  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Brilliant in relief

Lankinen made 21 saves on 22 shots in relief in a 2-1 win over Toronto on Saturday. Thatcher Demko (undisclosed) left the game midway through the first period, and Lankinen stepped into the blue paint and excelled. Lankinen was especially great late, making a sprawling glove save on Auston Matthews on a power play with under two minutes to play to preserve the lead and win. Lankinen's success this season has given him a role for Team Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off, which starts Wednesday. He's 19-8-7 with a 2.53 GAA and .905 save percentage heading into the tourney. There is no information on Demko's injury or potential absence.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Yields three goals in overtime loss

Lankinen stopped 15 of 18 shots in Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Red Wings. It was not a sharp performance for Lankinen, who allowed two goals to Alex DeBrincat, including the game-winner, and one to Ben Chiarot. In January, Lankinen went 4-2-2, allowing two or fewer goals in six of those contests, though he also faced fewer than 30 shots on six occasions, leading to an .898 save percentage. He's generally been decent this season with an 18-8-7 record, a 2.57 GAA and a .904 save percentage through 33 appearances. Lankinen's play has pushed Thatcher Demko, who has struggled to get up to speed since returning from a knee injury. The Canucks will want Demko to seize the No. 1 job, but until he does, Lankinen figures to continue poaching starts.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Defending crease Sunday

Lankinen will protect the home net against Detroit on Sunday, per Ben Kuzma of Postmedia. Lankinen has won his last two starts, stopping 56 of 59 shots. He has posted a record of 18-8-6 with four shutouts, a 2.56 GAA and a .906 save percentage through 32 appearances this season. Detroit sits 22nd in the league with 2.83 goals per game in 2024-25 and posted a 3-1 win over Calgary on Saturday.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Picks up second straight win

Lankinen stopped 24 shots in Monday's 5-2 win over the Blues. Vancouver built a 3-0 lead midway through the second period, and Lankinen made sure St. Louis never got within striking distance of tying it up. The 29-year-old goalie has won back-to-back starts to give him 18 victories on the season, setting a new career high. Through eight outings in January, Lankinen is 4-2-2 with a 2.48 GAA and an .898 save percentage, and he figures to continue to get plenty of work as long as Thatcher Demko (3.52 GAA, .852 save percentage on the month) is struggling.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Starting in St. Louis

Lankinen will tend the road twine Monday against the Blues, per Jeff Paterson of CanucksArmy.com. Lankinen turned aside 32 of 33 shots on goal in Saturday's 2-1 win over Washington. The 29-year-old has won two of his last three starts while allowing seven goals in that span, but he surrendered six of those markers in a loss to Winnipeg on Jan. 14. The Finnish netminder is 2-0-0 with a .922 save percentage and a 2.47 GAA in two career outings against St. Louis.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Quiets Capitals

Lankinen stopped 32 of 33 shots in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Capitals. Lankinen made a couple of Quinn Hughes goals stand for the win in the former's return to the crease. Lankinen missed one game due to an illness and backed up Thursday versus the Oilers before making Saturday's start. Aside from a couple of ugly performances, Lankinen has been the better of the Canucks' goalies recently, as Thatcher Demko has struggled to get going following a lengthy absence to begin 2024-25. After Saturday's win, Lankinen is 17-8-6 with a 2.58 GAA and a .905 save percentage over 31 outings. The Canucks embark on a three-game road trip for most of the next week, beginning Monday in St. Louis.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Set for backup duties

Lankinen (illness) is set to back up Thatcher Demko in Thursday's road game versus the Oilers, per the NHL media site. Lankinen will suit up after sitting out Tuesday's contest against the Sabres. Arturs Silovs backed up in that game but was sent back down Wednesday and wasn't recalled, so Lankinen can be presumed healthy enough to back up. It's unclear when Lankinen might make his next start.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Unlikely to play Tuesday

Lankinen is dealing with an illness and unlikely to suit up Tuesday versus the Sabres, Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK reports. Arturs Silovs was called up under emergency conditions Tuesday, and Lankinen's illness is the reason why. Assuming Lankinen doesn't suit up, his next chance to play is Thursday in Edmonton. Thatcher Demko was already confirmed to start Tuesday by head coach Rick Tocchet earlier in the day.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Stands no chance against Jets

Lankinen gave up six goals on 33 shots in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Jets. Lankinen followed up a shutout win over the Maple Leafs with a stinker of a result Tuesday. Kyle Connor put up a natural hat trick in the first period, and the Jets hardly let up in the contest as they ran away with the win. Lankinen has lost five of his last seven outings, though he's allowed more than two goals just twice in that span. He's 16-8-6 with a 2.63 GAA and a .903 save percentage over 30 games played, and he's likely to surpass his career highs of 37 appearances and 17 wins. It's likely Thatcher Demko will get a chance to start Thursday versus the Kings.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Guarding goal in Winnipeg

Lankinen will be between the road pipes in Tuesday's road matchup versus the Jets, according to Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press. Lankinen earned his fourth shutout of the campaign Saturday in a 3-0 victory over Toronto. The 29-year-old has recorded one shutout in each of the first four months of the season. He's surrendered 10 goals on 94 shots through five appearances in January, going 2-1-2 during that stretch. Winnipeg ranks third in the NHL with 3.55 goals per game.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Fourth shutout of season

Lankinen made 20 saves Saturday in a 3-0 win over Toronto. It was his fourth shutout this season and seventh in the NHL. Lankinen has continued to see a solid workload while Thatcher Demko recovers from back spasms. Monitor daily activations closely to take advantage of Lankinen's play.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Gets little help in OT loss

Lankinen made 16 saves in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Capitals. The 29-year-old netminder shut down most of the Washington lineup, but Pierre-Luc Dubois got pucks past him late in the first period and in the final minute of OT, and the Vancouver offense wasn't able to get much going. Lankinen has appeared in five straight games, starting four of them, while Thatcher Demko has dealt with back spasms, but the former has gone just 1-2-2 with a 2.59 GAA and .882 save percentage. Demko dressed as the backup Wednesday, and he could resume No. 1 duties as soon as Saturday's game in Carolina.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Draws start against Washington

Lankinen will start Wednesday's road game against the Capitals, Dan Murphy of Sportsnet reports. Although Thatcher Demko (back) is close to returning to game action, Lankinen will draw the start for the fourth time in the Canucks' last five games. Lankinen hasn't been particularly dominant recently, going 1-3-2 with a 3.05 GAA and .865 save percentage over his last six outings. He could have difficulty bouncing back Wednesday, as the Capitals lead the league with 3.70 goals per game.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Rough night in Montreal

Lankinen turned aside 19 shots in Monday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canadiens. Two of the goals against Lankinen came on Montreal power plays, including Nick Suzuki's OT winner, while a third tally deflected in off Quinn Hughes' skate. However, the 29-year-old netminder has been fighting the puck for a while -- Lankinen's gone 1-3-2 over his last six outings with a 3.05 GAA and an .865 save percentage. Thatcher Demko (back) is traveling with the Canucks on their current East Coast road trip, but it's not clear when he might be ready to return. If he's not able to play Wednesday in Washington, Arturs Silovs might be between the pipes instead of Lankinen.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Tending twine in Montreal

Lankinen will be between the road pipes versus the Canadiens on Monday, per Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650. Lankinen will make his 27th appearance of the season Monday -- the 29-year-old is sporting a 15-7-4 record, .908 save percentage and 2.54 GAA. Montreal is tied for 19th in the NHL with 2.95 goals per game. While their record is nothing to write home about, the Canadiens have played very well lately, going 4-1-0 in their last five games.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Unlucky loss Friday

Lankinen allowed one goal on 17 shots in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Predators. The last two goals were empty-netters. Lankinen played fairly well, but Steven Stamkos' second-period tally was the difference in this low-event game. This was Lankinen's fourth loss in his last five outings, and his only win in that span was in a relief appearance versus the Kraken on Thursday. He's now 15-7-4 with a 2.54 GAA and a .908 save percentage over 26 appearances this season. Lankinen is likely to occupy the starting role for the Canucks until Thatcher Demko (back) is able to return.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Set to start Friday

Lankinen is expected to start at home against Nashville on Friday, Jeff Paterson of CanucksArmy.com reports. Lankinen has a 15-6-4 record, 2.60 GAA and .907 save percentage in 25 appearances in 2024-25. He'll be playing for the second straight day after entering Thursday's 4-3 shootout win over the Kraken because Thatcher Demko suffered a back injury. Lankinen stopped 13 of 15 shots in 37:11 of ice time and was perfect in three shootout rounds. Nashville ranks last in goals per game with 2.39.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Picks up shootout win

Lankinen stopped 13 of 15 shots he faced in relief of Thatcher Demko (back) in Thursday's 4-3 shootout win over the Kraken. Lankinen squandered a two-goal lead in the third period, but he stepped up in overtime and turned aside all three Seattle attempts in the shootout. The 29-year-old entered the game just before the midway mark in the second period after Demko's back started to give him trouble. It's probable Lankinen will start Friday versus his former team, the Predators. If the Canucks have to call up a goalie from AHL Abbotsford, likely Arturs Silovs, it would require a trip from Laval, Quebec, where the minor-league team is scheduled for road games Friday and Saturday. Lankinen is now 15-6-4 with a 2.60 GAA and a .907 save percentage through 25 appearances this season, his most games played in three years.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Tending twine in Calgary

Lankinen will start in Tuesday's divisional matchup against the Flames, per Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan. Lankinen had his worst performance of the month in his last start, allowing five goals in an overtime loss to Ottawa. The 29-year-old hasn't been great in December, but he's been serviceable for the most part, posting a 3-2-2 record, 2.68 GAA and .902 save percentage through seven appearances. In three career starts versus Calgary, Lankinen has a 2-1-0 record, 1.81 GAA and .943 save percentage. The Flames rank 27th in the NHL with 2.64 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Gives up two goals in loss

Lankinen allowed two goals on 20 shots in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights. The third goal was an empty-netter. Lankinen returned from an illness and put in a good effort to keep the game even through two periods. William Karlsson had the game-winning goal early in the third period, sending Lankinen to his third loss in his last five outings. The 29-year-old netminder dropped to 14-5-3 with a 2.50 GAA and a .912 save percentage over 22 games. Thatcher Demko will likely start Saturday versus the Senators, and it's possible the Canucks opt for some sort of timeshare in the crease now that both goalies are healthy.
