  • Packers' Aaron Jones: Anticipated back in 2023

General Manager Brian Gutekunst said Friday he expects Jones to be on the Packers during the 2023 season, but he didn't rule out a contract restructure to reduce the running back's contract, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Green Bay has a potential 'out' in Jones' contract this offseason, but it appears the dynamic 28-year-old remains in the team's future plans. Jones is currently heading into the final two seasons of his four-year, $48 million contract, however, and a restructure could be necessary for his salary to fit into the Packers' scheme. Green Bay is heading into an offseason that could contain a number of significant decisions, so keeping a versatile player who accumulated 1,516 yards from scrimmage and seven combined touchdowns in 2022 could help ensure some amount of stability on offense.

  • Packers' Aaron Jones: Struggles in last game of season

Jones (knee/ankle) rushed 12 times for 48 yards and lost a fumble while catching three of four targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Lions.

Jones lost a physical battle to Detroit's front seven, as he was seen getting up gingerly after some big hits (including the one he lost a fumble on). The 28-year-old battled minor injuries throughout the season, but he still finished with 1,516 yards from scrimmage and seven combined touchdowns. Jones should continue to be the focal point on offense for a Green Bay squad with an aging quarterback and a raw receiving corps.

  • Packers' Aaron Jones: Ready for Sunday night

Jones (knee/ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Detroit, Rob Demovsky of reports.

Jones has dealt with lower-body injuries throughout the second half of the season, but he's mostly played well all the same and still gets a few more snaps than AJ Dillon most weeks. Dillon's recent dominance of goal-line work has taken a chunk out of Jones' fantasy value, but it's possible the latter gets more work Sunday, and then maybe more in the playoffs if the Packers are able to punch their ticket with a win over Detroit.

  • Packers' Aaron Jones: Another limited session

Jones (knee/ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Jones maintained his activity level from Wednesday's walkthrough as he continues to deal with lingering knee and ankle issues. Since initially getting hurt during a Week 9 loss at Detroit, he's had a huge range of outcomes over the last seven games, tallying between eight and 26 touches per week. Friday's practice report ultimately will reveal whether or not Jones goes into the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest against the Lions.

  • Packers' Aaron Jones: Stays limited at practice

Jones (knee/ankle) was a limited participant at Wednesday's walk-through practice.

Jones has been a mainstay on Packers injury reports for the second half of the campaign due to various lower-body injuries. Currently, knee and ankle issues are affecting his reps, but he still was able to tally 16 touches for 113 yards from scrimmage on 40 percent of the snaps during this past Sunday's win against the Vikings. In that same game, fellow running back AJ Dillon had a 46 percent share of snaps and 12 carries for 41 yards and one touchdown. Assuming Jones is able to play through the pain Sunday versus the Lions, he'll again team with Dillon out of Green Bay's backfield.
