Here are some Cardinals links from media outlets that regularly cover the team:

  • Quarterback Kevin Kolb fired back at Oakland defensive tackle Tommy Kelly, who created a stir Friday night, following a game between the teams in which Kolb went 3 for 6 and was sacked three times, once for a safety: "He is skittish. He is scared back there," Kelly said. Kolb’s response: “Don’t ever question my toughness."

  • With starting left tackle Levi Brown out for most or all of the season with a triceps tear, Whisenhunt said rookie D.J. Young and seven-year veteran D’Anthony Batiste will be the first two players given a chance to fill the void, with rookie Nate Potter also getting reps. Whisenhunt wants to see how those three inexperienced players perform before turning to veteran Jeremy Bridges, who played the left side in 2009 but has played the majority of his career on the right side of the line, Josh Weinfuss of azcardinals.com.

  • Every reporter covering the Cardinals in the preseason has noticed that QB John Skelton gets markedly better protection from the offensive line, tight ends and running backs than Kevin Kolb. So have the coaches, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reported.

  • Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt declared the quarterback competition wide open when training camp began. When you compare John Skelton and Kevin Kolb side by side, there is no way you can declare Kolb the starter.
