The 22-year-old winger opened the scoring on a feed from Blake Coleman in the first period. Coronato is up to 11 goals, 24 points, 95 shots on net and a plus-11 rating through 40 contests overall. That's a pace of 0.6 points per game, which is enough to merit consideration in most fantasy formats. Coronato's strong play has also cemented his status as a top-six forward this season.... Flames' Matthew Coronato: Goal, assist in win
Coronato scored a goal on a team-high five shots and added a power-play assist in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Kings. Coronato's tally tied the game midway through the second period, and he set up Jonathan Huberdeau's game-winner in the third. No other Calgary skater had more than two shots on net. Coronato ended his six-game goal drought, during which he had two assists. He's up to 10 goals, 22 points (nine on the power play), 85 shots on net and a plus-10 rating through 36 appearances in a top-six role this season.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Sets up game-winner
Coronato notched a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Ducks. Coronato's pressure down low allowed him to poke the puck free, and Jonathan Huberdeau made no mistake on the shot to win the game at 2:05 of overtime. While he's been limited to two assists over his last six outings, Coronato remains in a top-six role for the Flames, which includes power-play time. He has 20 points (eight on the power play), 80 shots on net and a plus-9 rating through a career-high 35 contests so far. He's a full-time NHLer now, and he's doing enough on offense to be helpful in fantasy formats with 10 or more teams.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Slides helper in loss
Coronato notched an assist, six shots on goal, two hits and two PIM in Thursday's 5-3 loss to Utah. Coronato has gotten a bit streaky -- he had a four-game point streak from Dec. 14-21, but he came out of the holiday break empty in three contests. The 22-year-old snapped the short drought by setting up Brayden Pachal's second-period tally. Coronato is up to 19 points, 77 shots on net, 17 hits and a plus-9 rating through 33 appearances this season, giving him appeal as a depth scorer in fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Two-point effort in win
Coronato scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Saturday's 6-4 win over Chicago. The 22-year-old winger gave Calgary a 4-1 lead midway through the second period before feeding Mikael Backlund for an empty-netter in the final minute of the third to cut off a Chicago comeback. Coronato has a four-game point streak going in which he's delivered two goals and six points, and after an inconsistent start to the season he's collected four goals and 11 points over his last 15 appearances.... Coronato was reassigned to AHL Calgary on Friday. Coronato has two goals, no assists, two PIM and 10 hits in five appearances with the Flames in 2024-25. He's averaged 12:15 of ice time in the NHL this season, but he'll play a much bigger role in the minors.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Out again Saturday
Coronato (lower body) won't play versus the Canucks on Saturday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Coronato sustained an injury Wednesday against the Canucks, and he's not yet ready to return. He's impressed when healthy this preseason, giving him a decent chance of making a young Flames roster, though he could require time in the AHL if he's out much longer.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Won't skate Thursday
Coronato (undisclosed) won't take part in Thursday's skate for maintenance reasons. Coronato suffered the injury during Wednesday's preseason contest against Vancouver and exited the game in the third period as a result. The 21-year-old is fighting for a bottom-six role with the Flames, and an extended absence could hurt his chances of making the Opening Night roster. However, his absence from Thursday's skate being cited as maintenance might indicate that the injury isn't significant.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Sent back to AHL
Coronato was reassigned to AHL Calgary on Thursday. Coronato had an assist in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Sharks. He'll finish the NHL season with nine points in 34 appearances. Coronato will join the Wranglers for their playoff push.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Finds twine in win
Coronato scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Coyotes. Coronato was able to turn a Coyotes turnover into a game-tying goal in the first period. The 21-year-old winger hadn't scored since March 14, and he posted just two assists over 11 outings in that span. He's gone through some growing pains at the NHL level this season with eight points, 54 shots on net and a minus-17 rating across 32 appearances. Coronato will likely remain in a bottom-six role to close out the 2023-24 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Generates helper Tuesday
Coronato notched an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Sharks. Coronato set up Rasmus Andersson's second-period tally. This was Coronato's first point in seven games since he rejoined the lineup after a two-game stint as a healthy scratch. The 21-year-old winger has seven points, 50 shots on net and a minus-15 rating over 29 NHL appearances this season. He's not much of an option for fantasy managers in redraft formats, but the 2021 first-round pick should still be viewed positively in dynasty formats.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Buries goal Thursday
Coronato scored a goal on four shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Golden Knights. Coronato has two points and a minus-2 rating over five games since he was recalled from AHL Calgary. The 21-year-old winger provided an insurance tally in the third period Thursday. He's been in a third-line role since rejoining the big club, which gives the Flames a chance to shelter him a bit. He's up to two goals, five points, 42 shots on net and a minus-10 rating through 20 appearances on the year.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Heads to minors
Coronato was assigned to AHL Calgary in a paper transaction Friday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. Coronato is only being assigned to the minors on paper in order to make him eligible for the AHL playoffs, so look for him to be promoted prior to Saturday's game against Florida. The 21-year-old winger has picked up two assists through his last five NHL appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Snags helper
Coronato notched an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Lightning. Coronato got into the lineup Thursday due to Martin Pospisil (suspension) being out. The 21-year-old Coronato played on the third line, logging 11:57 of ice time and chipping in with a helper on Yegor Sharangovich's second tally of the game. Coronato has four points over 16 NHL appearances, and he could get a longer look toward the end of the season. He's added 36 shots on net and a minus-5 rating, so he may be best deployed with favorable zone starts.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Elevated from minors
Coronato was recalled from AHL Calgary on Monday. Coronato could be pressed into service versus the Kraken on Monday after Connor Zary sustained an upper-body injury, though Walker Duehr could also be an option. For his part, the 21-year-old Coronato has played in just 15 NHL games this season in which he generated one goal, two assists and 34 shots. He's been significantly more productive in the minors, racking up 15 goals and 27 helpers in 40 games with the Wranglers.... See More ... See Less -
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Shifts to AHL
Coronato was reassigned to AHL Calgary following Saturday's 1-0 win over the Blackhawks. Coronato had one assist over four games during his latest stint in the NHL. This is likely a move to keep him in a playing rhythm during the Flames' bye week. Look for the 21-year-old to return to the NHL ahead of the team's next game Feb. 6 versus the Bruins.... Flames' Matthew Coronato: Provides helper Thursday
Coronato notched an assist and three shots on goal in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Blue Jackets. Coronato got on the scoresheet for the first time in three games since he was recalled from AHL Calgary. The 21-year-old winger set up a Connor Zary goal in the first period as the two rookie forwards flanked Nazem Kadri on the second line. Coronato has three points, 32 shots on net and a minus-8 rating through 14 appearances, but he could find some success if he sticks in a top-six role.... See More ... See Less -
