Here are some news and notes from around the Arizona Cardinals...
- The Cardinals were more affected by the debacle at the conclusion of the Seattle Seahawks' 14-12 win over Green Bay on Monday night than all but a few teams, as Darren Urban writes. With Arizona at 3-0 and Seattle at 2-1 -- and don't forget the San Francisco 49ers at 2-1 -- the NFC West could be in for a season-long log-jam, in which every game counts, including those won on a faux touchdown reception after a push-off.
“Well it was upsetting, because it does affect us,” Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb said. “In my eyes, it was clearly an interception. Just like anybody else around, it’s something that doesn’t sit well with us, because it directly affects us. That’s unfortunate at this level.”
The Cardinals, who defeated the Seahawks in Week 1 on a near-miss touchdown throw attempt by Russell Wilson, get their chance to strike revenge for the rest of the league in a rematch in Seattle in Week 14.
- Cardinals fans expecting a big year from Beanie Wells will be disappointed -- he won't play again until late-November. The fourth-year back was placed on injured reserved with turf toe, just the latest in a string of injuries that has plagued his career. After knee and ankle issues dashed his hopes in his first three years, the latest injury is just another setback. “It’s huge,” Kolb told Kent Somers of AZCentral.com. “He’s a big part of our team. He’s a nice counter to the rest of our backs, the way he runs. I know other guys will step up but it’s a huge loss.”
- Wells' injury puts the focus on Ryan Williams, Craig Morgan of Fox Sports Arizona writes. His performance will be critical, as the Cardinals backfield also missed LaRod Stephens-Howling and Anthony Sherman on Wednesday.
