Dominik Eberle: Cut by Detroit
The Lions waived Eberle on Tuesday.
Signed off the practice squad last Saturday, Eberle served as the Lions' kicker in an eventual 48-45 loss to the Seahawks in Week 4 while top option Austin Seibert (groin) was sidelined. Even in the NFL's highest-scoring game of the season, Eberle came away with only five points, as he missed two of his four extra-point tries while knocking down a 49-yard field-goal attempt. Seibert's status is uncertain for the Lions' Week 5 game at New England, but the team evidently didn't deem Eberle a dependable fill-in option if a replacement kicker is required again.

Lions' Dominik Eberle: Shaky 2022 debut
Eberle converted his only field-goal attempt and two of four PATs during Sunday's 48-45 loss to the Seahawks.
It is hard to be impressed with the fill-in kicker stepping in to convert a 49-yard field goal when Eberle also missed two extra points and sent a kickoff out of bounds. Even if Austin Seibert (groin) doesn't suit up for Week 5, Eberle is uncertain to return for another game with the Lions.

The Lions signed Eberle to the active roster Saturday.
Eberle is set to fill in for Austin Seibert, who was ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks due to a groin injury. The Lions are missing a number of key offensive pieces, including D'Andre Swift (shoulder), Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) and DJ Chark (ankle), so don't expect the offense to generate enough opportunities for Eberle to be a fantasy asset Week 4.

Eberle will replace Aldrick Rosas (undisclosed), who was placed on the practice squad injured list Friday. Eberle played in one game as a fill-in for Ka'imi Fairbairn last season with Houston. During the contest, he went 2-for-3 on field-goal attempts and made all five of his extra-point tries.

Dominik Eberle: Waived by Green Bay
Eberle was waived by the Packers on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Green Bay initially brought in Eberle to provide an extra leg this offseason behind starting kicker Mason Crosby. However, Eberle now has been replaced by undrafted rookie Gabe Brkic, whom the Packers claimed off waivers in a corresponding move Monday. Eberle played one game as a fill-in for Ka'imi Fairbairn with Houston last season, converting two of three field-goal attempts and all five of his extra-point attempts, and should have a chance to compete for a similar emergency backup role elsewhere this offseason.

Packers' Dominik Eberle: Joins Green Bay
Eberle signed a contract with the Packers on Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Eberle appeared in one NFL game during 2021 with Houston and went 2-for-3 on field-goal attempts and 5-for-5 on PATs, and he also spent time on Houston's and Carolina's practice squads. Mason Crosby remains under contract with Green Bay for 2022 but isn't guaranteed to stick around, while JJ Molson is also on the roster after spending last season on the practice squad as the emergency kicking option.

Eberle was signed to the Panthers' practice squad Saturday, Darin Gantt of the team's official website reports.
The kicker was added as an emergency option behind Lirim Hajrullahu ahead of Sunday's season finale against the Buccaneers. Eberle started for the Texans in Week 16, going 2-for-3 on field goal attempts and 5-for-5 on PATs.

Eberle (undisclosed) was restored to Houston's practice squad from the practice squad COVID-19 list and subsequently released, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Eberle filled in as the Texans' kicker in Week 16 and went 2-for-3 on field goals and 5-for-5 on PATs, and he landed on the COVID list a couple days later. Regular kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn is now healthy. so Eberle has been let go after clearing the league's virus protocols.

Eberle was elevated from the practice squad ahead of Week 16 to fill in for Ka'imi Fairbairn, who had been placed on the same list. Eberle, who agreed to a deal earlier Thursday to join Houston's practice squad, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, thus looks like the top candidate to handle kicking duties this weekend. Fairbairn is vaccinated, so he'll have a chance to clear the NFL's COVID-19 return-to-play protocol if he's asymptomatic.

Eberle spent the 2020 campaign on the Raiders' practice squad and has yet to make his NFL debut. The Panthers traded for Ryan Santoso before the 53-man cutdown deadline and he will be the Week 1 starter for Carolina. Eberle will be the primary backup, but he likely won't be active unless Santoso is unable to suit up.
