Vikings' Jordan Hicks: Could make late-season return
Defensive coordinator Brian Flores told reporters Tuesday that there's some optimism that Hicks (shin) could return before the end of the regular season, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.
The Vikings' top inside linebacker was placed on injured reserve in mid-November after suffering a shin injury during Week 10's win over the Saints. Hicks had been having one of the best seasons of his long career, as he was averaging 8.7 stops per game over Minnesota's first 10 outings, which would be his best output since 2019. Vikings' Jordan Hicks: Shifts to IR
The Vikings placed Hicks (shin) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Hicks' move to IR comes after he required an emergency surgical procedure Sunday to alleviate "compartment syndrome" related to a shin contusion he suffered in the Vikings' win over the Saints earlier in the day, per Alec Lewis of The Athletic. His absence should pave the way for Ivan Pace to serve as the Vikings' defensive play caller, while Troy Dye and practice-squad signee Anthony Barr look like the top candidates to fill Hicks' vacated snaps at linebacker. Through Minnesota's first 10 games, he tallied 87 tackles, one sack, one interception, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.... See More ... See Less
