Patriots' Akeem Spence: Inks deal with active roster

The Patriots signed Spence to the active roster Saturday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Spence was elevated from the practice squad last week, and now he's an honest member of the 53-man roster. The Patriots needed the depth at nose tackle, as both Byron Cowart (back) and Adam Butler (shoulder) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
