The Bills cut Gentry from their practice squad Tuesday.
Gentry saw three elevations during the regular season but failed to haul in his lone target across 20 offensive snaps. Buffalo also cut Joe Giles-Harris from the practice squad to make room for Cortez Broughton and Dezmon Patmon.

The Bills elevated Gentry from their practice squad Wednesday ahead of their Thanksgiving game against Detroit.
This is Gentry's third elevation of the season, as he was also active in Weeks 5 and 11. He's played 18 offensive snaps over two contests and has drawn only one target, which he did not catch. Barring injuries ahead of him, Gentry is unlikely to play a significant role Thursday against the Lions.

Gentry did not record a target and played seven offensive snaps during his second elevation from Buffalo's practice squad this season. With wideouts Jake Kumerow (ankle) and Jamison Crowder (ankle) still on IR, Gentry could stand to be elevated again ahead of the Bills' matchup against the Lions on Thanksgiving Day.

Gentry will be active for just the second time this season and the first time since Week 5. The undrafted wideout failed to haul in his only target across 11 offensive snaps against Pittsburgh that week and figures to see a similar role in Week 11.

Gentry was activated from Buffalo's practice squad for the first time this season with wideouts Jake Kumerow (ankle) and Jamison Crowder (ankle) both out Sunday. The 27-year-old played just 11 offensive snaps and failed to record a catch on his lone target during this 38-3 blowout win over Pittsburgh. However, Gentry could be a candidate for two more elevations from the Bills' practice squad after Crowder was placed on injured reserve Monday.

Bills' Tanner Gentry: Elevated for Week 5
The Bills elevated Gentry on Saturday from their practice squad to their active roster for Sunday's contest against the Steelers, Matt Parrino of The Syracuse Post-Standard reports.
With Jake Kumerow and Jamison Crowder sidelined due to ankle injuries, Gentry will get his first opportunity on the Bills' active roster. The 27-year-old wideout hasn't appeared in an NFL game since he caught three of six targets for 35 yards across four games with the Bears in 2017.

Gentry will join the Bills' practice squad for the second time since being waived as part of the team's final 53-man roster cuts in late August. The high-flying Bills rely heavily on numerous wide receivers, so they're loading up on reserves heading into the playoffs and with Cole Beasley working through a knee issue. However, even though Gentry was a teammate of Josh Allen at Wyoming, the Bills signed Kenny Stills to the practice squad as well, and it would seem far more likely Stills would get the call if the team needs more help in the playoffs.

After shining in the 2018 preseason, Gentry followed up his zero-catch performance of last week with an efficient but unspectacular follow-up effort. He's currently buried on the depth chart, and it appears that he faces long odds of cracking the 53-man roster.
