The Nets announced Wednesday that Bates-Diop (shin) will miss the rest of the season, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports. Bates-Diop was slated to miss a second consecutive game Wednesday due to a right shin stress reaction, and he underwent a procedure to address the issue. While he'll be sidelined for the remainder of the year, he's expected to resume on-court activity in approximately one month, so it seems unlikely that the issue will impact his availability for the start of next season. Over 53 appearances between the Suns and Nets this year, he averaged 3.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less

Nets' Keita Bates-Diop: Won't play Wednesday
Bates-Diop (shin) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports. Bates-Diop will be sidelined for a second consecutive game due to a right shin stress reaction. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but his next chance to suit up will be Friday against Chicago.... See More ... See Less -
Nets' Keita Bates-Diop: Won't go Monday
Bates-Diop has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Raptors due to a right shin stress reaction, Meghan Triplett of YES Network reports. Bates-Diop hasn't been much of a factor since joining the Nets, so he shouldn't be missed much. His next opportunity to suit up will arrive Wednesday against the Wizards.... See More ... See Less -
Nets' Keita Bates-Diop: Slated to debut Saturday
Bates-Diop (recently traded) will be available for Saturday's game against the Spurs, NBA writer Billy Reinhardt reports. Bates-Diop wasn't able to make his team debut Thursday since his trade was still pending, but he's been cleared to suit up a few days later. He saw inconsistent playing time to close out his time in Phoenix, so it's unclear how many minutes he'll garner off the bench with the Nets.... See More ... See Less -
Nets' Keita Bates-Diop: Headed to Brooklyn
Bates-Diop was traded from the Suns to the Nets along with Jordan Goodwin as part of a three-team deal that sent Yuta Watanabe and Chimezie Metu to Memphis, and David Roddy and Royce O'Neale to Phoenix, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports. Bates-Diop had relatively consistent minutes for the Suns early in the season, but his playing time fluctuated over the past few weeks. He'll now attempt to carve out a reserve role in Brooklyn, but it seems unlikely that he'll be a significant contributor as long as the team is relatively healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Quiet in 17 minutes
Bates-Diop amassed three points (1-1 FG, 1-1 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and two steals across 17 minutes during Monday's 109-88 victory over Portland. The Suns were missing Kevin Durant (hamstring) on Monday, but Bates-Diop only picked up a few extra minutes. Bol Bol was the biggest beneficiary, as he nearly double-doubled in 20 minutes with 11 points, nine rebounds and one assist. Bates-Diop hasn't eclipsed 20 minutes in a single game since Nov. 26, and he'll likely remain a fringe rotation player going forward.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Available for Friday
Bates-Diop (migraine) will be available for Friday's game against the Kings. Bates-Diop missed Tuesday's game against Portland, but he's been completely removed from the injury report. The Suns will be without Jusuf Nurkic (personal) for Friday's game, so Bates-Diop could see a small bump in playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Late scratch Tuesday
Bates-Diop is out for Tuesday's game versus the Trail Blazers due to a migraine. Bates-Diop has been ruled out shortly before tipoff for Tuesday's contest after not appearing on the injury report all day. Chimezie Metu, Yuta Watanabe and Nassir Little are candidates to receive extended minutes in his absence.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Plays just six minutes
Bates-Diop chipped in zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) in six minutes during Tuesday's 119-116 victory over the Warriors. With Kevin Durant (ankle) sidelined, Bates-Diop started the Suns' previous contest, totaling five points, four rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes. However, Phoenix opted to start Chimezie Metu on Tuesday, forcing Bates-Diop to the back of the rotation. Bates-Diop has played fewer than 10 minutes in two of his last three appearances after averaging 20.5 minutes over his previous 16 appearances (seven starts).... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Moves to bench
Bates-Diop will move to the bench for Tuesday's game against the Warriors,John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game San Francisco reports. Kevin Durant (ankle) is sitting out again, but he could return either Wednesday against the Nets or Friday against the Knicks, according to coach Frank Vogel. Chimezie Metu is getting the starting nod Tuesday, so Bates-Diop could have a limited role with the second unit.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Joins starting lineup
Bates-Diop is starting Friday against Sacramento. With Kevin Durant (ankle) unavailable Friday, Bates-Diop will join the starting lineup for the fourth time in the last seven matchups. Bates-Diop has made seven starts this year, averaging 6.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 24.9 minutes per game over those appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Starting Friday
Bates-Diop will start Friday's game against Denver, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports. The Suns are missing Devin Booker (ankle), but they are getting Grayson Allen back from his illness. Bates-Diop will replace Josh Okogie in the starting unit, and this will be his seventh start of the season. In his previous six starts, Bates-Diop averaged 6.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Slides back to bench
Bates-Diop won't start Wednesday's game against the Raptors. Bates-Diop received a pair of starts with the Suns battling injuries to Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant. However, with both players active, he'll return to the second unit. In eight games with the reserves this season, Bates-Diop is averaging 5.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals/blocks over 16.1 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Will start Friday
Bates-Diop will start Friday's game against the Grizzlies, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports. Bradley Beal (back) remains out and Kevin Durant will miss his first game of the season, so Bates-Diop will join Devin Booker, Grayson Allen, Eric Gordon and Jusuf Nurkic in the starting lineup. Across his previous four starts, Bates-Diop has averaged 6.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals in 26.3 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Limited production off bench
Bates-Diop produced three points (1-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 0-2 FT), three rebounds and one steal across 12 minutes during Wednesday's 123-115 win over the Warriors. Bates-Diop was held below 20 minutes for a second consecutive matchup Wednesday, and he didn't have much production in the comfortable win. He's logged single-digit scoring totals in each of his six appearances since returning to a bench role, averaging 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Retreats to bench
Bates-Diop isn't starting Sunday's game against the Thunder. Bates-Diop started in his last four appearances and averaged 6.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 26.3 minutes per game. However, he'll retreat to the bench Sunday while Josh Okogie returns to the starting lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Moves to starting lineup
Bates-Diop is in the starting five for Saturday's game versus the 76ers. Bates-Diop will replace Josh Okogie in the starting lineup Saturday. Bates-Diop is averaging 7.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 12.0 minutes across his previous two appearances this season but started in 42 games for the Spurs in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Scores in double figures
Bates-Diop supplied 13 points (5-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT) and two rebounds in 18 minutes during Thursday's 132-121 loss to San Antonio. The Suns fell behind early in Thursday's matchup, and although they mounted a comeback bid in the second half, Bates-Diop saw extended run for the first time this season after appearing in just one of the team's first four games of the year. The 27-year-old was efficient with his double-digit minutes, tying for the highest scoring total among the team's bench players. While he showed what he can do with ample playing time Thursday, it seems unlikely that he'll be part of the team's rotation regularly.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Not part of rotation
Bates-Diop didn't play in Thursday's 100-95 loss to the Lakers. Even with Bradley Beal (back) and Devin Booker (foot) sidelined, Bates-Diop didn't see any playing time. Instead, Jordan Goodwin, Drew Eubanks, Yuta Watanabe and Nassir Little led the Suns' bench unit. In 2022-23, Bates-Diop had a career year with the Spurs, starting 42 of 67 appearances while averaging 9.7 points (39.4 percent from beyond the arc) and 3.7 rebounds in 21.7 minutes. It was believed he'd be able to parlay his solid production into a meaningful role for a Suns squad that lacks depth, but that hasn't been the case thus far. Bates-Diop doesn't need to be rostered in standard leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Suns' Keita Bates-Diop: Quality production off bench
Bates-Diop recorded nine points (4-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and one block in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 115-107 preseason loss to the Nuggets. Bates-Diop has garnered a sizable bench role in each of the Suns' first two preseason games. He figures to see a similar role during the regular season, as it appears both Grayson Allen and Josh Okogie are currently ahead of Bates-Diop in the running for the final starting spot alongside Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant and Jusuf Nurkic....
