For players on the NFL roster bubble, the difference between a roster spot and unemployment can be as simple as a need created by injury issues to key players.
Detroit released them Monday afternoon and replaced them on the roster Tuesday with DT Bobby Skinner and CB Isaac Madison.
Giants to address the depth issues created by injuries to DTs Corey Williams, Andre Fluellen and Sammie Hill. The undrafted free agent from Montclair State was signed by the Giants on Aug. 16 but was released four days later. Madison was likely acquired to fill out the roster during camp. He was released by Dallas following the first week of training camp.
Calvin Johnson's All-Pro performance last season earned him league-wide respect -- and the honor of gracing the cover of ESPN the Magazine's 2012 NFL preview issue. The issue, which hits newsstands Friday, will mark Johnson's second notable cover appearance of the season. He was previously named as the cover athlete for the popular “Madden '13” video game.
Suh tells GQ “I don't play angry”: Ndamukong Suh continued his offseason PR crusade in an attempt to repair his image. Suh faced scrutiny and rebuke following his suspension for stomping a player in Detroit's loss to the Packers on Thanksgiving Day last year, and he is the subject of a lawsuit stemming from a December, 2011 car accident in Portland, Ore.
Suh said his actions last season were misunderstood. "A dirty player is somebody who ultimately is trying to hurt somebody," he told GQ. "There's a huge difference. There's no gray in that. Like, you have no conscience, no guilt. I don't have a mean streak. I don't play angry. It's not anger."
