If you are still planning to buy tickets for the College Football Playoff National Championshp game between Ohio State and Oregon, you might have saved yourself a ton of money by waiting until the last minute.

According to TicketCity, the average ticket price is around $600, which is a huge drop from what they were on Jan. 2 the day after the Rose and Sugar Bowl.

As we saw in December, tickets to the game were running on average $935. And according to the graphic below, the average ticket price reached $1,281.53 on Jan. 2. But as we inch closer to Monday night's game, the ticket prices continue to drop.

That would be one of the cheapest tickets in recent memory as Jon Solomon reported Alabama-Notre Dame in 2013 went off for $2,047.66, LSU-Alabama in 2012 cost $2,128.51 on average, and Auburn-Oregon in 2011 was priced at $5,086.55.
