  • Kadarius Toney: Looks healthy again

Toney (undisclosed), who is a member of the Browns' practice squad, is back at practice Thursday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Toney has practiced both Wednesday and Thursday, and he looks healthy after having missed over a month due to an undisclosed injury. With Amari Cooper now a member of the Bills, Toney may be a candidate to elevate from the practice squad and bolster Cleveland's wide-receiver corps as early as Sunday versus the Ravens.

  • Kadarius Toney: Still not practicing

Toney (undisclosed) will not practice with the Browns this week, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Toney signed with Cleveland's practice squad Sept. 9 but has been out of action with the injury since Sept. 11 and will seemingly remain out until at least next week. It's not yet clear what plans the Browns have for the former Chiefs wideout, but he'll need to get healthy first, to earn a spot on their 53-man roster.

  • Kadarius Toney: Tries out for Cleveland

The Browns hosted Toney for a tryout Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Toney recently visited with the Seahawks, but he ended up departing Seattle without a deal. It was reported that he had one more workout lined up, after which he would make a decision on whether to sign with one of the two suitors. With Cleveland being revealed as the second team in the mix, Toney's decision could come down to where he feels he has the best opportunity to contribute. In either case, he'd likely have to start on the practice squad, but the Browns are relatively thin at receiver behind Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore, especially after having waived David Bell on Thursday.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Not playing vs. Jacksonvile

Toney (back) was not seen in pregame warmups for the Chiefs' preseason opener against the Jaguars on Saturday, Blair Kerkhoff of The Kansas City Star reports. Toney has battled separate ankle and back injuries during training camp, and the 2021 first-round pick will be held out of Saturday's preseason tilt. He may get some reps in Kansas City's second preseason game against Detroit on Aug. 17, if healthy. Toney is competing for a depth spot at wide receiver, and he's also been utilized out of the backfield and on special teams as a returner during training camp.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Back on the field

Toney (ankle) returned to practice Monday, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports. Toney left practice last Wednesday with an ankle injury, but the 2021 first-rounder's return to the field Monday bodes well for his chances of being available for Saturday's preseason opener against the Jaguars. He's coming off a 2023 regular season in which he caught 27 of his 38 targets for 169 yards and a TD to go along with 11 carries for 31 yards in 13 contests. While Toney still has a chance to claim a role in the Chiefs' re-tooled wideout corps in 2024, at this stage Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy profile as the team's most fantasy-relevant options at the position.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Getting backfield work

Toney has been seeing reps at running back early in training camp, Blair Kerkhoff of The Kansas City Star reports. Handling carries isn't completely foreign to Toney, as he's rushed 21 times for 119 yards and one touchdown across four NFL seasons. He also rushed 66 times for 580 yards and two scores in four seasons at Florida before entering the league. With the additions of first-rounder Xavier Worthy and free-agent pickup Hollywood Brown in the offseason to go along with Rashee Rice, Mecole Hardman, Justin Watson and Skyy Moore, wideout snaps may be difficult to come by for Toney. Getting him a look at running back could be a way to get him on the field a bit more, and it would be a way to get the ball in his hands quicker and closer to the line of scrimmage after he struggled mightily to come up with catches last season. Kansas City lost Jerick McKinnon over the offseason and didn't do a whole lot to replace his speed and pass-catching ability at running back. The more Toney can do, the better chance he has of cracking the gameday roster.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Pressure to impress in camp

Toney could land on the trade block before the start of the 2024 regular season unless he's able to log an impressive training camp, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports. Toney missed training camp and the preseason last year due to injuries, then struggled with consistency and health before ending up as a healthy scratch for Kansas City's final stretch of games, including the team's Super Bowl win over the 49ers. Now, with the additions of Marquise Brown and rookie first-rounder Xavier Worthy, Toney could be staring down a make-or-break training camp. The same is true for 2022 second-round pick Skyy Moore, plus Mecole Hardman, Justyn Ross and Nikko Remigio, all of whom are competing for limited depth spots behind Brown, Worthy, Rashee Rice and Justin Watson.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Still in team's plans

Kansas City is optimistic Toney will contribute in 2024, ESPN's Adam Teicher reports. GM Brett Veach recently referred to Toney as "probably our most talented wideout," and coach Andy Reid said the 25-year-old is "arguably one of the most talented guys on the team." The implication, supported by Veach's comments, is that Toney's lack of playing time last season was a product of his medical issues, starting with a meniscus injury during training camp. Of course, injuries have been a constant for the 2021 first-round pick, who has missed at least four games in each of his three pro seasons and also seen his snaps limited a number of other times, and Toney has never recorded more than six targets or 30 offensive snaps in his 23 total game with Kansas City between the regular season and postseason. An ongoing legal situation involving Rashee Rice could open the door for Toney to get more playing time at some point in 2024, with his YAC ability potentially making him a good fit to see a lot of the quick passes Rice hauled in as a rookie in 2023. Fantasy relevance seems like somewhat of a long shot nonetheless, especially after Toney was a healthy(ish) scratch for the team's Super Bowl win over San Francisco in February.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Likely to sit out Super Bowl

Toney is expected to be a healthy inactive Sunday for the Chiefs' matchup with the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, a league source told Adam Schefter of ESPN. Toney hasn't played since Week 15, but after turning in a slate of full practices over the two weeks of Super Bowl prep, he appears to have moved past the strained hip and ankle injury that kept him out for the past five games. However, Toney's lengthy absence and underwhelming play when healthy during the regular season appear to be factors in the Chiefs' apparent decision to hold him out for the Super Bowl. Toney likely didn't help his cause by claiming he was "not hurt" in an Instagram Live video posted shortly before the Chiefs' win over the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 28, though he later clarified that his rant was directed toward the Giants, his former team. After scoring a touchdown in last season's Super Bowl win over the Eagles and setting up another score in the fourth quarter with a 65-yard punt return, Toney was expected to take on a featured role in the passing attack in 2023, but he was limited to just 27 receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown while dropping five of his 38 targets over his 13 regular-season appearances.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Listed as full participant

Toney (personal) was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report. The Chiefs didn't actually practice Tuesday, but Toney apparently would have been a full participant if the team took the field. Toney hasn't played at all in the playoffs, with his absence from the first two games attributed to hip and ankle injuries and his absence from the AFC Championship Game attributed to both his hip and a personal issue (reportedly the birth of his first child). Prior to last Sunday's win over the Ravens, Toney went on Instagram Live and suggested that he wasn't hurt and implied that the Chiefs weren't being truthful about his injury status, but head coach Andy Reid said Monday that the receiver's inclusion on injury reports was "not made up by any means," per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com. Though Toney's listing as a full participant on the injury report implies that both the receiver and the team are now in agreement that he's healthy, it's uncertain that he'll be active for the Super Bowl. He hasn't played since Week 15 and hadn't performed up to expectations when healthy this season, notably dropping five of his 38 targets over his 13 appearances while also having a costly offside penalty late in a Week 14 loss to the Bills that wiped out a potential game-winning touchdown.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Not playing Sunday

Toney (hip/personal) has been ruled out for Sunday's AFC Championship Game matchup with the Ravens. Toney practiced in a limited fashion both Thursday and Friday, but he'll still end up missing a sixth consecutive game. In addition to managing the hip issue, Toney will also be away from the Chiefs while he awaits the birth of his first child. Justin Watson and Mecole Hardman should continue to see expanded snaps at receiver Sunday while Toney is unavailable.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Questionable to face Ravens

Toney (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Ravens. After logging a full listing Wednesday, Toney was deemed limited in practice both Thursday and Friday and questionable ahead of Sunday's contest. Toney last saw game action back in Week 15, and if he's available versus Baltimore, he'll look to reclaim a role in a Kansas City WR corps that also includes Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Mecole Hardman. In the 13 regular-season games he saw action in prior to sustaining his hip issue, Toney recorded 27 catches (on 38 targets) for 169 yards and a touchdown to go along with 11 carries for 31 yards.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Back to limited Thursday

Toney (hip) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday. In his attempt to put an end to a five-game absence, Toney opened this week with a full session Wednesday, only to follow it up with a capped practice one day later. The development may have been related to maintenance of his lingering hip issue, but he now could be in danger of entering the weekend with a designation for Sunday's AFC Championship Game at Baltimore. Ultimately, Friday's injury report will reveal as much.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Remains limited at practice

Toney (hip/ankle) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday. Toney, who last suited up for the Chiefs' 27-17 win over the Patriots on Dec. 17, also practiced in a limited fashion last week, but he was subsequently made inactive for Saturday's wild-card win over the Dolphins. With another limited session in the books Wednesday, Toney appears to have a chance to return to action in Sunday's divisional round playoff game against the Bills.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Sitting out Saturday

Toney (hip/ankle) is listed as inactive for Saturday's wild-card game against the Dolphins. Toney sat out Weeks 16 and 17 due to a strained hip before an ankle injury began to be listed next to his name during Week 18 prep. He missed all three contests, but his ability to practice in a limited capacity this week gave him a chance to return to action. That won't come to pass for Toney, meaning the Chiefs will lean on Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mecole Hardman and Richie James at wide receiver in their postseason opener.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Another limited practice

Toney (hip/ankle) remained a limited participant at practice Wednesday. Toney was sidelined for the Chiefs' last three regular-season contests, but two straight limited sessions this week suggest that the wideout could be available for Saturday's playoff opener against the Dolphins. He'll presumably need to log a full practice listing Thursday, however, in order to avoid heading into the weekend with an injury designation.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Idle for Week 18

Toney (hip/ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Toney and Rashee Rice (hamstring) are the only Chiefs skill-position players ruled out for Week 18 for injury-related reasons, but with Kansas City already locked in as the No. 3 seed in the AFC playoffs heading into the regular-season finale, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and several other key contributors are expected to be rested for the contest or play only limited snaps. Given that Toney hasn't played since Week 15 and regressed from limited practice participation Wednesday to no participation Thursday, it's far from a lock that he'll be ready to play the following week, when the Chiefs host a to-be-determined opponent in the wild-card round. Toney finishes the regular season with 27 catches for 169 yards and a touchdown on 38 targets to go with 11 carries for 31 yards over 13 appearances.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Returns to practice

Toney was a limited participant at practice Wednesday due to hip and ankle injuries. Toney didn't practice last week and has missed two straight games due to a hip strain, but he's now apparently dealing with an additional injury as the Chiefs begin Week 18 prep. On a positive note, Toney still managed to take the field Wednesday in some capacity, which marks a step forward in his recovery and suggests that he could put an end to his two-game absence Sunday versus the Chargers. That said, with the Chiefs locked in as the AFC's No. 3 seed in the playoffs, the team has no incentive to play the wideout in the regular-season finale if they're not convinced he's 100 percent healthy.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Absent to begin Week 17 prep

Toney (hip) won't practice Wednesday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Toney missed Monday's 20-14 loss to the Raiders and still isn't ready to resume practicing. He'll have two more opportunities to take the practice field Thursday and Friday before Kansas City decides whether the wideout will carry a designation into Sunday's game against the Bengals.

  • Chiefs' Kadarius Toney: Officially ruled out

Toney (hip) is out for Monday's game against the Raiders, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Toney failed to practice in any capacity during the week, so the fact that he's been ruled out doesn't come as a significant surprise. Marquez Valdes-Scantling should have a chance to step up in Toney's absence, while Richie James could also see his snap count rise.
