Jamaal Charles: Retiring from football
Charles is signing a one-day contract to retire with the Chiefs, 610 Sports Radio KC reports.
Charles played two games for Jacksonville in 2018, taking eight touches for 14 yards before he was released Oct. 22. He averaged 4.3 yards on 69 carries the previous season in Denver, but he hasn't looked remotely the same since suffering a torn ACL in 2015. The 32-year-old finishes his career with 1,407 carries for 7,563 yards and 44 touchdowns, along with 310 catches for 2,593 yards and 20 additional scores. Charles ranks fourth in league history with 5.4 yards per carry, trailing only Michael Vick (7.0), Randall Cunningham (6.4) and Marion Motley (5.7).

Jamaal Charles: Works out with Ravens
Charles had a recent workout with the Ravens, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Charles was the most notable of a group that included Charcandrick West, Fitzgerald Toussaint, Akrum Wadley and Dare Ogunbowale. The Ravens likely are doing their due diligence with only three running backs on the 53-man roster and two (Kenneth Dixon, knee; De'Lance Turner, hamstring) on injured reserve. In his two-game stint with the Jaguars earlier this month, Charles earned 20 offensive snaps, which he turned into eight touches for 14 yards from scrimmage.

Jamaal Charles: Cut by Jags
The Jaguars released Charles on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Charles' two-game run in Jacksonville has come to an end, with 14 yards from scrimmage on eight touches. The addition of Carlos Hyde late last week was the death knell for this move. Charles will now wait for a call from another organization with a need for RB help.

Jaguars' Jamaal Charles: Receives six touches
Charles rushed five times for five yards and caught one of two targets for five yards in Sunday's 40-7 loss to the Cowboys.
The Jaguars' offense struggled to do anything against the Cowboys, but T.J. Yeldon dominated the snaps -- playing 31 of 48 -- and touches with 41 yards on eight carries while catching three of five targets for 29 yards. Charles was decently involved despite being on the team for less than a week, but the Jags ran only 48 offensive plays and didn't score until mid-way through the third quarter, making it difficult to glean anything of value in the lopsided result. The 32-year-old should remain firmly behind Yeldon for backfield work if Leonard Fournette (hamstring) is unable to return in Week 7.

Jaguars' Jamaal Charles: Expected to play in Week 6
The Jaguars plan to keep Charles active for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, with the 31-year-old expected to fill a part-time role behind starting running back T.J. Yeldon, the Associated Press reports.
After Charles agreed Tuesday on a one-year deal with Jacksonville, the team ruled lead back Leonard Fournette (hamstring) out for Week 6 a day later, allowing both Yeldon and Charles to temporarily move up a spot on the depth chart. Rookie Dave Williams was also added from the Broncos' practice squad to bolster Jacksonville's backfield depth, but he's not a serious candidate to immediately steals snaps from Yeldon and Charles, both of whom are more proven NFL options. With Fournette possibly out until after the Jaguars' Week 9 bye, Charles should get at least couple weeks to prove he can still contribute in the league, though it's expected that Yeldon will handle the bulk of the backfield touches in the interim. Despite his status as a four-time Pro Bowler, Charles is probably only worth a look in the deepest of fantasy leagues, unless he cuts into Yeldon's workload more than anticipated.

Jamaal Charles: Will audition for Jacksonville
Charles is among the free-agent running backs that the Jaguars will work out this week to address their dwindling depth at the position, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
A four-time Pro Bowler, Charles is arguably the most accomplished unsigned running back on the market, but the fact that he's on the wrong side of 30 years old and has never been a paragon of durability has resulted in teams expressing limited interest in his services. That won't prevent the Jaguars from at least taking a look at Charles with Leonard Fournette (hamstring) expected to miss at least one more game and Corey Grant (foot) ruled out for the season. As part of a backfield committee in Denver last season, Charles showed he could still be effective in a part-time role, rattling off 4.3 yards per carry across 14 games. If he impresses the Jaguars in his workout and earns a contract, Charles could dress as the team's No. 2 or 3 back in Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

Charles came to terms with Jacksonville shortly after he completed a workout with the team. The 31-year-old hadn't gained much traction in free agency since the new league year opened, but after mostly staying healthy and averaging 4.3 yards per carry in a reserve role for Denver last season, he proved he still has something left in the tank. Charles could factor immediately into the Jaguars' backfield rotation Sunday against the Cowboys, as the team is lacking in established depth beyond T.J. Yeldon, with Leonard Fournette (hamstring) expected to sit out another week and Corey Grant (foot) on injured reserve.

Jamaal Charles: Washington visit on tap
Charles is slated to visit with Washington on Sunday, Josina Anderson of ESPN reports.
With Derrius Guice (knee) out for the season and both Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (lower leg) banged up, it's not surprising that Washington is looking to add some backfield depth. Charles has name recognition, but it's not clear what he has left in the tank. If he does end up signing with Washington, we wouldn't expect him to land a large role, at least initially, but the 31-year-old could provide the team with an additional change-of-pace option.
