Ethan Westbrooks: Cut by Niners
The 49ers released Westbrooks on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Westbrooks was recently signed by the team Wednesday, but he was swiftly cut a few days after. Westbrooks failed to suit up in a 2019 regular-season game, while he's accumulated 79 tackles, nine sacks and a forced fumble across 67 games in his NFL career.

49ers' Ethan Westbrooks: Joining San Francisco
Westbrooks signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Wednesday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Westbrooks didn't see any regular-season action in 2019 after getting cut by the Raiders last August, but he'll now get another chance to compete for a depth role in San Francisco throughout the offseason. The 29-year-old most recently suited up for the Rams in 2018, notching eight tackles (five solo), one sack and one pass breakup in 16 games that season.

Raiders' Ethan Westbrooks: Finds new home
Westbrooks agreed to an undisclosed contract with the Raiders on Tuesday.
Westbrooks will head to Oakland after spending the last five seasons with the Rams. He's been decently productive in a depth role to this point in his NFL career, making 79 tackles and nine sacks in 67 games. The 28-year-old will have a chance to crack the roster for his hometown team, as Westbrooks was born in Oakland.

Rams' Ethan Westbrooks: Pleads no contest
Westbrooks recently pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of carrying a loaded firearm, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Westbrooks was arrested in September, just two weeks after signing a one-year, $1.75 million extension with the Rams. He's been sentenced to one day in jail, getting credit for time served, along with three years of probation. The 27-year-old had 23 tackles and four sacks last season, making nine starts in 16 games. Westbrooks likely will serve as a backup this upcoming season, as the Rams plan to start Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh and Michael Brockers on the defensive line. Westbrooks may be suspended by the NFL now that his legal case has reached a conclusion.

Rams' Ethan Westbrooks: Records two sacks in win over Cards
Westbrooks collected four tackles (three solo) and two sacks during Sunday's 32-16 win over Arizona.
Considering he played just 22 of 64 defensive snaps, Westbrooks stuffed the stat sheet Sunday. His 21 tackles (13 solo) and four sacks through 12 games for the campaign hardly land him on the fantasy radar. However, with offenses forced to focus on Aaron Donald, the rest of Los Angeles' defensive linemen will continue to have opportunities to pressure opposing quarterbacks.

Rams' Ethan Westbrooks: Charged with misdemeanor
Westbrooks has been charged with one misdemeanor count of carrying a loaded firearm stemming from a September arrest, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.
With an arraignment scheduled for Friday in Kern County, Calif., Westbrooks is in line to miss the final practice of Week 11 preparations. Once he enters a plea, he may join his Rams teammates in time for the trip to Minnesota, but there could be a delay in his arrival. On the season, he's played 28.9 percent of the defensive snaps, which has resulted in a modest 13 tackles (eight solo) and two sacks in nine games.

Rams' Ethan Westbrooks: Arrested on gun charges
Westbrooks was arrested Friday for alleged possession of a firearm that wasn't registered to him personally, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN reports.
Westbrooks was initially pulled over in Kern County, California, for speeding. However, the arresting officer found a loaded handgun in Westbrook's possession that was reported as stolen in 2009. In total, the defensive end is being slapped with five felony charges, including receiving stolen property, carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a stolen loaded firearm, grand theft of a firearm and possessing a high-capacity magazine. It isn't clear how the league will respond, but a punishment in some form seems likely.

Rams' Ethan Westbrooks: Inks one-year extension with Los Angeles
Westbrooks signed a one-year, $1.75 million extension Monday with the Rams, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
In addition to keeping Westbrooks in the fold for the Rams through the end of the 2018 campaign, the new deal will reduce the defensive end's salary from $1.79 million to $1.25 million in 2017. Westbrooks evidently determined that the extra year was worthwhile enough for him to take a paycut for 2017, making him a decent bargain for the Rams. The 26-year-old was one of several standout performers in the Rams' Week 1 win over the Colts, registering three tackles and a sack in the 46-9 victory.

Rams' Ethan Westbrooks: Re-signs with Rams
Westbrooks, a restricted free agent, re-signed with the Rams on Monday, Myles Simmons of the team's official site reports.
Westbrooks has tallied at least 19 tackles and two sacks for the Rams in both of the last two seasons. Now that ESPN reported he won't be facing legal charges from an incident last month, Westbrooks can set his sights on protecting his starting defensive end job this summer.

Rams' Ethan Westbrooks: Reportedly arrested Sunday
Westbrooks was reportedly arrested Sunday night on suspicion of domestic violence in Sacramento, California, ESPN's Alden Gonzalez reports.
"We are in contact with authorities and are gathering more information," the Rams noted Monday in a statement regarding the situation. "Per team policy, we will continue to respect the legal process and have no further comment at this time." The 26-year-old defensive tackle, who recorded 24 tackles and two sacks in 16 games for Los Angeles in 2016, is currently a restricted free agent.
