Larry Fitzgerald has been doing his thing for a long time now. The Arizona Cardinals made Fitz the No. 3 overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, and ever since, he has been one of the best wide receivers in football.

Just before the end of the first half during Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons, Fitzgerald caught a pass for the 1,095th time in his NFL career. That catch moved him past former Raiders great Tim Brown into the top five in NFL history.

He's already pretty close to breaking into the top three, which he could potentially do as soon as the second half of this game, if Carson Palmer peppers him with targets.

Once he gets past Carter and Harrison, he's got a couple hundred to go before catching up to Tony Gonzalez (1,325) and then a couple hundred more before he can challenge all-time leader Jerry Rice (1,549).

In typical Fitz fashion, the play on which he actually moved into the top five was extremely heady. The Cardinals were driving down the field and needed a few extra yards to move into Chandler Catanzaro's field goal range. Palmer hit Fitzgerald with a quick pop pass, and the receiver slid to the turf and called timeout at the same time, stopping the clock with one second left.

Catanzaro, of course, connected on the field goal, which pulled the Cards within four points at halftime. Just another great play in a career full of them for Fitzgerald.
