Colts' Will Mallory: Two receptions in win
Mallory had two receptions for four yards on four targets in Sunday's overtime win at Tennessee.
A week after being a starter, Mallory was fourth among Colts tight ends in playing time with 13 snaps on offense. All four tight ends (Kylen Granson, Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox) went on between 12 to 13 routes. It's hard to forecast any of them having consistent roles in the passing game as a result.

Colts' Will Mallory: Gets start at TE
Mallory started at tight end and had two receptions for 29 yards on three targets in Sunday's 27-20 win over Tampa Bay.
Mallory was a surprise starter since he's been inactive most weeks. He led the Indy tight ends in routes run (21 routes to Kylen Granson's 16 and Mo Alie-Cox's 13), though he was third at the position in scrimmage snaps (27 snaps to 34 for Alie-Cox and 31 for Granson). No tight end in Indianapolis has much fantasy value given how rarely they are utilized in the passing offense and how the targets are split three ways, but it's worth monitoring whether Mallory's increased usage is a trend.

Colts' Will Mallory: Inactive Sunday
Mallory (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
With Kylen Granson back in the mix after missing two games, Mallory will be the odd man out in a Colts' Week 9 tight end corps that also includes Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox. Through four contests to date, Mallory has caught three of his six targets for 55 yards.

Colts' Will Mallory: Just one reception
Mallory had one reception for six yards on two targets in Sunday's loss to New Orleans.
Mallory played on 15 of of the offense's 71 snaps. He went out for a pass on all 15 of his snaps, which was the second-most routes among the tight ends (Drew Ogletree had 20 and Mo Alie-Cox had 13). However, that usage doesn't translate to many fantasy points, as the Colts don't use tight ends much in the passing game and divide the targets among multiple players at the position.

Colts' Will Mallory: Plays just nine snaps
Mallory did not have a reception on his lone target in Sunday's loss to Cleveland.
He played nine snaps on offense as Drew Ogletree started at tight end with Kylen Granson out with a concussion and Jelani Woods (hamstring) still on injured reserve. Mo Alie-Cox had the only reception among tight ends in the loss, as they were needed as blockers against Cleveland's strong pass rush. Mallory is inactive most games and could return to the bench if either Granson or Woods is able to return next week.

Colts' Will Mallory: Two receptions in NFL debut
Mallory had two receptions for 49 yards on two targets in Sunday's win at Houston.
Mallory was a healthy inactive Week 1, but the 2023 fifth-round draft pick got playing time with Andrew Ogletree (concussion/coach's decision) out. He played on 11 of the offense's 57 snaps compared to 37 snaps for Kylen Granson and 23 snaps for Mo Alie-Cox. Still, Mallory had a rapport with backup Gardner Minshew, and it's possible he could become the breakout receiver of a deep tight-end mix. However, it's more likely none of the Colts tight ends get enough work in the passing game to be viable in most fantasy formats.

Colts' Will Mallory: Available to make NFL debut
Mallory is active for Sunday's matchup against the Texans.
A rookie fifth-round pick, Mallory was a healthy scratch for Week 1, but with Andrew Ogletree (concussion/coach's decision) out, he'll have a chance to make his NFL debut versus Houston. Starting tight end Kylen Granson may be limited due to a recent hamstring injury, so Mallory could see a handful of snaps in a depth role behind Granson and Mo Alie-Cox.

Colts' Will Mallory: Two receptions in preseason debut
Mallory had two receptions for 29 yards on two targets in Saturday's preseason win over Chicago.
Mallory missed the preseason opener with a hamstring injury but had a nice showing working with the second- and third-string units. The 2023 fifth-round draft pick faces an uphill battle to win a roster spot amid a crowded tight end position, but he could open the season on the active roster with Mo Alie-Cox (ankle), Jelani Woods (hamstring) and Andrew Ogletree (knee) all sidelined.

The fifth-round pick can now join his teammates in practice after missing the first week of training camp. Colts' Will Mallory: Still nursing injury
Mallory (foot) will begin training camp on the active/PUP list, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.
The 2023 fifth-round pick has been dealing with a foot injury since the beginning of June, but it seems as if progress has been made. General manager Chris Ballard told reporters the move is precautionary, and Mallory should be back soon.
