Predators' Ryan O'Reilly: Helps out twice in home loss
O'Reilly posted two assists and recorded four shots in Tuesday's 3-2 home loss against the Ducks. O'Reilly had a hand in both of the team's goals, collecting a secondary apple on each. One of the assists was on the power play late in the second period. O'Reilly has picked up the pace in November, notching four goals and seven points in six games, matching his total of four goals and seven points across nine contests in the month of October. O'Reilly scored three goals, including the game-winner on the power play, and added an assist in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Oilers. With the score tied 1-1, O'Reilly gave the Predators a lead they wouldn't relinquish with two tallies early in the second period and another in the third for his fifth career NHL hat trick. O'Reilly notched an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Canucks. While the Predators lost, they were able to help O'Reilly celebrate his 1,000th game. The center has been a strong contributor at the NHL level with 709 points in his career. O'Reilly scored two power-play goals Saturday in a 3-2 overtime win over the Maple Leafs. The first goal was a wrist shot that went under Ilya Samsonov's pad. The second was a tip-in that Samsonov had no chance to get. O'Reilly was playing against the Maple Leafs for the first time since inking the deal with the Predators on July 1. O'Reilly tallied a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Lightning. O'Reilly got Nashville on the board late in the second period, redirecting a Filip Forsberg feed under the blocker of Jonas Johansson, before adding an assist on Juuso Parssinen's goal in the third. O'Reilly signed a four-year, $18 million contract with the Predators on Saturday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. O'Reilly is coming off a down year offensively, posting 30 points (16 goals, 14 assists) in 53 games between the Blues and the Maple Leafs. Still, the 32-year-old center was able to secure a long-term deal with an AAV of $4.5 million.
