  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Picks up win Wednesday

Korpisalo stopped 22 of 25 shots in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Avalanche. Korpisalo's second start with the Bruins was a noticeable improvement on his debut. All three Avalanche goals came on the power play, so Korpisalo still needs to work on being the best penalty killer on the ice as the goalie often needs to be. The 30-year-old is 1-1-0 with nine goals allowed on 60 shots through two starts. It's safe to assume Jeremy Swayman will be between the pipes for Saturday's game in Utah.

  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Set to start Wednesday

Korpisalo will protect the road goal versus the Avalanche on Wednesday. Korpisalo had a poor start in his Bruins debut, allowing six goals on 35 shots against the Panthers. The 30-year-old then gave way to Jeremy Swayman for three games. Korpisalo will try to make a better second impression against an Avalanche team that has scored 10 goals in three games but has been leaky on the back end.

  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Disastrous Boston debut

Korpisalo made 29 saves in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Panthers. Making his debut for the Bruins, Korpisalo was beaten four times in the first period -- twice in 64 seconds early in the frame, and then twice in 60 seconds late. The veteran netminder settled down the rest of the way, but Boston couldn't put together a comeback against the defending Stanley Cup champs. The Bruins are counting on Korpisalo to replace Linus Ullmark in their goaltending tandem with Jeremy Swayman, but the workload may end up tipping Swayman's way if Korpisalo doesn't step up his game.

  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Gets starting nod versus Cats

Korpisalo will be between the road pipes against Florida on Tuesday, Steve Goldstein of Bally Sports Florida reports. Korpisalo gets the nod for the opening game of the year thanks to Jeremy Swayman's contract situation, which saw him miss the entire preseason. With Swayman now under contract, the 30-year-old Korpisalo figures to return to the No. 2 role after Tuesday's tilt and is unlikely to see more than 30 appearances in goal this year.

  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: First real wobble of preseason

Korpisalo made 22 saves in a 4-1 loss to the Kings on Thursday. This was Korpisalo's first queasy outing of the preseason, mostly at the hand of a red-hot Quinton Byfield who put up a hat trick. Two of Byfield's goals came 25 seconds apart in the second. Korpisalo is the de facto starter in Boston until Jeremy Swayman inks his new deal. Yes, many pundits have said he'll be better inside the Bruins' structure than he was in the porous Sens' approach last season. But Boston brass needs him to be near perfect with Swayman holding out for a new deal. Korpisalo was far from perfect Thursday.

  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: In goal Thursday

Korpisalo will protect the road goal in Thursday's preseason game versus the Kings in Quebec City. The Bruins are the designated road team for this neutral-site exhibition. The 30-year-old Korpisalo has allowed three goals on 47 shots over his two preseason starts so far. He is positioned to be the Bruins' No. 1 goalie to begin the year, as Jeremy Swayman (contract dispute) will likely need some time to get up to speed once he eventually signs a new deal.

  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Tending twine Tuesday

Korpisalo will patrol the home crease in Tuesday's exhibition matchup against Washington, per Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe. Korpisalo compiled a 21-26-4 record with a 3.27 GAA and an .890 save percentage across 55 regular-season outings for Ottawa in 2023-24. He could start the upcoming campaign as Boston's No. 1 netminder if Jeremy Swayman, a restricted free agent, remains unsigned.

  • Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Traded to Boston

Korpisalo was traded from Ottawa to Boston along with Mark Kastelic and a 2024 first-round pick in exchange for Linus Ullmark on Monday. Just one year after signing a five-year, $20 million deal with the Senators, Korpisalo will now suit up for his fourth team in three years. He posted a 3.27 GAA and an .890 save percentage in 55 games in 2023-24. He's expected to take on a much lighter role behind Jeremy Swayman in Boston, as the latter is currently a restricted free agent.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Gives up four goals

Korpisalo allowed four goals on 34 shots in Tuesday's 4-0 loss to the Rangers. While Korpisalo's poor play was often part of the problem for the Senators this season, three of his last four losses were largely because the team in front of him didn't score. This was likely the 29-year-old's last game of the campaign -- if that holds true, he finishes with a 21-26-4 record, a 3.27 GAA and an .890 save percentage in a career-high 55 games in the first season of a five-year contract. The Senators' season finale is Tuesday in Boston, a game Anton Forsberg is likely to start.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Facing Rangers

Korpisalo will defend the road net Monday versus the Rangers, per TSN 1200 Ottawa. Korpisalo is coming off a 21-save performance in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win over Montreal. He has gone 2-2-0 over his past four outings, posting a .906 save percentage during that span. Korpisalo has a 21-25-4 record this campaign with a 3.26 GAA and an .890 save percentage over 54 appearances. The Rangers have 3.38 goals per game this season, which is tied for seventh in the league.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Tough season soon over

Korpisalo made 21 saves in a 5-4 shootout win over Montreal on Saturday. The game wasn't exactly a goalie show. Korpisalo stopped all three shooters in the shootout to secure the victory. After six wins in seven games in the back half of March, Korpisalo's balloon burst with a 2-4-0 run in his last six starts. He's locked up through 2027-28 with a $4 million AAV. Korpisalo would be a very expensive buyout, so expect the Sens to give him every chance to perform next season. And he may be a real sleeper if he can step into that role.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Facing Canadiens

Korpisalo will defend the home crease versus Montreal on Saturday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports. Korpisalo was terrific in two wins over Montreal in January, stopping 45 of 48 shots. He had a tough loss Tuesday against the Panthers as he turned aside 28 shots in a 2-0 loss. Korpisalo is 20-25-4 with a 3.25 GAA and an .891 save percentage this season. The Canadiens are averaging 2.78 goals this season, 27th in the NHL.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Gets no help in loss

Korpisalo turned aside 28 shots in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Panthers. He got beaten twice in a three-minute span during the first period, with one of the tallies coming on a Florida power play, but Korpisalo shut the door the rest of the way. Unfortunately for him, Ottawa's offense never woke up. The 29-year-old goalie has appeared in five straight games but taken the loss in four of them, going 1-4-0 with a 2.96 GAA and .888 save percentage over that stretch. Korpisalo still seems unlikely to cede the starting job to Anton Forsberg over the Senators' final handful of games.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Tending twine Tuesday

Korpisalo will patrol the crease for Tuesday's road clash with Florida, per NHL.com. Korpisalo will be making his sixth consecutive appearance in goal, having gone 2-3-0 with a 2.94 GAA in his previous five outings. Despite the Senators having been officially eliminated from playoff contention, the club continues to lean on Korpisalo instead of giving Anton Forsberg some work. Still, the Sens end the year with a back-to-back against the Rangers and Bruins on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, so look for Korpisalo to get one of those two contests.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Gets overtime win

Korpisalo kicked out 20 of 22 shots in a 3-2 overtime win over the Capitals on Sunday. Even though he did not face many shots in the contest, Korpisalo turned away the final 12 sent his way to give the Senators the win in overtime. Korpisalo has been streaky as of late -- this was his first win after three straight losses, which were in turn preceded by three consecutive wins. The Senators are officially out of the playoff race but have been riding Korpisalo down the stretch, as this was his fifth consecutive start.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Tending twine Sunday

Korpisalo will get the starting nod in Washington on Sunday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports. After rattling off four straight wins, Korpisalo has dropped his last three, allowing eight goals on 55 shots during that span. Since the start of March, he's 6-5-1 with an .899 save percentage. His streaky season has resulted in a lackluster 3.30 GAA and .890 save percentage through 51 appearances.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Loses in relief

Korpisalo made 18 saves on 19 shots in relief Saturday in a 4-3 loss to New Jersey. The lone goal Korpisalo surrendered ended up being the game-winner, so he was saddled with the loss. He has lost three straight games, and the Senators have been eliminated from postseason contention. Still, Ottawa may have played their best period of hockey in the third against the Devils, so maybe the whole team can build on that over the final stretch.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Yanked early in second period

Korpisalo allowed four goals on 17 shots and was replaced by Anton Forsberg early in the second period of Thursday's 6-0 loss to Florida. Korpisalo was credited with the defeat. Korpisalo has betrayed fantasy managers who trusted him this week after putting up a 6-1-0 record in the previous two weeks. He has allowed seven goals on 36 shots in his last two starts. And that includes two Thursday on the first three shots of the game. Korpisalo has allowed four or more goals 19 times this season. It's the first time any Sens goalie has done that since Craig Anderson in 2018-19.

Korpisalo is slated to start at home against Florida on Thursday, according to TSN 1200 Ottawa. Korpisalo stopped just 16 of 19 shots in a 3-2 loss to Minnesota in his last start Tuesday. He's 19-22-4 with a 3.27 GAA and an .890 save percentage across 49 appearances this year. The Panthers, who have a 47-24-5 record, are typically a difficult adversary, but Florida is going through a rough patch, having won only two of its past 10 games.

  • Senators' Joonas Korpisalo: Falls in Minnesota

Korpisalo allowed three goals on 20 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Wild on Tuesday. The loss snapped a season-high, four-game winning streak for Korpisalo -- he'd been excellent in that span, posting a .926 save percentage. Overall, the 29-year-old netminder is now 19-22-4 on the season with an .890 save percentage and 3.27. Korpisalo could be back between the pipes Thursday when the Senators host Florida.
