Player Outlook
The Broncos have done just about everything they could to inspire hope in a Wilson bounceback season. They replaced Nathaniel Hackett with Sean Payton, added Marvin Mims to the receiving corps in the draft, and added Ben Powers and Mike McGlinchey to bolster the offensive line. There should also be some help in the form of regression. Wilson's 3.3% touchdown rate from last year was the lowest of his career and nearly three points below his career average. If he'd matched his career rate last year, he would have thrown 12 more touchdown passes and his 2022 wouldn't look nearly as abysmal. We're buying halfway back in, ranking Wilson as a high-end QB2 who should be drafted in the double-digit rounds.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Sleeper QBs

Wilson is struggling as a Fantasy quarterback of late with three games in a row with fewer than 19 Fantasy points. He's also passed for more than 200 yards just once since Week 4. But I still like Wilson as a low-end starter in deeper leagues in Week 14 at the Chargers, who are No. 4 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. Wilson will hopefully continue to make plays with his legs after rushing for at least 30 yards in four of his past five games, including a rushing touchdown in consecutive outings. And the last time he faced the Chargers in Week 18 last season he scored 29.1 Fantasy points, so hopefully history repeats itself.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Three turnovers in loss

Wilson completed 15 of 26 passes for 186 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Texans. He added 10 rushes for 44 yards and an additional score. Wilson performed admirably for much of the game and led a comeback effort for the Broncos with a 45-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton as well a score of his own on a quarterback sneak. However, he undid all of that work with three interceptions in the final 16 minutes of game time, including one that sealed the loss from the Texans' eight-yard line with only 16 seconds remaining. Wilson entered the game having not thrown an interception since Week 6. He also has only one passing touchdown in three consecutive games.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Sleeper QBs

Wilson comes into Week 13 with two consecutive games under 19 Fantasy points, but that was in tough matchups against the Vikings and Browns. But he also has one game with more than 200 passing yards in his past seven outings. Still, Denver has won five games in a row, and Wilson has multiple touchdowns in three of his past four contests. The Texans have allowed four quarterbacks in a row to score at least 23 Fantasy points, and Wilson is worth trusting as a No. 1 Fantasy quarterback in all leagues in this matchup.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

There's no denying that he is now among the most efficient quarterbacks in the league. He's top five among qualifying quarterbacks in completion rate at 68.3%, he's first in TD rate at 6.3%, he's fourth in off-target rate (7.8%) and he's clearly worked out his issues with his offensive line because he's landed the fourth-longest time-to-throw average (3.14 seconds). And yet he's done this without firing downfield a ton (32nd in passing ADOT at 6.7 yards)! It hasn't translated for Fantasy because Wilson is averaging 29 attempts per game, and it's even lower in his past six games (26). Expect Wilson to throw more in what could become a shootout against the Texans. QBs against Houston are averaging 34.8 pass attempts per game, and the Texans pass rush shouldn't be a problem. I'd count on Wilson to have a 20-plus point game and thus start him over Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Sam Howell and Jordan Love.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Produces two TDs in win

Wilson completed 13 of 22 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown while adding 34 rushing yards and a TD on 11 carries in Sunday's 29-12 win over the Browns. He also committed two fumbles, losing one. The Denver passing game didn't need to get too frisky due to the struggles of the Cleveland offense, but Wilson ran in his first rushing touchdown of the season in the second quarter as the Broncos built a 14-0 lead, and he hit Adam Trautman for an eight-yard score early in the fourth to help salt the game away. The veteran quarterback has topped 200 passing yards only once in the last seven games, but his 20:4 TD:INT on the year would be one of the best ratios of his career if he can maintain it down the stretch. Wilson gets a more favorable matchup in Week 13 against a Texans defense that just gave up 364 passing yards to Trevor Lawrence -- a season high for the Jaguars QB.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Saves best for last

Wilson completed 27 of 35 pass attempts for 259 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-20 win over the Vikings. Wilson was efficient in spreading his 35 pass attempts around to eight different receivers Sunday, but he still found himself needing a touchdown with minutes left in the eventual win. The 35-year-old completed a methodical two-minute drill that ended with a touch pass that wideout Courtland Sutton wrangled in for the game-winning score. After a horrific start to his career in Denver, Wilson and new head coach Sean Payton have got the Broncos back to a .500 record heading into next Sunday's tilt against the Browns. Fantasy managers rostering multiple QBs may want to explore their alternative options, as the Browns' defense presents a tough matchup in what projects to be a low-scoring affair in Week 12.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Sleeper QBs

Despite not passing for 200 yards in five games in a row, Wilson has become a somewhat reliable Fantasy quarterback with three outings of at least 22.7 points. He's running again with at least 30 rushing yards in four of his past five outings, and it's fun to have Wilson back as a low-end starting Fantasy quarterback in the majority of leagues. He doesn't have an easy matchup in Week 11 against Minnesota since the Vikings have held five quarterbacks in a row to fewer than 19 Fantasy points. But I still like Wilson to deliver a quality stat line at home, so you can trust him once again if needed.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Avoids mistakes in road win

Wilson completed 24 of 29 passes for 193 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Monday's 24-22 win over the Bills. For the second consecutive game, Denver used a run-heavy offensive approach to deliver an upset win. Wilson still played a key role, connecting on touchdowns from seven and three yards away to Courtland Sutton and Javonte Williams, respectively. He also played well when needed, as he led a go-ahead drive in the middle of the fourth quarter and then ran an effective drive in the two-minute offense to set up the game-winning field goal as time expired. Wilson hasn't attempted 30 passes since Week 5, but in four games since, he's thrown seven touchdowns as opposed to only two interceptions.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Sleeper QBs

Wilson is coming off a solid outing in Week 8 against Kansas City prior to Denver's Week 9 bye with 23.6 Fantasy points, and he scored at least 22.7 points in three of his past five games. The Bills have allowed three quarterbacks in a row to score at least 23.9 Fantasy points in Mac Jones, Baker Mayfield and Joe Burrow, and hopefully Wilson can follow suit. Also, in his career, Wilson is averaging 23.6 Fantasy points per game coming off a bye in 11 seasons.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Throws three TDs despite low usage

Wilson completed 12 of 19 pass attempts for 114 yards and three touchdowns and added 30 rushing yards on eight attempts with one lost fumble in Sunday's 24-9 win over Kansas City. In a surprising turn of events, Wilson managed to outduel Patrick Mahomes (241 yards, zero TDs, three TOs) despite failing to reach 20 pass attempts for the first time since joining the Broncos. The veteran posted another paltry yardage total after finishing below 200 yards in his previous three contests, but his three scores helped mask that from a fantasy perspective. Wilson will now enter a bye week before resuming play as a mid-tier fantasy option against the Bills for Monday Night Football in Week 10.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: QBs to Sit

The last time Wilson faced the Chiefs in Week 6 he looked overwhelmed and scored a season-low 8.9 Fantasy points with 95 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, along with 31 rushing yards. He had another quiet Fantasy outing in the Week 7 victory against Green Bay with 15.9 Fantasy points, and Wilson heads into Week 8 as just an option in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues. Kansas City allows an average of just 15.3 Fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, and the Chiefs just shut down Justin Herbert in Week 7, holding him to 12.9 Fantasy points. Wilson is likely going to have another tough outing against this defense in Week 8.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Helps team to victory

Wilson completed 20 of 29 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Packers. He also rushed once for 21 yards. Wilson has now gone three straight games with under 200 passing yards. Unlike his ugly 95-yard, two-interception performance in Week 6, though, Wilson avoided any turnovers Sunday, helping Denver clinch its second win. With an 18-yard touchdown to Courtland Sutton to boot, Wilson's improvement offers some encouragement ahead of a tough matchup versus the Chiefs in Week 8.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Worrisome numbers in Week 6 loss

Wilson completed 13 of 22 passes for 95 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions while also rushing four times for 31 yards in the Broncos' 19-8 loss to the Chiefs on Thursday night. Wilson's final passing line, which included two interceptions in Chiefs territory, essentially sums up his night, and Thursday marked the first time in his career he threw for under 100 yards with multiple interceptions. After also having passed for just 196 yards in the Broncos' Week 5 loss to the Jets, there could well be rumblings about swapping Wilson out for Jarrett Stidham, especially with a few extra days of prep time ahead of a Week 7 home matchup against the Packers on Sunday, Oct. 22.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: QBs to Sit

Wilson has been a nice surprise for Fantasy managers this season, scoring at least 22.7 Fantasy points in three of five games, including two in a row against the Bears and Jets. But I'm not sure this is a great matchup for him against the Chiefs on the road. While Kansas City has allowed Zach Wilson and Kirk Cousins to each score at least 23.2 Fantasy points in the past two games, those were on the road. In two games at home this year, the Chiefs held Jared Goff and Justin Fields to 16.0 Fantasy points or less in each outing. Wilson is still worth starting in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues, but I would bench him in all one-quarterback leagues on Thursday night.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Sit Him (Lineup Decisions)

I chose to drop Wilson in my rankings because this should be one of his toughest matchups of the season, and his reliance on outside receivers and the deep ball are at risk given this matchup. We might see a much more subdued and boring version of Wilson's game, which means he could very well wind up with a stat line like Mahomes had against the Jets last week. I'd rather start Jared Goff, Trevor Lawrence, Joshua Dobbs and C.J. Stroud.

  • Broncos' Russell Wilson: Trows three TDs in comeback win

Wilson completed 21 of 28 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 31-28 win over Chicago. Wilson opened the scoring with an 18-yard touchdown pass on a screen to Jaleel McLaughlin, but Chicago responded with four unanswered touchdowns before Wilson cut the deficit to 28-14 with a four-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Johnson. The veteran quarterback added a 13-yard touchdown to Courtland Sutton in the fourth quarter, which was followed by a Denver defensive score to tie it up, a Denver field goal and a Justin Fields interception to end it. After picking up their first win under coach Sean Payton, Wilson and the Broncos will look to build on this victory in a Week 5 home game against the Jets. Payton's arrival has had a positive impact on Wilson's production, as the multi-time Pro Bowler has a 9:2 TD:INT through four games in 2023 after posting a disappointing 16:11 TD:INT across 15 starts in his first season with the Broncos.
