Bunting provided a power-play assist, two hits and two PIM in Friday's 5-2 win over the Sabres. Bunting had been held off the scoresheet in his previous two appearances and also missed one game in that span due to an undisclosed injury. The 29-year-old winger has six goals and four assists over his last 11 outings, and seven of those points have come on the power play. He's up to 26 points (13 on the power play), 84 shots on net, 50 hits, 44 PIM and a minus-15 rating through 45 contests.... See More ... See Less

Penguins' Michael Bunting: Available to play
Bunting (undisclosed) will return to the lineup against Seattle on Tuesday, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports. Bunting sat out Sunday's 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay after being involved in a car accident outside PPG Paints Arena. He has registered 13 goals, 25 points, 84 shots on net, 48 hits and 42 PIM through 43 appearances this season. With Bunting back and Evgeni Malkin (upper body) considered a game-time decision, Jesse Puljujarvi and Matt Nieto could be healthy scratches versus the Kraken.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Not playing Sunday
Bunting (undisclosed) won't play against Tampa Bay on Sunday, according to Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site. Bunting was involved in a car accident Sunday outside PPG Paints Arena. Coach Mike Sullivan told the media that Bunting is doing okay, but the 29-year-old forward will miss at least one game. Bunting has 13 goals, 25 points, 84 shots on net, 48 hits and 42 PIM through 43 appearances this season. Philip Tomasino (lower body) will replace Bunting in Sunday's lineup.... See More ... Penguins' Michael Bunting: Tallies in overtime loss
Bunting scored a goal in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Hurricanes. Bunting has five goals and two assists over his last six games. Four of those seven points have come on the power play, but his goal Sunday was at even strength to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead at 5:08 of the first period. The winger is up to 12 goals, 23 points, 78 shots on net, 45 hits, 32 PIM and a minus-11 rating through 40 appearances. He'll continue to have decent fantasy value both for his offense and his agitation skills as long as he plays in a top-six role.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Reaches 10-goal mark
Bunting scored a power-play goal on two shots, added two hits and went minus-2 in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Islanders. Bunting has three goals over his last two games and a total of 12 points, including six on the power play, across his last 12 outings. His goal Saturday tied the contest at 1-1 in the third period. This resurgence has Bunting up to 19 points (eight on the power play), 75 shots on net, 43 hits, 30 PIM and a minus-11 rating in 36 appearances. He can bring both offense and agitation, leading to a few avenues of production for fantasy purposes.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Game finally heating up
Bunting scored twice Monday in a 7-3 win over the Flyers. Bunting's first pushed the Penguins up 3-1 in the first period when he tapped in a pass from Evgeni Malkin on the power play. His second pushed the Pens up 5-3 at the end of the second frame. Bunting's start to the season was coated with ice, but he's warmed up with 11 points (five goals, six assists) in his last 11 games, and five of those points have come on the man advantage. Bunting seems to be getting his feet under him, and that's great news for patient managers.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Heating up
Bunting put up two assists in a 3-2 overtime win over the Kings on Tuesday. It was his 300th NHL game. Bunting has just 16 points in 32 games in 2024-25, but nine (three goals, six assists) of those and 25 shots have come in his last eight games -- and four of the points in that span were recorded on the power play. Bunting can help right now, and who knows -- he could even keep this going for a bit. Remember, he put up 54 points last season between the Canes and Pens, and that included 19 points in 21 games once he arrived in Pennsylvania.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Tallies in Tuesday's loss
Bunting scored a goal on three shots and added two PIM in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Avalanche. Bunting has three goals and three assists over his last five contests. The 29-year-old winger brought the Penguins within a goal Tuesday before the Avalanche pulled away again. While he's confined to a third-line role with power-play time, Bunting has been moderately productive with 13 points, 56 shots on net, 38 hits, 20 PIM and a minus-7 rating. He'll maintain decent value in deeper fantasy formats, but he'll be near a must-have forward if he gets back into the top six.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Tallies on power play
Bunting scored a power-play goal on three shots in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Bunting has five points, including three on the power play, over his last four contests. The 29-year-old remains in a third-line role at even strength for now, but he could play his way into the top six if he keeps this up. He's contributed six goals, 12 points (five on the power play), 53 shots on net, 37 hits, 18 PIM and a minus-6 rating through 28 appearances so far, but his streaky scoring can be tough to trust in fantasy.... Penguins' Michael Bunting: Three-point effort in win
Bunting scored a power-play goal and added two assists, one with the man advantage, in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Flames. It was the first multi-point performance of the season for Bunting. The 29-year-old winger had a brutal start to the campaign, but he's turned things around in November. Bunting has five goals and nine points over the last 13 games, and all four of his power-play points (three goals, one assist) have come in the last eight contests.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Prevents shutout Friday
Bunting scored a power-play goal on two shots and added five hits in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Jets. Bunting broke up Connor Hellebuyck's shutout bid at 5:49 of the third period. Typically, Bunting is on the second power-play unit, but he got the look on the first unit because Sidney Crosby was stuck in the penalty box waiting for a stoppage after serving his fighting major. After a terrible October, Bunting has turned things around partially with four goals and two assists over his last nine outings. He's at seven points (two on the power play), 40 shots on net, 30 hits, 14 PIM and a minus-8 rating over 21 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Finds twine in loss
Bunting scored his first goal of the season in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders. Bunting put the Penguins up 3-1 in the third period by snapping a wrist shot past Ilya Sorokin. Bunting added two PIM, one shot, two hits and a plus-1 rating in 11:29 of ice time. The 29-year-old has had a slow start to the 2024-25 campaign with one goal, one assist and a minus-4 rating through 13 games. The left-shot forward is serving in a third-line capacity while working with the No. 2 power-play unit.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Records assist in win
Bunting had an assist, two shots on goal and one hit in Monday's 6-3 win over Montreal. Bunting teamed up with Evgeni Malkin to set up Rickard Rakell, giving Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead in the first period. It was the first point of the season for Bunting, who recorded 19 points over 21 games after being traded from Carolina to Pittsburgh in 2023-24. His spot on the second line with Malkin and Rakell could be a productive gig.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Gets back to 20-goal mark
Bunting scored twice and went minus-2 in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Bruins. Bunting netted a power-play goal in the second period and scored late in the third, but it was too late to make a difference. The winger has four goals and five assists through seven outings in April. That surge has helped him get back to the 20-goal mark for the third time in four years. He's added 32 assists, 164 shots on net, 48 hits, 57 PIM and a minus-19 rating through 79 appearances between the Penguins and the Hurricanes.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Three points including GWG
Bunting scored the game-winning goal and added two assists in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Lightning. The 28-year-old winger completed his big night by tapping home a slick feed from Evgeni Malkin on Andrei Vasilevskiy's doorstep with a little over five minutes left in the third period. Bunting has racked up four goals and 12 points over the last 12 games, and he sits two tallies short of his third straight 20-goal campaign with five games left on the schedule for Pittsburgh.... Penguins' Michael Bunting: Leaves game due to illness
Bunting left Saturday's game versus the Blue Jackets due to an illness. Bunting played just 9:54 in the contest, posting a minus-1 rating and no other fantasy-relevant statistics. The winger should be considered day-to-day ahead of Monday's game versus the Rangers.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Two-point effort Friday
Bunting scored a goal and added an assist in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Stars. The 28-year-old winger opened the scoring early in the first period, but the game quickly slipped away from Pittsburgh afterward. Bunting has a four-game point streak, and in eight contests since getting traded to the Pens, he's produced three goals and six points.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Michael Bunting: Headlines package to Pittsburgh
Bunting, Ville Koivunen, Vasily Ponomarev, Cruz Lucius, a conditional 2024 first-round pick and a conditional 2024 fifth-round pick were traded from the Hurricanes to the Penguins on Thursday in exchange for Jake Guentzel and Ty Smith, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports. Bunting was held out of Thursday's game versus the Flyers for trade-related reasons. The gritty winger will take a roster spot for the Penguins and could see a fairly big boost in production while playing in the top six and on the power play once he joins the team. The 28-year-old had 36 points over 60 outings with the Hurricanes prior to the trade.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Michael Bunting: Sitting for trade reasons
Bunting (not injury related) won't play Thursday against Montreal for trade-related reasons. Bunting is a new name in the trade mix. He's been solid this season with 36 points, including 16 on the power play, over 60 appearances. The Hurricanes waived both Brendan Lemieux and Tony DeAngelo on Thursday, but one of them will play versus the Canadiens since Bunting will be sitting out.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Michael Bunting: Adds PP helper Saturday
Bunting recorded a power-play assist on three shots in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Jets. Given his current pace, Bunting has a chance to crack the 50-point mark for the second time in his career after just barely missing that mark last season (23G, 26A). He continues to skate primarily on the Canes' second line and remains a decent fantasy option in most standard formats.... See More ... See Less
