Duke Williams: Settles out of Buffalo
Williams (hamstring) has been removed from injured reserve after coming to an injury settlement with the Bills, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports.
One would think a hamstring injury wasn't going to sideline Williams an entire season, so this gives him a chance to look for work elsewhere after not really having a spot in a deep Bills receiving corps.

Williams didn't have much of a role for the team last year with just four offensive snaps in the regular season, and he'll now spend the 2021 campaign on the shelf unless he works out an injury settlement with the team.

Williams (hamstring) was waived with an injury designation by the Bills on Monday.
The 29-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during practice back on Aug. 10, and he's now been waived as he continues to deal with the issue. Williams will revert to Buffalo's injured reserve if he goes through the waiver wire unclaimed.

Williams entered the league in 2016 and didn't make his NFL debut until 2019, when he played four games, recording 12 receptions for 166 yards and a touchdown. With John Brown (knee) sidelined for Sunday's game versus the Jets, Williams will add depth. He's lined up as the No. 6 wide receiver in the pecking order, but he could handle some garbage time reps if the game gets out of hand early.

The Bills aren't able to reveal whether Williams tested positive for COVID-19 or merely was exposed to someone who did as he reported to camp. Having said that, he spent 12 days working his way back to the active roster. Williams is expected to be active for Saturday's wild-card tilt against the Texans, Jenna Harner of News 4 Buffalo reports.
Williams had a productive regular-season finale, as he hauled in six of 12 targets for 108 yards. He had not suited up since Week 8 prior to that, but with the team resting several starters to keep them healthy for the playoffs, the rookie got an opportunity to shine. It looks like he did enough to earn an active designation, but he is simply expected to provide depth at wide receiver.
