Mamadi Diakite: Deal with New York expires
Diakite became a free agent Sunday after his 10-day contract with the Knicks expired, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Diakite didn't appear in any games for the Knicks over the course of his 10-day deal. With Isaiah Hartenstein, Jericho Sims and Precious Achiuwa all ahead of him in the pecking order in the frontcourt and with Mitchell Robinson (ankle) believed to be close to a return, the Knicks might not have much of a need to keep Diakite around as a depth option.... Knicks' Mamadi Diakite: Gets 10-day from New York
Diakite agreed to a 10-day contract with New York on Thursday, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports. Diakite totaled just 16 minutes over three appearances with San Antonio in January while he was signed to a two-way deal, and he'll now get his second NBA opportunity of the season with the Knicks. He'll provide depth in the New York frontcourt but is unlikely to see regular minutes in the rotation.... See More ... See Less -
Mamadi Diakite: Cut by San Antonio
The Spurs waived Diakite on Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Diakite averaged 4.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists across 5.3 minutes in three games with the Spurs this season. The 27-year-old big man will look for an opportunity elsewhere, though he could stick San Antonio's G League affiliate in Austin if he doesn't quickly catch on with another organization on a 10-day or two-way deal.... Spurs' Mamadi Diakite: Active for Tuesday's game
The Spurs recalled Diakite from the G League's Austin Spurs on Tuesday, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports Diakite was signed to a two-way contract Monday and will have a chance to make his San Antonio debut Tuesday versus Memphis. Zach Collins (ankle) is amid a multi-week absence, so Diakite could be fourth in the pecking order for minutes at center behind Victor Wembanyama, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Dominick Barlow.... Diakite led all Cleveland players in rebounds while reaching double figures in scoring and finishing just two boards shy of a double-double. Diakite set season-best marks in both points and rebounds, surpassing the double-digit scoring total for the first time this year while hauling in five or more boards for the second time.... Cavaliers' Mamadi Diakite: Unavailable Friday
Diakite sat out Friday's 113-106 win over the Motor City Cruise due to an undisclosed issue. It's unclear why Diakite was withheld from the Charge's final game of the regular season or whether he'll appear for the opening round of the G League playoffs. Diakite is one of the Cavaliers' two two-way players.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Mamadi Diakite: Fills stat sheet Saturday
Diakite had 10 points (3-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals and three blocks across 41 minutes in Saturday's win over Long Island. Diakite has been one of the most productive players for the Charge this season, and his two-way ability was on full display in this one since he left his mark on both ends of the court. Diakite has made 12 appearances for the Charge this season, averaging 16.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Mamadi Diakite: Scores four points in return
Diakite (illness) scored four points (1-5 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) while adding five rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in Saturday's loss to Ontario. Diakite missed just one game due to illness, and while he came off the bench here, he should return to the starting unit fairly soon for the Charge.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Mamadi Diakite: Dealing with illness
Diakite didn't play Friday against Ontario since he was dealing with illness. Diakite has been a regular contributor for the Charge when healthy, and there's no question the team missed him in Friday's loss. He should recover his starting spot when he's ready to return.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Mamadi Diakite: Goes for 27 points and 11 boards
Diakite had 27 points (10-17 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists and three blocks across 40 minutes in Thursday's loss to Santa Cruz. Diakite led the Charge in both points and rebounds, but he also contributed in other categories to deliver a solid stat line across the board. He's averaging 19.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Mamadi Diakite: Efficient from field in loss
Diakite posted 18 points (7-9 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block across 37 minutes in Tuesday's loss to Stockton. Diakite was dialed in from three-point range and delivered a strong performance across the board, ranking as the third-best scorer and second-best rebounder in this 11-point loss. Diakite has played only eight games for the Charge this season but is averaging 18.6 points with 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Mamadi Diakite: Scores 16 points Saturday
Diakite had 16 points (6-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, an assist, a steal and two blocks across 37 minutes in Saturday's win over Lakeland. Diakite didn't have his best performance and didn't look like his dominant self, but he still posted a solid stat line while ending as one of four Charge starters who scored in double digits. Diakite is averaging 18.7 points per game in seven outings with the Charge.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Mamadi Diakite: Pulls down 18 rebounds
Diakite delivered 23 points (10-18 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 18 rebounds, three assists and five blocks across 33 minutes in Tuesday's win over the Herd. Diakite's return provided a massive boost for the Charge on both ends of the court, as evidenced by the fact that he was the team leader in rebounds and was also one of their most prolific scorers in this win. He's made four appearances for the Charge this season but has made his impact felt, averaging 22.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.... See More ... See Less -
Cavaliers' Mamadi Diakite: Comes close to triple-double
Diakite had 18 points (6-19 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, seven assists, a steal and two blocks across 37 minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Blue Coats. Diakite is averaging 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in the three games he's played for the Charge during the regular season.... See More ... See Less -

Diakite has made just two appearances with the Charge, but he's made his presence felt in the G League with averages of 24.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in that span. He's simply looking for the minutes he's not getting with the Cavaliers, but he should be bouncing between the NBA and the G League as the season progresses.... See More ... See Less -

Fred Katz@FredKatz20H agoTough first go at it for Mitchell Robinson. Raptors second unit is super small, which means him guarding pick-and-pops against guys like Garrett Temple. Also means he towers over everyone, too. Knicks were finding him for lobs.
