GREENSBORO, N.C. - With 18 returning starters from last year's 9-4 squad, Florida State was picked by the media to win the ACC at the annual Football Kickoff at the Grandover Resort.

The Seminoles were the overwhelming favorites in the media poll, collecting nearly two-thirds of the ACC Championship votes. Virginia Tech, heavy favorites to win the Coastal Division, finished as runners up in the balloting.

Florida State was picked to win the conference last season, but after back-to-back conference losses at Clemson and Wake Forest fell from contention as the Dabo Swinney led the Tigers to their first ACC title in 20 years.

Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins was voted the preseason ACC Player of the Year, finishing ahead of Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas, Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel, and Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd.
