testing on his injured knee Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Howard was carted off the field during Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. Howard had to be carted to the locker room after hurting his knee late in the first quarter Sunday against Jacksonville, and he wasn't able to return to the game. While a significant injury remains a possibility, there is at least some optimism that the issue is less serious than initially feared. More should be known about Howard's status moving forward following the results of Monday's imaging scans.... See More ... See Less -

Howard is recovering from hand surgery and working to be ready for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Texans' Tytus Howard: Status for Week 1 TBD
Texans general manager Nick Caserio said Howard's (hand) status for Week 1 against the Ravens remains to be determined, Drew Dougherty of the Texans' official site reports. Howard returned to the practice field last week with a cast on his left hand, which was surgically repaired in early August, but it's unclear how much he's been participating. The Texans will have to release an official injury report starting Monday, so that should provide further clarity on Howard's availability. If Howard is unable to go, George Fant, who filled in during preseason, and Josh Jones, who was acquired via trade from the Cardinals last week, would be options to start at right tackle versus Baltimore.... This marks Howard's return to practice, though it's unclear how much he participated. Wilson characterized it as a return to practice "in some capacity." Nevertheless, it's an encouraging sign that Howard, the team's starting right tackle, may be ready for Week 1. George Fant has filled in during preseason games, and the Texans acquired tackle Josh Jones from the Cardinals on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -

Once healthy, the 27-year-old is expected to operate as the Texans' starting right tackle again in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Tytus Howard: Week 1 return possible?
Howard (hand) has the potential to return as soon as the Texans' Week 1 game at Baltimore, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Howard had surgery this past Monday to repair a broken hand and is expected to be out anywhere from 4-to-6 weeks. Houston begins its season with Baltimore on Sunday, Sept. 10, which is a little less than five weeks after his surgery. Depending on how quickly the 27-year-old is able to recover, he could be in the team's lineup for the opener.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Tytus Howard: Undergoes surgery
Howard is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks after undergoing surgery Monday to repair a broken hand, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Howard still has a chance to be ready for the Texans' Sept. 10 regular-season opener in Baltimore, but his availability is hardly guaranteed. If Howard is unable to take the field Week 1, swing tackle George Fant would likely step in as the Texans' starter opposite Laremy Tunsil.... See More ... See Less -
