<img style= running back Montee Ball is denying a report that he was involved in a fight with teammates before he was attacked on Wednesday morning.

According to TMZ, Ball and several Wisconsin teammates may have been involved in a fight at a home several days before Wednesday's attack.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... cops have received tips about a brawl at a UW football player's home roughly one week before Ball was jumped on campus.

According to our sources, cops have been told Ball was at the home ... and along with some of his teammates, may have participated in beating up a non-football player.

Ball took to Twitter on Thurday afternoon to deny the report.

Ball was attacked on campus by several assailants Wednesday morning and had to be treated at a local hospital. As a result of the attack Ball sustained a concussion.

While reasons for the attack on Ball still aren't clear, witnesses say that Ball may have exchanged words with his assailants before the attack.
